I tried the surprise me button on Yelp. I have to be honest, I had never heard of this place and never noticed it when driving in the area. I don't know about anyone else, but I know I am a huge creature of habit! I keep going back to the same places! Like the old theme song from Cheers, "You wanna go where everyone knows your name". It wasn't exactly what I was expecting in my mind. You order at the counter and then your number is called out when it is ready. The cashier was very nice and explained everything when I told her it was my first time there. There was a fairly steady stream of customers, but most were getting it to go. I ordered the 10 whole wings, Mango Habanero with seasoned fries and a watermelon Jarritos. It was a bit pricey, but prices have gone up everywhere. My order came to $27.06. I decided to eat there. The dining room is not real large. There were like 5 tables, a higher counter area looking out over the street through the front window and a few other seats for people waiting for orders. The area is modern and cozy. I was very relaxed and was not in a hurry, but my food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. The fries were seasoned very nicely. The wings were not the best I have had, but they were pretty good. There was a bit too much sauce on them for my liking, but the chicken was moist and they had good flavor. I really didn't notice any spice level until I was driving home and it snuck up on me then. I love spice, so it was all good. She did mention different heat levels available. The menu pictures of the different steak options looked very good; however, for me I prefer ordering steak at a full service restaurant. I will definitely stop in here again sometime to try some other items!

Sometimes a plan doesn't work out and the backup ends up better than the original plan. We went to get burgers for lunch down the block from 27th but that place wasn't open on Sundays. As we walked back to our car someone walked out of 27th Steak & Potato so my husband asked if it was good. And they said it was delicious. So in we went. And EVERYTHING sounded/looked good. We decided to get and share several things and had plenty of food left to take home. The loaded baked potato was delicious. The wings were huge and good flavor. Mac n cheese was pretty standard, good but nothing too different. But omg the gyro fries. I love gyros and obviously get gyro meat as a side to salads etc. But I never would have thought to put it on fries. We got a choice of cheese options and did cheese sauce and it was sooo good. This is something I will crave again for sure!! We also use some of extra cheese on the potato, not that it needed anything more but why let it go to waste, ya know. The restaurant is super clean. The service was really friendly. And while it did take a few minutes to get the food, because it was definitely all made fresh and came out hot. She did mention to everyone that in the future they could call ahead to have it ready by the time they got there. We need to go back to try many other things that sounds yummy, including the dessert case.

Lola is the best! So kind and welcoming - she has the friendliest energy i've ever experienced at a restaurant. Came from Chicago to Milwaukee on a work trip and decided to try this place and it's worth it! It is not a fancy restaurant so don't expect that, it's more of a hidden gem mom and pop style restaurant. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned - not too much and not too little. The loaded potato wasn't what I expected to look like but honestly I prefer the way this one was prepared better because it was amazing. The cajun boneless wings were also very good - my bf is not a fan of cajun at all but he cleaned the plate with these! The mozzarella sticks were throughly melted and had lemon pepper seasoning on top which was a great addition to the taste. Lastly, the frozen lemonade was amazing! They had plenty of frozen lemonade options - i chose the strawberry lemonade, and many dessert options. Overall, service was excellent and the food was as well. Definitely will come again when I am back in town.

Staff is nice just didn't make sense my food was undercooked and i wanted a refund and got charged for opening 2 other wings to see if they were bleeding.

**July 2025: Wednesday Lunch Visit**…read more While I was researching iconic food in Wisconsin I came across an item called Butter Burger which sounded so decadent and delicious. My friend and I were only exploring Milwaukee for a day so we wanted to make sure that we picked a good spot to try this region favorite. AJ Bombers came up consistently ranked on top for really great burgers. We came on a weekday so parking was pretty easy, but it is metered street parking. The restaurant is located at the corner of a large building and since we arrived right at opening we were seated right away. We ordered the following -Cheese Curds $9 - These were delicious. Nice and crispy, almost had an airfried texture to it so it tasted healthier than others that I've tried -Bomb Butter Burger $14 - The meat was very juicy and overall a good burger -Milwaukee Burger $12.50 - This was a fantastic burger and I think I preferred this to the Bomb Butter Burger. The flavors were more balanced IMHO -Tater Tots and Fries: The burgers all came with a side and I enjoyed both! They were freshly fried and served hot. The tots made me feel really nostalgic since those were things I remember eating growing up. The unfortunate news is that this restaurant despite all the accolades will be closing later in 2025. It's served Milwaukee for 16 years and while I'm bummed that they'll be closing their doors later this year I'm glad that I got enjoy one of Milwaukee's best. If you get a chance to check them out their decor also has a lot of personality.

I haven't been in years, but it was sad to see that they don't give out peanut like they used to and they were not all over the floor. There was a singular waitress there but she was nice and checked in on us. I ordered the Milwaukee Burger. I loved the onions on it and added tomato to it. I thought the burger itself was ok. Not too much flavor, I wish it was a little more pink. It would've been better if the bun was more toasted as well. I ordered onion rings, fried pickles, and cheese curds. Cheese curds and onion rings were really good, but the frickles were huge and every time I would take a bite the pickle would come out of the batter and I would be stuck with the plain batter alone. Overall loved the ambiance and I was miss Aj Bombers and its history.

The outdoor area is especially nice, with all the gorgeous plants that the manager/owner personally hand-waters. It's a small detail, but it really adds to the atmosphere. The place can get very busy before a Brewers game, which is completely understandable. They do have parking, although street parking is pretty plentiful too. Inside is a little tight, but groups of up to six should be able to find a spot without too much trouble. Anything larger than that might get a little dicey. I tried the chicken sandwich, and while the chicken itself was a little thin, the flavor had me wanting to come back for another one. Sometimes that's all you need to know. And do yourself a favor and order a Bloody Mary. I sucked mine down way too fast, which probably tells you everything you need to know. A Bloody Mary at Sobelmans is part of the full experience. Great staff, great atmosphere, good food, and a solid spot to hit before a Brewers game. I'll definitely be back.

Saw this place on the walk back to our car and stopped in for a couple drinks and some appetizers. We were very happy we did. We sat at the bar and it was fairly empty at the time, which was a Thursday around 1pm. The bar is so beautiful with all of the copper details. It feels very clean with an upscale look but doesn't feel like it's too fancy to stop in on a regular day. Our bartender was awesome and she was training a new person that day so she was happy when we chose some fun cocktails for the newbie to make. Our favorite was the Beet Marshall. Oh my gosh is this a delicious cocktail! Unique too! Very refreshing, light. And fantastic color! My partner tried the Rhubarb Negroni which was also very good but we both decided Beet Marshall was the winner! We had the fresh pork rinds for an appetizer, came out sizzlin and poppin! Yes!! We also had the Cajun dill curds they were really good, not too heavy with just enough seasoning. I think this place is a great spot to check out anytime! They had tvs at the bar so sports fans could see their favorite games while enjoying a drink and some food. While other restaurants in the district had hour and a half plus waits, we practically owned the place sitting wherever we liked. On event days they have a reduced menu. As they were slow, the kitchen gracefully allowed us to place a regular menu Crustless Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque order for our kiddo. I ordered the LP Burger with bacon ($14 + $2.5 - double smash, sharp american cheese, shredded lettuce, fresh tomato, shaved red onion, LP sauce, potato roll) and my wife ordered the Potato Chip Crusted Chicken Sammy ($12 - honey mop glaze, mayo, shredded lettuce and pickles). The bar has a fair amount of good bourbons and at decent prices for being in the deer district, such as the double neat pour of Stagg I had. There was one bartender/server for the place, but she knew how to hustle while still being super friendly. The interior could use some art on the walls, but is bright and clean otherwise. The food was delicious and presented very well. That bacon I paid extra for? Oh my goodness. Thick cut, perfectly cooked, so dang good. Usually I regret adding bacon but here it is a must. My 8-year-old kiddo, who is practically a vegetarian at this point, devoured her grilled cheese and half of the big bowl of soup. I never even saw my wife's chicken sammy, so you know it was good when it goes down that fast. Thankfully as our food arrived the place started to fill, as they deserve to be filled! I want to come back on a non-event day to try the shrimp poboy, their house dry rub wings, as well as on the weekend for their brunch.
