I wasted over a year dealing with this company. Dallas constantly lied to me and failed to keep his word multiple times. He ended up damaging my drive more per another company I sent my drive to. Dallas may seem genuine but constantly ghosts you when you text him for an update. He consistently told me he recovered lots of data (around 2TB) and I asked for proof like pictures or videos of my data and he just completely ghosted me and never provided me proof. Then when I kept hounding him to give me this assurance he ended up sending me my drive back with someone else's data on it (after he initially sent my drive back with literally nothing on it). Completely lack of accountability and constantly makes excuses for his lack of integrity. Take this review for what you will but I'd just completely disregard having this company do data recovery. read more

Had me come "pick it up" (drove from Ft Worth) last Thursday only to find that his data copying machine was "turned off" and that it would be another 4-5 hours. I had a internal 9 yo 1TB PC SATA drive that could not be found upon trying to booting up PC even in safe mode. PC was dead in the water and I tried moving the drive to another slot on motherboard and hooking it up to a second PC via USB to SATA adapter to no avail. I looked at all my options and time was running out to get the data so I could complete my taxes and the drive had info I needed. My BIG mistake was not doing regular backups.... I learned my lesson. I called several local places and most wanted to ship my drive to a place unknown with a cleanroom. I knew the cleanroom was needed but I didn't like the idea of my drive floating around to who knows where since there was sensitive data on it. I chose 24 HR DATA since they do it in house w their own cleanroom. I was sooooo happy I chose them. They delivered the data on a second SSD of same size. Well, let me start by saying that I STILL don't have my drive back so I don't know if they're even going to recover the data, but this is about the customer service. When I first got a quote from them, they said $500-800 and 24-48 hours to recover the data and send it back. I thought that was great and much better than other quotes I had been hearing. So, I shipped it off that day and waited for the analysis. They got back to me promptly and told me it was harder to get than they first thought. So, the quote went up to $1200 and 3-4 days. Still not too bad. It was at this point that I told my clients they could expect their files five days from now. Well, five days has gone by so I call the company to see what's happening with the drive because I still haven't heard anything from them. They inform me that they have just now ordered a replacement drive and are waiting for it to arrive. It will be another 1-2 days. Now, not only do I not have my files, but I also have lost credibility with my clients. I would NEVER recommend this service to anyone. If they had just told me the truth in the first place or at least kept me informed, I could have sent my backup drive (which also failed) off for data recovery and had it back in time to give to my clients. They should be paying me for lost business instead of me shelling out what I'm sure will be much more than $1200. Also, I should mention that these "offices" they claim on their website in big cities don't seem to me to actually exist. I saw they had a location just a few blocks from me so when I initially spoke to representative I asked if it would be worked on there. He said, "No, that's just a drop off location." And I said, "Great. Then I can drop it off there." He quickly covered his tracks and said, "I actually think we're closing that location. You'll just have to send it here." Wow. UPDATE: Another five days have gone by. Still nothing. 2nd UPDATE: I finally had to call to get any information on the drive besides what 'stage' it's in, which means nothing to me. Again, they told me another few days and offered to send it back if I couldn't wait. I told them if it would just be a few days, then I could wait and for them to keep working on it. So I waited another few days. After hearing nothing back, I called again and they said the problem would take even longer. When I asked how long and they said at least a few weeks, if at all. It was at this point I told them to just send it back. I was completely exhausted from dealing with them. This company desperately needs new management. In response to Sean's comment below: Most of that that information is false. My client is not unhappy with lost wedding photos, as she got photos from every part of her wedding day. In fact, we even gave her double the photos that were promised to her. She is simply angry because of the unfulfilled promises that we relayed to her straight from 24 Hour Data. We would not have had a problem if the company had just been honest with me to begin with that they didn't have a solution. You need to treat customers with respect, tell them the truth, and actually listen to what they are telling you. Please don't tell people on yelp that you offered to work on my drive for free. Reading this comment is the first I've ever heard about it. ^Since writing this, Sean has changed his comment because, I assume, he is trying to protect himself. ANOTER UPDATE: The company has been sending me tons of emails saying they have done nothing wrong, as if lying to your client constitutes 'nothing'. I went to 24 Hour Data after the MicroSD memory card in my phone corrupted. Unfortunately I had not backed up any of my pictures or videos (which included wedding, honeymoon, and vacation photos... bpffftttt...). I used the online chat to request a quote and the next morning I had an email with the estimated price range for the recovery. All things considered, I knew I would never be able to replace those pictures and memories so I went ahead with the recovery. Just wanted to let everyone know my experience with this company and how poorly they are at communicating. They have had my external hard drive for over 2 months now with no updates on anything. I have called multiple times for updates and all I get is a run around. I finally gave up on calling and figured out how to recover my own files off my hard drive, which thankfully I was able to do. It's a great thing they don't charge anything upfront to work on anything. What a waste of my time thinking they could help. One of my external hard drives "fried", and a good friend recommended 24 Hour Data. Like many others here, I had not backed up this now-damaged-beyond-repair drive. I mean, I had put the data on this external hard drive and not left it on my C drive because I thought that was the 'safe' thing to do. Uh, no. Anyway, after all efforts to find a local (NYS) company to help me failed, I contacted 24 Hour Data as well as two other companies. 24 Hour Data was very professional right from the start. They knew their "stuff", told me that they could probably recover all my data (which included all my music, and personal and business files that I really needed) and sent a FedEx label for me to send them my badly damaged hard drive for evaluation. I was also told that recovery, if successful, would cost around $800, maybe less. When they received the drive, they contacted me and quoted $1,500 which I simply did not have. I was crestfallen. However, after several months went by and my financial situation did not change, the owner of 24 Hour Data, Sean Wade, did work with me on the price and payment and I have to say that they get kudos for customer service. First, let me start off by saying, back up your data... Yes, I have a backup, but failed to do so since 2012. However, due to my lack of the right thing, I needed the service of 24 hour data. I looked around, called, and "interviewed" potential companies and to be honest, the lady that answered the phone was very kind and very knowledgeable. She was very honest and my thinking was, if the individual will take 5-10 minutes to answer my questions on the phone, gave me a honest range of estimates, plus provide ISO required data (keep in mind, I, at one time was from the MFG world were ESD and ISO requirements are a daily thing), then this is the place to help me recover my data. I provided them two hard drives, one good, one bad. But due to the fact I didn't want to give them the incorrect drive, they tested both and found the failed drive. Within 24 hours, I got a call from 24 Hour Data with good news..... and bad news... The good news, the data can be fully recovered with a 95% assurance. Bad news.... the price. But, with the requirements needed, the testing equipment and such, I was not surprised. Was it more than some of the competitors?? Absolutely, but with potential lost data, I did not want to risk losing anything, and as I said, 24 Hour Data really provided me with comfort of their knowledge and success stories. Let me get started by saying I am a small business owner and Dallas and the team at 24 Hour Data have saved me from disaster with four separate clients, which could have ended my biz. They are literally my techie super heroes, and I can't speak highly enough of them. My drive was pulled off of my desk and dropped on hard wood floor, and I sent it in to a friend who recovers hard drives and it was out of his scope so he sent it to another data recovery place that was highly recommended. There were multiple problems, and it is a very complicated recovery, outside of a 24 hour deal, but I was still hoping for a relatively timely solution. My work is highly time sensitive and even one lost file is a huge problem, so I gladly paid to have this done. With the other company I was quoted 2 weeks, but fast forward FOUR weeks and they had given absolutely ZERO communication outside of the extremely vague "working on it, it's complicated." let alone any files. I took my drive back and brought it to 24 hour data and already had more updates and communication within 24 hours than I did in over a month with the other company, not to mention I GOT FILES BACK for the first of the four clients within THREE DAYS. They wanted to give me something to get started on while I wait for the rest, which they expect soon. Let me tell you, this means the world to me and I just want to shout it from the rooftops. I'll say up front that I signed up for the cheapest level of service as my hard drive simply has personal music and pictures on them. So timing wasn't much of a concern. However, 24 Hour Data had my drive for over 15 months. During that time, I emailed several times to the engineers in charge of my drive to get updates. Not once did I get a response. I had to resort to emailing their sales department to try to get the engineers to respond. Apparently, the sales department has more pull on the engineers than their customers because within a day of emailing them, I received an email from the engineer who told me what "stage" my drive was in and it would be entering the next stage in the coming days. After no further updates and waiting several MONTHS again, I repeated the process and got the same result..I had to go through the sales department to get a response. At this point, I thought I had give them enough time with my drive and was just wanting to pick it up. Again, within a day of me emailing the sales department, I got a response from an engineer saying he would look at it one more time and I would be able to pick it up within a day or so. I agreed. It was the last I heard from him. Subsequent emails went ignored. Shame on me for thinking this time would be any different from any other "attempts." A few days go by, then a few weeks, then a month and a half. I finally just drove to the shop and asked for them to give it back. What a monumental waste of time. I can't be sure they even looked at it, as it was just handed back to me without any kind of written report and nothing more than a "Sorry." read more
