To thrift or not to thrift? If you have the time, why the hell not. The girlfriend and I have taken up antiquing and thrifting as our newest hobby. If you watch the Antique Road Show you will see there have been many cases of someone finding an item for literally a couple of dollar bills and finding a real treasure on their hands with the item they bought for a few dollars coming in appraised at hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. This location is in a nice shopping center and the store is very large. The cons are some of the books are priced very high for a thrift store. Also, I found it odd that most of the music being played in the store was all Mexican music. Most of the announcements in the store were in Spanish as well. Hey, I lived on the Mexican border for about six months and don't mind it but still made me scratch my head a little. I feel like I went here yearsss ago and it was much different. I noticed now first thing - the positives : big and overall clean. Cons. It was insanely expensive. The books were priced like 3.99 and up. I picked up one book and it was $6.99 for a generic novel. Also Walmart brand new pants $13.99 Outrageous prices. They also did not have fitting rooms- they blocked them off. I remember before it being a little more eclectic and I actually kind of liked that more . The actual housewares section was small I didn't even bother looking. All the artwork they had was super faded. They have self checkouts ? So odd . Definitely won't be back. read more

Came here after seeing this store featured on a reseller's You Tube channel. As a part time reseller myself, and lover of all things thrift, I'm always on the hunt for someplace new to add to my rotation. It was large and well organized, probably one of the best as far as organization. There were new items in the front, priced a little below retail, that probably came from Marshall's or HomeGoods. Clothing was plentiful. I didn't shop for clothing that day as I came looking for hard goods and linens. I found the pricing to be a little high and inconsistant. The small amount of vintage items I did see were higher than an antique store. The sale colors of the day were not prominently displayed and I had to ask what was on special. I actually had to go to three employees before I found one that knew the specials. Carts were hard to secure, I'm assuming they just don't have enough. While it was busy the Saturday I visited, it wasn't so crowded that you should have to wait on a cart. Kudos for great organization and large amount of inventory. While I did leave empty handed this time I'd stop again if in the area, but not make a special trip. read more

The staff is great, we finally have a great management team with Mrs D and Ron. I have been shopping here since it has opened. Now that Savors or Savers owns it it gone down hill in 4 months, PRICES HAVE DOUBLED IF NOT TRIPLED. Savors tried to compete with Second Ave before in this market and closed their stores. I do think they are trying to destroy the brand of Second Ave. Shelfs are empty, and what is being put out is stuff I would throw out or go next store to the dollar store. From above the store management team they are told to cut our and not produce . It looks like a going out of business sale. I have shopped at 3 of their other locations and the quality seems to be better. When you walk in the store you see how dead it is. And if they would ask people who shop there why it is that way you would hear it from many people. Even on sale days people would line up before opening, its not like that anymore. read more

RUDE MANAGEMENT*PREJUDICE AGAINST THE DISABLED* DISORGANIZED STAFF PROCEDURES* NO ACCOUNTABILITY!?! I see responses here but on their website there is no contact us, no store numbers or district managers or owners if they're franchised. I've been a faithful customer spending WAY more money than I should have over the years. I was upset when you changed your rewards program and made the 3 coupons I'd accumulated were suddenly OBSOLETE & "couldn't" be redeemed. However, after my experience over the telephone with the manager on duty tonight when I called to ask about 3 items I'm missing from the order I purchased this afternoon. Initially she stated anything could happen with bags left, the cashier can do whatever they want with them...keep them, put them back into inventory, etc. What? How is there not a procedure where bags left behind go to customer service, like in other stores. She told me I had to speak to the morning manager. She was EXTREMELY RUDE, disrespectful and obnoxious. The first issue was that when I asked for her name for reference when I called tomorrow morning, as she instructed, she hung up on me. Shocked, I called back twice because she wouldn't take my call; she told me she's not giving me her name, the district manager or store number or identifier; she said it's my responsibility to collect all of my bags. I informed her I'm disabled and cannot see over the counter where the bagging occurs, so if the cashier doesn't present my bags on the counter, I cannot see what he may have forgotten below the counter; she responded, "Sounds like a personal problem". She said she didn't get paid enough to put up with this shh" (unfinished) & how she didn't need this job because she has several others. Why isn't their a procedure when for whatever reason, a customer doesn't receive their property? If the cashier can take it or put it back on your shelves then isn't this stealing? She hung up on me twice, I CANNOT BELIEVE this woman is permitted to work with the public, she clearly doesn't like people, has TERRIBLE customer service and no respect for your store nor your clientele. I SPEND A LOT OF MONEY there, I ALWAYS have several coupons waiting. NO MORE! Your managers are a representation of your organization, she's showed you're SEVERELY INSENSITIVE TO HANDICAPPED PEOPLE, rude to customers & basically allows her subordinates to work without supervision or guidance and allows them carte blanche of customers paid items. I want to know exactly who I can contact to file an official Complaint of your Notth Wales, PA's store. If you don't hold these views, I strongly advise you end her position with you! So many jems found here! I love this place & their staff. Most prices are reasonable and on point with how thrifting should be. It's become a fad as of lately, so many stores are hiking their prices up. I drive about 45 minutes to get here and it's worth it every time! read more

This used to be me and my sisters' favorite thrift store; however, the prices have gotten ridiculously high! $6-$8 for Old Navy or Sonoma t-shirts, $25 for a jacket, $14.99 for a pair of pants.... I don't try things on at thrift stores and now 2nd Ave changing rooms are closed. I previously would load up on clothing, knowing that some might not work for me but I can no longer afford to do that. Its very disappointing that the merchandise has become so overpriced. We don't go as often as we used to as a result. read more

Sales on Sundays and Mondays: Sundays- Certain tag colors are 50% off Mondays- Certain tags are 50% and others are 1/3 off However, I wouldn't recommend you come here if you don't have patience. The parking lot and store both get mobbed on these days and the line for the fitting room is usually 5-6 people with full carts deep. However, the prices are just too high if you come on any other day; the prices on everything have been bumped up so the only time it's usually worth it to buy is on sale days. You can still find good things, it's just the waiting that sucks. read more

Clothes and more clothes. This place is spacious. They do a decent job of organizing their huge amount of clothing. They price their stuff high and you need to check in everyday for different half price specials. You can always find something here, though I haven't found anything too great. I suspect their staff has first dibs on all that. Often, I find something I sorta want, then leave it there because I don't want to wait in their long lines. I understand this is a thrift store, but I got a few things here for my daughter and none of them worked right or had all the pieces. We got a 200 piece puzzle, she did all she could, but it was missing 35 pieces. Why was that ever sold? We got 2 board games for a few bucks each, both were missing pieces and are basically useless. Someone needs to at least check the items they sell to make sure they can be used, being a thrift store does not mean items should be useless and missing a lot of pieces. No refunds either which basically means I wasted my money on cheap games that are broken, and a puzzle that is literally missing 20% of the pieces. What a waste. So many other stores I have gotten these kinds of items and never had a problem. Update: I went back and was able to exchange the items for something else, but please just me more aware of items that are being sold that are missing a lot of pieces. I know it is a thrift store, but it still sucks for people to buy things for their family and have to go all the way back when they are missing pieces, and not just a few. read more

2ND ave has a ton of things and this is a pretty busy store and very large too. I'm not into vintage clothes but this place is loaded with shoppers and isles and isles of clothing. I did take a peek at some of the things on the racks and did spot some Ralph Lauren Polo clothing that looked to be in great condition. I also can say that i saw many people with carts filled with clothes. They also have isles of stuff such as kitchen appliances and plenty of toys. The books section was small and the CD music section was small as well. The good news is that i found allot of great Cd's for great prices and some great DVD's too. Even scored some Anime !!! I used to love this store and could often find whatever I was looking for. Today I looked for black jeans, size 16 petite. I found 2 possibilities and then discovered that they removed the dressing rooms!!! Anyone who buys clothes second hand knows you can't trust the size tag, as the item may have shrunk from the original sizing. I was told I could exchange them within 14 days. Whoopee! I have to make another trip, and the likelihood I'd find another pair of petite black jeans is extremely slim. If I come back to exchange them I'd get a store credit which must be used that day. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! When this store first opened there were no fitting rooms and after enough customer complaints they put them in. Also I thought the prices have really increased a lot since I last shopped for clothes in the summer. I was going to bring a friend who is new to thrifting to this store but that is not going to happen now. There are other stores in the area where I will do my shopping from now on. read more

1st time in there and it wasn't clean. They have items on the shelf just shoved on there and things had spider webs and dust all over them. To add after being in there for 15 minutes they then send someone over to give us masks totally disregarding the governors orders. These masks were just chilling, as in not individually wrapped, and employees dirty hands all over them. Clearly not about your health. Won't be returning. read more

I love the size and variety this place has. The workers are friendly and continuously putting new stuff out so you can make multiple rounds and find new stuff lol. The prices are fair and I like their Sunday and Monday sale on certain colors Now for the reason of a 3 star instead of five..... A lot of the clothes are marked with tags with the wrong size. For example the pants I got were marked size 8 and were actually a size twelve according the the pants itself so I found a brand new pair of pants with the new tags still on for 10.00. Originally 58.00 from original retailer. So the only suggestion I would make is to make sure to check all the clothes and compare tags to clothes if you have the time, because you'll find stuff you didn't know about because they aren't sized right. But I drive almost an hour to go here because the quality of clothes is great. read more

They have a lot of selections but prices are higher than other thrift stores frequent (probably because the are for profit) They have a lot of inventory but a lot of bric-a-brac is broken and shoes can be very worn. Staff do not interact with customers and do not offer any help. Bathrooms are available if you ask but it is in the service area and not appealing. They do have sales but it's not always easy to find the colored item that are on sale. read more

There's good and bad. Sometimes their prices are outrageously high and the QA is frustrating - lots of stained or holes on items and I wish they'd weed that stuff out where appropriate (obviously a high end jacket with a spot is fine, but not a boys Nike tee with a hole and two stains for $5.99 - come on). They also seem to have a thing against resellers which is frustrating because they get an amazing amount of business from resellers - I'm not there everyday, maybe once a week, it's just something I enjoy. Some associates are friendly but some at the front of the store can be rude and standoffish with lots of loud conversation amongst themselves. The good side is that there's always a wide variety of items and lots of kids items which I appreciate for my own kiddos. read more

This place used to have Thrift Store prices and now- WOW. I 2ent in thete looking for blankets for my mom at the nursing home and the prices were like that if brand new blankets. $19-$29 for a used comforter. I could go next door to Big Lots and buy a brand new one for those prices. And the clothes- Ridiculous! $9.99 for used jogging pants. They are $6-$9 for new jogging pants. They know they are a Thrift Store selling used stuff right? And not Walmart or Burlington. I will go to Goodwill for my moms clothes from now on. Very rude especially the old guy with an Italian accent that always sits by the shoes in North Wales Store. He actually accused me of knocking clothes off the rack then not putting it back. When I actually saw it sitting on top of the rack and put it back where I found it. That didn't upset me as much as when I told him if I had done that, I would put it back. His smart remark was "you're not the type". As a 30-year, retired Navy Veteran I find that rude and this isn't the first time I've seen him arguing with customers there. I would have fired him on the spot the way the treat their customers. read more

I will only visit this store on Sundays and Mondays during their sales. They have plenty of items and stockers are always stocking. I often find great items at a reasonable price if I search hard enough. Some items are priced far too high; even higher than buying the item new. Items that are chipped, cracked, or broken are still priced incorrectly. They should consider a 99c or clearance section for these items. When I checked out the other day I decided to only get one of my three items because the other two were not on sale. I was very apologetic because I know it can be a pain, I have worked retail and I get it. I apologized a few times and the girl checking me out looked very annoyed and ignored me. When I was finished I said I was sorry again and I hope she has a great day. She looked past me and asked for the next customer. I was bummed! I hope she had a better day. read more

Probably the best thrift store in my area. First off, the place is huge, and it has nice wide aisles for easy browsing. I was in the electronics section in the back and I was testing out a clock since this store doesn't accept returns. With that being said I got yelled at for unplugging a plug and I politely told the guy that I was testing it out because I don't want to buy it if it's broken!! Luckily I didn't get kicked out but this is the worst customer service EVER!!!! This employee might've had a bad day so I'm going to give 2nd Ave. the benefit of the doubt and come back and give them another chance and hopefully I don't regret it. read more

2nd Avenue is a great store, I usually always find what I am looking for in here. The store itself is large and very clean, and though I sometimes get clothes and other items my main section is the CD/DVD section. The prices are fair, but my only advice is check the insides of the cases as many are empty and some have the wrong discs in them which can be a shame especially if it is a good find. Also, though it may not be the stores fault the parking lot is odd as it has a road dividing the parking lot in two right in front of the store (it connects to the other part of the shopping center) and you have to park to either side of the store instead of in front of it. Other than that, 2nd Avenue is awesome! read more

My mom who's totally into bargain shopping and was hoping to find something unique at this store and me, being the chauffeur, had to follow her into the store. I've been to a few second hand/thrift stores and this was one of the less memorable ones. Even though I did end up buying a desk lamp (my mom was badgering me to go look for something) I don't think I'd want to go back anytime soon. The store itself though pretty large and looked like there was a lot of stuff, the stuff wasn't all that great. Nothing stood out. Well, what did stand out was there were quite a few things that were either broken or missing half the items for the set/pair. The staff there seemed busy putting stuff away because most of the people here would pick things up and put them somewhere else so at least they're trying to get things organized, but for them constantly organizing, I didn't find them very helpful in finding anything. I asked if there was a outlet I could use to plug in the lamp I found and they couldn't help me with that. Anyhow, for clothes, I tend to go to Buffalo Exchange (even though I find most of their clothing overpriced and not worth it) and the other chachkies and such, there're are other stores that you can find unique and interesting items. Their prices are way too high, they need to cut it! This is a thrift store! It is supposed to be synonymous to bargains or economical. Yet, it's pricey and inflated, antonymous to a thrift store. Seldom do I pick up something that is a bargain. Others that have introduced me to this store seem to be a fan. Not I. I have seen so many clothes that are priced as a new item rather used. Layout-wise this store is unique to other thrift stores. It's large, opened space, clean, organized and usually without the thrift store odor. Employees seem to work hard. I never really had a question but they don't seem very engaging with customers who do. I live in Arizona and we have great dollar day deals at second hand shops here so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly delighted!! Everything was highly organized and the prices were great for the product you were getting. There were tons of good clothes to pick from as compared to many places where there is a lot of junk. I tried on at least 40 tops. And I have gotten a lot of compliments on the items I purchased. Don't pass this place by. In fact, I would highly recommend driving a long distance to get there, it's THAT worth it. I will definitely be bringing a half-empty suitcase the next time I come. read more

Located in what used to be called the "Sandy Brook Plaza", and in the space where the Woolco, and later Drug Emporium was. (Hey, no cracks about my age, whippersnappers!) Next to a Dollar Tree with good snack items, which is good b/c if you stay long enough, you'll be starvin'. Pros: Good stuff. Cheap. Pretty well organized. The "Showcase" has what they consider to be the 'higher end' items, jewelry and about 20 sets of kitchen knives. At the end of the month, they make most of the Showcase stuff 50% off. Lots of books, and cheaper than other places. So many, they give 'em to you cheaper if you buy more. Some appliances, AND a little table with outlets for you to plug 'em in. Recently added dressing rooms for try-ons, which I don't, but you could. Bunches of bags and purses, including fake "Kate Spades' which someone has always peeled the label half off of. Cons: Funky hours. No phone so you can call first and make sure they're open. One Sat. night they were closing at 6PM? Inconsistent pricing seems to be the norm at this chain (Value Village and 2nd Ave are one and the same). Toy section is either "GREAT" or s****y. Can't stay away from this one. Park once, hit "2", the Dollar Tree, and "US Toy" next door. Boo-yah! read more
