No bathrooms for customers to use means I spend much less time in the store shopping and buy about half of what I previously bought. Since the other stores closed, this is a long drive and I don't get there frequently. So the no bathroom use saves me a lot of money but not a great experience any more. read more

I'm a recent college grad, so getting a good deal on cute clothes that I'm only gonna wear for one season is basically my mantra, but boy have their prices gone up. I can go to Ross and get a new dress for some of the prices on the racks now a days. I used to love going through the China section to find cute little teacups to plant my succulents in, but now everything is marked "1/4" or "1/8" of a set, that you're not allowed to break up. Really annoying. The book section has gotten way more organized recently which is good I guess. read more

I've been going to this place for years and it just doesn't seem worth going to anymore. The change in their sale day prices and the major hike in their "regular" pricing is not worth the trip. Also, the employees are unbelievably rude and can't be bothered to even place things in the proper areas. Three times now, I've witnessed employees shoving clothes that should be sorted as is their job, and shove them into any place on any rack, all mixed items. I've found brand new clothing in stores by the same brands at lower prices than the used stuff being sold at this store for higher than the brand new prices at regular shops. The back wall with all the bagged up crafts, and other assorted items mashed in together so you can't see what's what without removing whole bags off one hanger to get to the back bags...that is just the worst. They were selling used sex toys!!! What the hell people!!! Cannot believe they actually had butt plugs and vibrators bagged up like that. read more

I'm a long time customer and have seen all the changes. This is a high volume thrift store that actually contributes to charities namely Purple Heart Veterans Services.. The staff are not ignorant but some have challenges with the English language. Everyone has a job and they do there job.. Got a question? as a manager not the girls stocking the shelves they are newly hired and trying to keep there job... I make the rounds at most thrift stores in the tri-state area and all stores have times when the prices are higher and lower. It is dictated by inventory..... If they raise the prices shoes and 2 weeks later they have so many shoes they don't know what to DO? They lower the price... This store is well organized and kept VERY clean.. The location for this place is absolutely brillant. Who else would think to put a thrift store near an outlet where bargain hungry people already flock to for deals? The store was packed with crowds of people looking for their next great find, but for the most part I was unimpressed. Most of their prices could rival a consignment shop, although they have days where they offer 1/3 off the tagged price. Still, if you look close enough, you might find that hot pair of last season's D&G boots or costume hat with feathers for next year's Mardi Gras celebration. I really used to love shopping here. I still stop in from time to time. But, it seems like the workers are keeping the good items in the back. For the past couple of months, I have yet to see a good flat iron, a good purse, or a decent pair of shoes. Let's not talk about the straight leg jeans. You cannot find any of these items anymore. I have to say that the manager at Franklin Mills, I think her name is Ashley is fantastic! very helpful friendly and supportive of her workers. Yup, it's got that thrift store smell. It isn't pretty and the clerks can be rude. If the PA announcements every 5 minutes about the day's deals, accepting credit cards, or se habla espanol don't get on your nerves, I don't know what will. But I like this thrift store, mainly because everything's reasonably priced and there are plenty of mid-priced clothing brands in common sizes. Also, they have dressing rooms with mirrors (YAY!) The deals always change but I believe Sundays and Mondays are the current discount days. It used to be 1/3 everything in the store but now I think it's only on certain tag colors. Parking's not a problem but you do have to be careful around Franklin Mills these days. Heard of car thefts and attacks in the parking lots there. Oh how times have changed:( read more

I've been coming here for years. I always like their selection of clothes and other goodies compared to other thrift shops. My only issue is, the prices have risen a lot in the past year or two. Obviously the deals are great on their sales days, but if you come on any average day, some of the prices of clothing are a little crazy for used stuff. Also, all of the employees are super nice, but a lot of times when I'm trying to shop, they are putting out/hanging up clothes and it's almost impossible to browse. This is the only thrift store that I have ever been to where I actually always walk out with more than one bag. It has improved greatly in the fact that the cashiers are much more friendlier and helpful. Well I think it is too expensive on the regular days I find that the sale days and the 50% off days are Bargains Galore. I think it is worth the trip to stop here. I was talking to someone in another thrift store and she told me I should stop by this store. I went in and was glad that I did. I was able to find a pair of brand new Vince Camuto boots for under $20.00 and the boots retail for $200.00. If you go, just be prepared to take your time and look. I cant believe this is a thrift store???? Their prices are literally comparable to the sales rack at Kohl's . Many sweaters had gigantic holes in them. I picked up a used jacket that literally smelled like mothballs and it had a $39 price tag on it, it was from Express not an elite designer . They put out damaged items in hopes that someone will buy them because you can't return them you just get stuck with them. It is an absolute disgrace, completely dishonest and whenever I bring it up to a manager or another sales person they say oh they must not of seen it or they only have one second to check it before they tag it, trust me, I only looked at it for one second and I saw it right away. Apparently a bunch of greedy businessman took over the store last year or the year before and ever since then it has just been dirty clothing soaked in sanitizer with ridiculous price tags on it!! I think they are forgetting that in most cases even when something has tags on it it's either very old and completely out of style or it's been in somebody's closet which is still a "used item" it's not right off the rack from the store!!! This is the best organized thrift store I have found in the Philly area. There is another location, in Lansdale. It is just as nice (though I think it might be a little smaller). The store is clean, cool to shop in during the hot summer months, and the deals are amazing. Each day you get half-price deals on items with certain color tickets - and the colors change each day. I have bought many things at this store for myself and my family. It's saved my life, I just love it there. If you want a pink short-sleeve blouse in women's size medium, you can find it with ease. The staff at the cash registers are always very pleasant. If you enjoy thrift store shopping you will LOVE 2nd Avenue! Love this place on their best discount day, Monday (certain colors are 50% OFF). Lots of good quality and name-brand clothing and shoes in above-average shape. I've been to other thrift stores where they sell clothing fit for the trash and worn out. Not here. The dressing rooms, with mirrors, are very helpful. The have a good assortment of all sizes, for small and big people. Often, clothing is new and has store tags on them. There is that musty smell, just ignore it. The kitchen area has mostly junk pots and utensils. Bric brac is ok. Electronics is ok, if you're into that stuff. Loads of nice men's dress shoes. The best score is on the discount days, otherwise, the prices are a bit on the higher side for frugal thrifting. Today, I scored a cute Fossil alarm clock for $2.00 (it works) and some designer sweaters for $4.00 each! read more

I have been shopping there almost everyday for quite awhile. Everything was good till I unfortunately bought a set of speakers that didn't turn out to be what I needed. They of course state that there are no returns but I thought they would be good with me beings I am in there everyday. But the same old line "I am sorry but see our receipt, it states no returns". So instead of trying to keep regular customers who spend consistently in their store they tell me no they can't. Yet it would be so simple for them to have taken them back and resell them. Some companies hurt themselves by not treating the regular customers right. The $20 these speakers were bought for is nothing compared to what I spend there every month. I ended up going out of the store and giving them to some woman coming in the store. At least I feel good giving them to someone who could use them and be happy with them. They didn't have the right outlets on the back for my roommates needs, being he is a musician. Thanks 2nd Avenue Value Store in Franklin Mills now (Philadelphia Mills). It's your loss. This store is OK - well organized and a good amount of stuff - the main drawback for me was the small group of people, obviously regulars, hovering over the housewares section anxiously grabbing and googling on their phones each object as it hit the shelves to check its value/collect-ability. Clearly, based on comments, they already had encyclopedic knowledge of each and every item there. This made me oddly uncomfortable and took away some of the fun of discovery - I did score - a partial set of my everyday dishes (a fairly common mid-century modern set) so I left happily buffered against butter-fingers but I will not likely return, the fun is in the discovery. read more

I'm a fairly regular thrift store shopper and decided to stop in here one Sunday. After browsing for a few minutes I picked up a coffee mug I liked and headed for the check-out counter. I was told that since the thing didn't have a price marked on it that it couldn't be sold to me. I objected, telling the delta-minded cashier that it was just a mug, worth $1.50 at best, and sitting there on your shelf to begin with - so why not just slap a price tag on it and sell it to me? She just tossed it in a bin and started looking around her absently as though I had already walked out the door. I asked for the so-called manager who said the same thing but added that I would have to wait until next Tuesday when things would be priced. So you're telling me you're a manager and you have no executive authority to come up with a price point for a simple coffee mug when there are so many other similar ones on the shelf, already marked? Well congratulations - I've never been compelled to write a review before, never stepped foot in your store before today - but I was so irritated that I came home and wrote this. I hope it drives some of your business away. Yes - it's only a coffee mug - but on principle I will probably stick with Impact Thrift from now on since the staff there have been wonderfully helpful in my past experience. read more

When it first opened you could get some great deals. Now the prices are really high. I saw a crockpot for $16.98, you can buy a new one for that price. The whole time you are in there you can hear them throwing things and breaking them in the back. When they have the 50% sales, it is hard to find anything with the sale colors. read more

BEWARE of this stores unfair policies........While shopping at 2nd ave. today I brought my purchases to the register, only to be told that I couldn't purchase the jacket I found on the rack...because it was priced wrong. The tag was legitimately attached to the jacket and the sales woman was so rude and acted like I had altered the tag! She immediately confiscated the jacket and told me I could not purchase it. She said the price should have been marked $99.00 and not the $6.90 it was marked. I had spent a long time shopping and to be told that the jacket was not the price it was clearly marked was very upsetting and unprofessional. If their sales staff is incorrectly marking items it should not be taken out on the unsuspecting customer. When asked to speak to the manager he said he had no idea how the jacket was marked at the price I found it on the floor and said if I wanted it I would have to pay $99.00!!!! I will not shop this store ever again due to this incident. read more

i used to love shopping there, i would spend about $ 300- $400.00 a month, two weeks ago, i wore a coat that i bought at Sam's club last year, forgot to take the tags off, they were under the arm pit were i really didn't even notice them, but the employee did, and i was stopped at the register by 2 men, one a manager, asking to talk to me,he said my coat has tags on it, i didn't get it at first, when he pointed out where the tags were, i told him,i forgot to remove them, then he said "we sell coats with new tags on them too" that's when it hit me! you think i stole this, check your camera's i was sooo embarrassed and humiliated, never has this happened to me. i worked since i was 14,now 57,female and i am still outraged by what they did,approaching me as if i was a criminal and all the shoppers looking at me. am a senior ,so shopping can be a challenge at times ,well I wanted to try on many shoes that caught my attention.But when i tried to find a place to sit ,there was nothing , I was told though if i needed a seat to go to the dressing room which was miles away from the shoes, I always joke with my husband that one needs roller skates to get around this store ,again another challenge for seniors.I remember speaking to what looked like a manager ,and asked what if I felt I would pass out ,or even just to rest a minute..what would a person do?He snarkly said they would "bring me a chair" and then just abruptly turned and went about his business,curtness is a bad attitude when dealing with the public.other then that ,the store is clean as a whistle. very well organized , and over all a good place to shop... I do wish though, more thought would be given to accommodate seniors , that would be such a plus to have a stool or small benches scattered here and there even for an aged husband who drove his wife over to try some skirts on for the spring ,but he himself doesn't want to STAND around while she searches for items to try on. don't forget the seniors is my point .we do spend our money at your store.just a teeny consideration goes a long way ..... read more
