It's the best thrift store in the Philly area. Super cheap prices, amazing selection of items. All your purchases support a good cause - what more could you ask for?

After two visits to this incredible space, I can officially say it is one of my favorite ways to spend an hour in Philly. From a great and well-laid out clothing selection to the beautiful housewares, books, and more - I only wished I lived closer so I could spend more time finding everything I need to outfit my home. The space itself is massive with two full floors dedicated to all different kinds of goodies. Staff here is amazing and quick to turn you in the right direction for whatever you come in looking for. I will be back for even more apartment decor and odds and ends! Thanks for existing Philly AIDS Thrift!

How has it been 8 years since I reviewed this marvelous celebration of all things thrift & kitsch? It's fabulously fun thrifting. I took SCFG there for her inaugural visit, on a DJ day so we were dancing while shopping. They've renovated the storefront and added a permanent dollar Heaven area with commercial laundry bins full of clothing. SCFG found a fab wool blend peacoat, a pair of high - end jeans and a Halloween dress there. In slightly depressing news, I found a striped velour top identical to one I wore in high school in the "vintage clothing" room. Sigh. Go. Have fun. Find cool and kitschy stuff. Support good work.

Just adding that I had a fantastic furniture find here. A pair of nightstands for 40 bucks. They were in good structural shape, but pretty ordinary, looking. I painted them and replace the knobs and, wow, save myself a boatload of money buying new furniture!

Me, in the middle of nowhere (Utah) in the perfect outfit rugged cowgirl purchased at Philly AIDS thrift.

Cool thrift shop. I found this jean skirt and top for a photoshoot in Utah. They have a good selection of things for me and women. I was looking for cowgirl chic pieces for a photoshoot in utah. PAT help me nail this assignment, for sure!! Oh and one day during the week they offer a flat discount. Cant remember which day, but it was a pleasant surprise!

This is a really good Thrift shop. My roommate in Philly brought me here to go thrifting, and I found a bunch of cheap vinyl records to upcycle. I'm an artist and a big time crafter, and paint on them. Got a bunch for 99 cents. My roommate, and I are planning on decorating the walls with records, and since I just got my cricut. I'm going to create a wall of vintage airline logos, and stick them on the LP albums.

They have cassette tapes for .50¢!

A nice place to go buy secondhand stuff but the problem is I feel that somethings are over priced.

With the pandemic, I don't know if this event runs any more…read more My friend V. loves thrift shops and what she calls 'treasure hunting.' Having grown up poor and being forced to wear way too big, tooth achingly ugly winter coats from Goodwill that I'd 'grow into,' hideous polyester button down shirts that a pimp wouldn't touch, scratchy, pill-y wool sweaters reeking of camphor, high water generic blue jeans and summer shorts I would not put on a dog in a clown show, I assiduously avoid things like this. V. was insistent that I would 'go wild' over this flea market because 'it won't be like anything else you've ever been to!!!' I had my doubts about that but you make concessions for friends. We paid our $3 entrance fee and strolled around. Most of the vendor tables had things that were of no interest to me; old playing cards, glassware that was (presumably) collectible, vintage tattoo flash, old silver plate and older, tarnished sterling silver tableware, racks of *shudder* vintage clothing and shoes, most of which had seen better days. There were some well curated tables of antique jewelry and antique beaded bags at very non-bargain prices and a few tables of what I can only call culled pieces from cabinets of curiosities-moth eaten taxidermied items and non-p.c. tourist trash. For the most part, the vendors we encountered were bored seeming or down right rude. The people watching was far better than anything for sale. After 2 hours here, V. bought a very large, ornate dusty rose colored tassel. I asked what she planned to do with it. Her response? 'Do you want it, Warren?' Uhh-that would be NO. I bought nothing. V. wanted to take another spin around the place so I opted to go out to her car to sit and read, telling her to take her time. Another 2 hours passed. She returned empty handed, other than the tassel, to the car. Would I go back? Nope. Should you go if the flea market opens again? It's $3 and maybe an hour or 2 out of your life. You could spend that time and money in worse ways.

What an amazing establishment in Philadelphia…read more The Resource Exchange is located inside of a large warehouse with maker spaces and other establishments. You can't miss the HUGE colorful mural on the outside in the parking lot, but the RE itself is on the right side. Conveniently located by a 3 bus stop as well. I was in the market for some postcards and other papercraft supplies and brought some scrapbook paper I knew I wouldn't use with me to donate as well. The staff was very nice and organized. After seeing the true breadth of all of the various materials sold at the RE, I will definitely bring more miscellaneous craft stuff with me to donate next time. Have to make room for new stuff! I was able to purchase some postcards (they were 50 cents each or 3 for $1), a container to hold some of my other materials, and a set of Dublin stickers, all for $15 flat. Cannot stress enough how AFFORDABLE stuff is. In general I would say go in to look around and not want anything too specific, especially on a busy day like a Saturday, because it was a bit crowded. But they had materials truly for all typees of crafts: fabric, knitting, sewing, painting, papercrafts, jewelry, woodworking... as well as larger materials. Really affordable and hope to get the word out about this place! There are two gender-neutral restrooms located in the lobby of the building as well as part of the shared space.
