This one is difficult to rate because the food and drinks were excellent, but the service was genuinely terrible. Starting with the biggest negative: our service was horrible. Our server would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time with seemingly no sign of her anywhere. Normally, I could understand this if the restaurant were slammed, but it really wasn't that busy during our visit. There were multiple times when we needed something and were left wondering if our server had simply forgotten about us. For the prices you're paying here, the level of service should be considerably better. Thankfully, the food did a lot of heavy lifting. We ordered the crab mac & cheese, crabcake, and one of their absolutely ridiculous Bloody Marys, and I mean ridiculous in the best possible way. The crabcake itself was excellent. Great crab flavor, nicely prepared, and exactly what you hope to get when you're eating crabcakes in Ocean City. However, the price for one single crabcake is pretty insane. It was delicious, but you're definitely paying Ocean City prices for it. The crab mac & cheese was also excellent and something we'd happily order again. But the unquestionable star of the evening was the Bloody Mary. This thing was practically an entire seafood platter sitting on top of a drink. Between the amount of crab meat and shrimp, you could legitimately make a small meal out of the toppings alone. Thankfully, it wasn't just a gimmick for pictures, the Bloody Mary itself was delicious too. Definitely the highlight of our visit and something worth ordering at least once for the experience. Table for 9 is tough anywhere in a large city, nearly impossible in a tourist-heavy beach town, and doomsday with a place that doesn't take reservations. Pulled up to the stop light outside at 6:45 and noticed a GAGGLE of humans outside waiting for a table. I mean just a mess of em... Put our name in and given a buzzer- told a 45-60min wait. It was nearly that before the buzzer went off. Sat on the outside covered deck as a split 5 top and 4 top. Ordered a cream of crab soup as a starter, also shared the crab pretzel. Both were very good - I thought I ordered the cup but I got a bowl. Don't know. Soup was great, good thickness overall and great solid flavor. For my entree I ordered just the crab cake - 8oz and added a side of green beans. Crab cake was solid - reminded me of Faidley's or Jimmy's down Balmer, and the remoulade that came with it was a nice touch. Green beans, I know crazy I'm talking about them, were crisp and really good. Overall - a great spot. Hands down THE BEST crab cake that I have ever had. Very flavorful crab and not that much filler. My only complaint was that it was too small! I paired it with a side salad. I had the lemon berry cake for dessert. It was just ok. I would recommend that you skip dessert and have two crab cakes! I also had the orange crush drink-very good. The service was excellent! This iconic restaurant and bar has the best crab cakes in Ocean City. We are regular patrons and have not been disappointed with any meal we have tried here. Try the sauces with your meals, especially if you like hot sauce. It's rare that we don't order crab of some sort. Carry out is easy too. The drinks are great as you can read in the many reviews. The service is simply friendly and usually very attentive even when crowded. A once mistake was promptly corrected. The bar typically has friendly patrons who will chat. In addition, the many TV's have O's games and or other sporting events. The staff will even change the events on a particular tv if it is reasonable for easier viewing. Try the beignets with the raspberry sauce for desert if you have room. The ocean side charm makes for a great experience. I was a big fan of Crabcake Factory for many years but this year the quality and taste just wasn't there. My jumbo lump crabcake was a bit drier or saltier than it ever was before. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe and/or cooking method. It just doesn't taste like it used to. My two softshell crabs were mealy and mostly green inside. Typically softshell crabs have some green stuff mixed with bites of savory soft white crabmeat. The white meat just wasn't there. There was a bite with an extremely bitter taste. I had to spit that out. The fries and green beans were okay, but the main atrraction - the softshells - were not. I remember this being better, too. I felt duped. I expected that several OC restaurants shut down in the off-season, but I was surprised at just how many! Fortunately, the Crabcake Factory was ready and willing to serve this California expat. Don't let the fact that this is a micro-chain of three locations deter you. You probably know that Bloody Marys are a "thing" here, and part of the reason is that they're GOOD! And you don't have to get the crazy ones with all the food piled on top. Basic ones are just $10 with spicy pickled green beans, Old Bay on the rim and enough vodka that you can taste it. Crab Bisque was amazing and a good value at $9 per cup. Chunks of crab everywhere. I've had dozens of Conch Fritters ($15) in The Bahamas over the years, so I can tell you that these are authentic and good. Three of us went with Crabcake Sandwiches ($23) which were great, as expected. Even the tomato slices were great. Mom opted for the Crabcake Platter ($24) with double green beans as her sides. The beans tasted fresh, crisp and garlicky...delicious. They didn't miss the details. Even the kettle chips were good. We were stuffed and had to enjoy those at home! The last meal I had before leaving OC, and quite possibly the best! My friend and I started with the mussels that came to our table steaming hot! We ate them quickly. We shared our tacos, two to an order. I think the crab cake ones were likely a crab cake cut in half and placed in each tortilla. Should be for $19! The sauce on top complimented the flavor. Same with the tacos with the large grilled shrimp. We thoroughly enjoyed both. The crush (I can't remember the flavor, but it wasn't orange) was very potent. The food was very good and reasonably priced as well. The restaurant itself is small and noisy, as is the bar, but it's what you'd expect in a resort town. After all the summers going to O.C., Md, this was my first visit to The Original Crabcake Factory, but it wouldn't be my last. It was within walking distance of my hotel and had enough seating for the post-season crowd gathered on a Saturday evening. The crab cake was so good and must've been held together by fairy kisses and baby's breath, because there was NO filler. Our excellent server recommended the homemade coleslaw and it did not disappoint. Cut to the next morning and me and my girls showed up for brunch.
