While we were at the Cruisin' Ocean City car show we were invited to meet up with some friends at this restaurant. We had never been there before. Luckily we got there a little early because the wait was not terrible, but they got considerably busier shortly thereafter. For starters, we ordered their warm pretzel with crab dip, and it was very good. We liked that the pretzel was already cut into pieces, and the crab dip was very tasty. For dinner, I got the French dip with the french fries. It was very tasty and certainly enough to eat. I also got a side of potato salad, which I wasn't quite as crazy about because it seemed to have a lot of dill in it or some other herb. Not bad, but not my favorite. Wife got the turkey and gravy over crinkle cut french fries. She had never had it this way, but said it was very good. We got chicken strips for my son with french fries and I ended up eating some of the chicken strips, which were also very good by the way. One of our friends got the roast beef sandwich, which looked incredibly tasty. We had no complaints about the food, the waiter was very attentive, and the wait was not very long. We came here for my birthday and the food was EXCELLENT! The server didn't seem to understand us, or wasn't giving great detail about the food. We asked a few questions and he seemed aloof. He was nice just not helpful. I recommend the Rachel sandwich, crab dip, and wings. We were so full because we did a food tour earlier but pushed to eat a bit bc it was so good. We had to take food to go and it heated up well the next few days! Decor and ambience was cool- what you'd expect of a beach town bbq! I picked this restaurant for my birthday dinner. I have been here before and the food was awesome. Guess what the food is still awesome. My wife loves this place because they serve smoked meatloaf. Yes and she said it is a 10 it if 10. She said you can taste the smoke flavor throughout. My son had the chicken and ribs combo and both meats were soooo good. My daughter had the brisket and she destroyed it. I had the ribs and I really enjoyed it. I also had the hush puppies and they had this onion flavor to it. It was great. My son said the Mac and cheese was "FIRE". I had to agree it was really good. I would highly recommend going to the pit and pub for lunch or dinner. They do have happy hours. read more

Where do we start? I spent years in the food industry. The food was horrible. Tpulled chicken was very dry and under seasoned. Portion was small for what they charged as well. The bacon on one sandwich was grossly overcooked (the request was for well done not made into jerky) and could have been used to break teeth. Not one person in our group had anything good to say about their meals. They wouldn't split the bill for three couples at one table. Do not come here. This places service is genuinely terrible. We sat down to have some barbecue, ready to order, menus put at the edge of the table. Our waitress was sitting at the bar on her phone for a solid ten minutes. Completely forgot about the only table she had in the entire restaurant. She could've looked up to check on us for a split second and would've clearly known we were ready but was so glued to the phone that the simple task of looking up was impossible. Put down the dab pen and be a decent server. BBQ chicken was a 6/10 at best, decent smokey flavor but chicken skin was soggy, side portions very small. For the price I expected a more substantial quantity. Ladies bathroom had zero soap. All the best to the owner though, I hope they realize they have to hire more attentive staff. Saw advertisements on the boardwalk so I said let's give it a try. Walked in warm greeting and got sat down right away. Nice little cozy place. I sat downstairs but they have open upstairs seating as well. Started off with the bbq wings. Very good not to saucy. Then I went for the brisket platter with macaroni & cheese with sweet potato fries. Brisket was perfect. Macaroni & cheese very good and creamy. My wife and I arrived in town last night and came across the Pit and Pub. From the outside it looked like a very local joint. In the p-lot the smell of BBQ watered our mouths. Inside the ambiance was quaint and friendly. There were multiple customers but it was not packed. We were directed to take any seat we wanted. The server was prompt and attentive. We ordered the beef brisket plater entree and multiple sides. The food came quickly and was very good. Most importantly despite the time of our meal, it settled nicely. Let me open with this fundamental truth. I have never owned/managed a for profit business. That being said I am a fan of capitalism, and tourism, and I understand the rational desire to earn a profit. I was in town for business (on perdiem), my hotel was across the street, I was tired and refused to drive. That is the parameters under which I imagine a place like this stays in business. I suspect (and did quick research) that the 5 star reviews are "locals" [if real] and maybe fellow business strip owners. I don't believe that anything else explains the range fo reviews that this place gets. I want to be fair, the food tasted fine, not the best, but I have had worse. My primary concern is the quality for price value proposition, and the abysmal service I experienced. The service, on this occasion, for me (maybe all the 5 reviews had a different reality) is absolutely terrible. The young lady taking the order said it would be 35 minutes for smoked wings (7 pc) and a salad (mixed greens, cherry tomato, cucumber). Her thought process relayed to me is that each order is made as it is given (makes sense) but think about it for a moment smoked wings cannot be made to order, so I shrugged, walked back to my hotel (3 min.) waited about 10 minutes and then walked back over (20 min? total) and there the food sat. Additonal irksome point... in all of my 60 years I've only had a few people ever spell my name B- e -r -r -y, they were non english speakers. What english as a native language speaker thinks that a grown man's name is a fruit? I don't begrudge a little price hike for summer tourists/conventioners. I do however expect a bit of effort, a bit of quality put into the product and customer service. read more

I must say the ambiance for pub/bar is awesomely decorated. TVs everywhere, the ceilings are very cool decorated as well. The staff were really friendly and the food came out fast. Both my husband and I got the porker but we both modified it from the original as stated on the menu. The porker was good but when we asked if it was pulled pork compared to what we received completely different than what we envisioned. Normally pulled pork is shredded meat, this was little shaved pieces of meat; however still good. My kid had the patty melt and according to him it was good. When we arrived it was mid afternoon, about 3:30, only a few customers there, shortly after this place became packed... hopping busy. read more

In Ocean City for the week and came here twice. Everything we ordered was a thousand percent on point. The smoked wings were well cooked, just hot enough, and crispy and delicious. We ordered the slider trip and all three smoked meats were moist and flavorful. The barbecue chicken was moist with a delicious sauce, the giant pig in a blanket (maybe better as a shared app) de-li-cious!! Between the two of us had the BBQ wings, pulled pork, baked beans, macaroni and cheese amd coleslaw. The wings were of a good size and sauce was perfect amount and good flavor. We were thrilled with the Carolina pulled pork. It didn't need smothered in sauce to be good. Don't get me wrong the sauce was delicious too but the meat can stand on it's own. Pit & Pub might seemed to the uninspired to be a bit unrefined, or to turn a phrase a bit rough around the edges. True, true, true. That is what makes this place one of a kind. From the moment you enter you are greeted by a lovely sole who asks if you want to sit at the bar, a booth or a table top. The table top seems to always suit us best. A friend saw us enter and briefly joined us for a bit of chit chat but left us with some important entree guidance; "the Brisket--normally outstanding--is tougher today and hard to get handle." Sound advice, instead one of our entrees' was the hot roast beef with gravy. Absolutely incredible with a best tasting gravy ever! As a lover of comedy, I was thrilled to discover a local show at The Pit and Pub. This was my first visit, and I brought along my nephew, who had just turned 21 and is a big fan of the show's host. Surprisingly, the restaurant was packed, especially for an off-season night. It's always nice to see a place bustling with patrons, but it seemed the staff was caught off guard by the unexpected crowd. The wait staff, though not entirely unpleasant, appeared a bit overwhelmed and somewhat unprepared for the influx of diners. It's understandable that good help is hard to find, but a bit more attentiveness would have gone a long way. The evening kicked off with a few comedians, and while the initial podcast segment didn't quite align with my taste, it was clear they were trying their best to entertain. Comedy is subjective, after all. However, the show truly came to life with the host's entrance. He had a natural charisma and wit that effortlessly engaged the audience. His friendliness was evident when he generously offered us free comedy merchandise and goodies, a gesture that made the experience even more memorable. For me, the highlight was when the host interviewed the comedians. His ability to draw out humorous stories and quick-witted responses from them was impressive. It added a personal touch to the show, making each comedian feel more relatable and their jokes even funnier. Despite the minor hiccups, the evening was enjoyable. The nachos were a decent accompaniment to the comedy show, providing a satisfying meal that set the tone for a fun night. While the food experience was okay, the laughter and entertainment made the overall time spent at the restaurant worthwhile. Although I regret not remembering the host's name, I can confidently say that his performance left a lasting impression. We came here on Saturday right after we left the parade. We found this placer on Yelp and thought it looked very promising. I was with family and there was 8 of us total. We park and walk up to the entrance and as soon as we step in the place the lady at the door rudely says "We ain't got no tables for yall". Not hello, welcome to Pit & Pub. Just rudely brushes us aside. The security reads the room, and was like "well you can wait for a table if you'd like". Then the rude lady chimes back in "But it'll be 35 to 45 minutes", but with a real attitude, as if she was offended that we were there. The wait actually wouldn't have been a problem for us, had she had an ounce of professionalism. We knew most places were going to be jumping this weekend, and we found something that looked good. Thanks Yelpers for the find. This Smokehouse delivers in both service and the menu. After a day of water fun and running around, the big meal hit the spot. My family and I were starving but finding a restaurant with a good children's menus is a little difficult for my picky one. This place had a great variety of items on the children's menu and it's two blocks from the hotel -- win win for me. (Echoing my son's sentiment here). The menu is simple and ticks off the list of good BBQ plates and side dishes, too many to mention but the favorites of the night: hush puppies, collard greens (so flavorful, cooked well and smokey) and the Mac and Cheese. Can't speak for the rest but I'm sure it's good. No appetizers to start, we just wanted dinner and quickly. Dinner: boneless pork chops served over mashed potatoes and gravy (so good), great color on the chops and that gravy was delicious. Made the mashed quite creamy. Very rich. My son loves mashed potatoes any day so the fact that he couldn't finish it was killing him. He was stuffed!! Hubby had the beef brisket entree served with a slice of white bread, sauce on the brisket and two sides. Hush puppies for the win!! Brisket was good, especially the smaller cuts. The large pieces were a little more dry. I ordered the pound of pork ribs (waitress selected that over the Carolina pulled pork so I trusted her). It was very, very tender. Fell right off the bone. The meat was really juicy on the bone side. Top side had a little too much char for my liking but the flavors were on point. Collard greens and mac and cheese as my sides. Kids stole the Mac and boy was it good. Glad my hubby ordered that too so we had a fighting chance to try it. Dessert was only one option that night: funnel cake fries. They were awesome. We all love funnel cake so this was a great sharing portion. We were just a lot full but the kids really wanted to try it. Why have I not had them before? Sure, classic funnel cake at the fairs are huge and served as a pull apart dessert. Here, everyone gets their own fry. Drizzle of powdered sugar. Simply delicious. Great local find. Not to mention the awesome decor. Looked like record covers or vinyl album covers that lined the ceiling. Lots of TV's at the bar and plenty of high top seating for the drinking crowd. We just came down OC for the Festival of Lights. Tried Pit & Pub and was very happy. Honey old bay wings were on point with a smoky flavor that was so good. Chicken pot pie was out of this world with a soft flaky crust on top of a bowl of chicken & veggies. I wouldn't recommend going to Ocean City, MD in January because almost everything is closed for the season. This place was one of very few that was open for business and we expressed our gratitude for that. There was a significant wait for a table due to this, and the fact that a playoff football game was going on also. When we finally got a table, our server was great. She was super busy, yet took the time to answer our questions and be sure everything was to our liking. We got a few items to share. Starting with an order of smoky buffalo wings, which were half price all day. They weren't overly spicy and had a definite smoky flavor to them. Delicious! Then we got the seafood quesadilla, full of shrimp, bay scallops, and cheese. It came to the table with eight quarters. For the entree we got the meatloaf with two salads as sides. The meatloaf looked kind of funny coming out alone on the plate, but we'd gotten the fresh, crisp salads a bit earlier. The meatloaf was a huge slice, very dense, with a definite smoky flavor, covered with brown gravy. The food came to us in a timely manner and was hot when it arrived. Our only complaint would be that it was very loud and hard to carry on a conversation without yelling. That's probably to be expected in a bar on a game day. When we left, I told the hostess what a good job she and the others did in such a busy environment. They could've been harried and short with the customers, but I didn't see any of that.... Only good attitudes everywhere! We would definitely come back if we're ever in the area again. read more
