The original installation, after discounts was four times the fee quoted to me by SafeTouch! Payed a year in advance for monitoring service! Most older Volvos can have their keys programmed by a third-party locksmith--it's hit or miss depending on the model. Newer Volvos, typically 2015 and up, absolutely require dealership access to program keys, which can cost several hundred dollars. I called around to about 10 other locksmiths, and none of them wanted to touch the Volvo. Joel on the other hand, immediately said, "I'll give it a shot. He showed up on time, was communicative, polite, and professional. Although the key couldn't be programmed to the car (a known challenge with some Volvos), he still tried--and with that enthusiasm left a great impression.
