My implants ruptured for the second time, so I decided to have them removed along with a bilateral breast lift and two other procedures. I picked Dr. Reuben because he seemed nice, and it appeared like he cared about his work. I couldn't have been more wrong. He left me disfigured with one breast three inches higher than the other. When I got home from surgery, I noticed he only did an anchor lift on one breast even though I paid for both. I was horrified; I called him crying, and he told me to give it time. He went on and on about how he cares for his patients and that he will fix it and tweak whatever is needed after the swelling goes down.
I returned a few months ago to discuss corrective surgery. I felt so bad about myself. I asked him about getting implants again because one breast is two cups sizes bigger than the other. He sent me home with a $6,900 invoice to fix his botched job! I didn't say much at the office because I was so upset; I just wanted to get out of there. I went to three other plastic surgeons, and they all told me the same thing: Dr. Rueben did a breast lift/reduction on one breast for some reason and not the other, and to correct that, I would have to undergo a breast reduction on the other one just to make them even. I will also need to have my nipples fixed because they don't match now either.
My breast implants were insured, so I was suppose to get $2,400 back from the implant company to cover the cost of the procedure. However, because Dr. Reuben refuses to sign the required paperwork stating that he removed the ruptured implant, I can't file the claim and get the warranty reimbursement. I called his coordinator, Leslie, super upset that I have to have his botched job fixed and told her that need the warranty money because I have to have corrective surgery. She said she would call me back and sort it out, and I stupidly believed her. But months have gone by, and nothing has happened, despite my repeated attempts to follow up. He's never taken after pictures either. He knows they look horrible he just doesn't care.
I trusted that office, and I trusted Dr. Rueben. I was wrong. I worked two jobs just to be able to afford to have my implants removed, and now it's going to cost me even more to fix Dr. Reuben's mistakes.
I'm so traumatized from this entire experience. I feel horrible about myself every time I see my breasts in the mirror. No one will even call me back.
