After a boating adventure and getting caught in the rain making it back to the dock, we were hungry and wet! Saw this place on the walk back to our car and stopped in for a couple drinks and some appetizers. We were very happy we did. We sat at the bar and it was fairly empty at the time, which was a Thursday around 1pm. The bar is so beautiful with all of the copper details. It feels very clean with an upscale look but doesn't feel like it's too fancy to stop in on a regular day. Our bartender was awesome and she was training a new person that day so she was happy when we chose some fun cocktails for the newbie to make. Our favorite was the Beet Marshall. Oh my gosh is this a delicious cocktail! Unique too! Very refreshing, light. And fantastic color! My partner tried the Rhubarb Negroni which was also very good but we both decided Beet Marshall was the winner! We had the fresh pork rinds for an appetizer, came out sizzlin and poppin! Yes!! We also had the Cajun dill curds they were really good, not too heavy with just enough seasoning. I think this place is a great spot to check out anytime! I stopped by during March Madness, and despite it being the middle of the day, the place was buzzing with fans watching the tournament. The bartender--who was the only one working at the time--did a phenomenal job keeping up with the crowd. While drinks occasionally took a little longer, she handled the rush with professionalism and a great attitude. One thing that really stood out was the bar itself; it's impressively long, possibly the biggest I've seen in a venue of this size. We made a reservation for 10 before the Eric Church concert. It's a good thing we had a reservation, because it was packed. Our waitress was really good. Their happy hour is pretty good. $5 mules, old fashioned, and some cheaper beers. Bottles of wine were half off. They were out of many of them because of that. I ordered the cubano and it was huge. I definitely only needed half of the sandwich and chips. We all agreed had we known the size we could have shared. The ranch chips were fantastic. Visited Copper with a group of gals on a recent Saturday night. They planned to seat us inside, but the atmosphere was lacking a bit at it was fairly dead, plus it was lovely weather outside so we requested the patio instead. Definitely a winning choice. They're parklet decks sit on Third street and offer great vibes. We had a group of seven and the server was sweet and had no problem breaking up our checks (always appreciated). The menus we recieved didn't tell the whole story for drinks, so we were directed to look online. Mules of all flavors were on special for $5 so pretty much all of us ordered one. I had the cucumber one and really enjoyed - not too sweet. One of the gals ordered an app for the table, and it was so good - the bee sting whipped feta dip! I mean what's not to love about whipped feta, hot honey, and pistachios? Also it came with cauliflower toast slices that were yummy. My friend and I split a burger for the main. Wasn't the best burger of my life but still enjoyed it. What's nice is you can customize them with options like single, double, triple patty, and various toppings. Oh and it comes with more fries than you can possibly eat (and that's not a complaint)! Good prices, wonderful location, nice staff. All and all this spot it a win. I was visiting from out of state to see family, and my cousin recommended this spot for some solid bar food; specifically the chicken tenders. At first, I didn't believe him when he said they'd be the best I've ever had... but wow, he wasn't lying! We were seated right away since there was plenty of space, and the guy who took our order was super friendly and attentive. We ordered some drinks and, of course, the famous chicken tenders. We came here with a group of girls for one of their birthdays. I thought everything was just OK. They don't really have a list of cocktails which was disappointing if you don't like to drink canned beverages. Mules seem to be their thing - they did have a $5 special going on their lower tier alcohol ones which was appreciated by most of the table, but I opted for the higher quality one priced at $10 (or $12? Can't recall!). The best thing we ordered was the bee sting whipped feta dip with cauliflower pitas - it was really good! You definitely have to get the extra order of pita chips, what they give you barely even gets you through half the feta. For my entree I got the pepper jelly chicken sandwich. The fries were nothing special, low seasoning. The chicken breading was nice and crispy and tasted good but the pepper jelly was too much. Too sweet, too messy, just didn't really care for it! Parking down there on a Saturday is also never fun....we had to do several laps before we lucked out and found a spot. Overall, I wouldn't choose to go back but it was fine for the event. read more

I abhor sports bars and 95% of what is classified as bar food. Milwaukee has a ton of them all over the city, serving the same frozen, greasy, disgusting food devoured by yahoos tanked up on beer, who wouldn't know the difference between good food and dog feces. That's why I usually avoid anything near that abomination called the Deer District. However, a friend invited me to a Marquette game, and he said to meet him at a place named the Copper on King. With great trepidation, I walked into a typically looking Milwaukee sports bar, copying the ubiquitous sports bar design used worldwide; Nothing unique or innovative here. After sitting down at the huge bar, and some lively conversation with my buddy, we ordered one chicken nugget appetizer to share. The dish arrived, and I was blown away. This appetizer could serve three or four people, and the chicken tasted great, as did my fries. It probably wasn't fresh, but it tasted good and was not greasy. Our server was intelligent and understood inference. That was fun and cool. Copper on King isn't a five-star dining establishment, but for what it's designed to do, it does well. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at the Copper, but if I'm attending an event in this testosterone drenched neighborhood, the Copper on King is my best choice. read more

My family went to Cooper on King for dinner while in town. We sat outside on the green which was fun because there was live music close by. The staff were very friendly and responsive and the food was great. I ordered the Jambalaya it was tasty and spicy with 2 skewers of shrimp on the top. Both my boys ordered the smash burger. A cute new spot in MKE! At least, I'm assuming it's new(ish) because there still aren't many reviews. The ambiance is so cute and really plays up the copper theme throughout the entire space, which I really appreciated. A friend and I grabbed a seat at the bar for a late night meal after working an event. The bartender was SO NICE! Super personable and easy to chat with, exactly what you want when sitting at the bar. We decided to split a couple things, and we fumbled with the order because we thought we we were ordered fried pickles (our fault for not paying closer attention!) but it was actually a big ol' bowl of pickles. I normally LOVE pickles but wow these were unlike anything I've ever eaten! They were homemade and the most tart and sour pickles I've ever tried. Definitely a love it or hate it kind of thing. I recently stopped by Copper on King for a pre-show dinner (our party of three was headed to a show at the Marcus Centre afterwards). Our experience was a bit of a mixed bag, so probably more of a 3.5--but I rounded up! We made reservations so were seated straight away. We were seated in the dining area (which is a little ways away from the bar). It was noisy. So much so that our party of three had a hard time conversing and had a difficult time hearing our server (and vice versa). It's all hard surfaces with no curtains or acoustic panels to absorb any of the sound so it's all loud, amplified, and echo-y. We started our experience with a few starters. The whipped feta dip is dreamy and an absolute must order for any feta enthusiasts. The roasted chickpeas were so flavorful and wonderful. We also got the fried cheese squares which we were less enthusiastic about. Our mains across the board were pretty unremarkable. I got the grilled halloumi avocado salad. The cheese was smoky but I wished for more avocado and vegetables. My dining companions both got a smashed cheeseburger, which I tried and was pretty plain. They both had requested grilled onions but they forgot on both so that might have made it a bit better. The cocktail menu is full of mules so for those who enjoy a mule--this place has a variety of them! If you're not into mules, you may find the cocktail menu less exciting. The bars we initially tried were packed with no open tables, but luckily, this spot had seating available. We had no idea what to expect, but the warm and inviting atmosphere immediately made us feel like we had made the right choice. Karen our server and Fee were absolutely a delight when us FIBs (IYKYK) came in for dinner after a comedy show. The birria poutine was absolutely delicious (get a side of the consumme!!) and the haddock fish fry my hubby had was perfect crisp and flakey.
