Three little figs is definitely where it's at! I popped in on a wet, cold, snowy Saturday morning for some breakfast and Java. My friend and I both noticed the bacon, egg and pepper biscuit breakfast sandwich special and went for it. We also shared the infamous lavender biscuit (Swoon). Let's start with the lavender biscuit. When drinking or eating anything lavender flavored it's hit-or-miss. You either have something that's delightful and you look forward to enjoying it again or it tastes like perfume and you get grossed out. Three little figs has mastered the lavender biscuit! It is soft and moist with not too much icing and and amazing lavender flavor. I now know why everyone raves about it in these reviews. Our breakfast sandwiches came out quickly and piping hot. Because they were crowded I did not ask to have my sandwich deconstructed, so I decided to dive in (braces and all!). I was like a kid in a candy store! The bacon was mildly sweet and thick cut, the eggs were fluffy and seasoned just right and the pepper biscuit was amazing! A little crunch on top and soft in the center. You can eat it all together or take it apart and savor the flavors one by one, which is what I did to half of it LOL But let's get to the best part, the coffee! Their Iced Cold Brew makes me want to camp out in front of the store every morning. Sip, Savor, Heaven! It's very mellow and doesn't need any sweeteners. Just a splash of half and half and you're golden, no pun intended. I regret not visiting this establishment sooner because it's now one of my top 10 breakfast spots in the Somerville area. Cute little brunch spot, perfect for Sundays! This is more of a cafe though, than a sit-down brunch-and-chow-down type of spot. The items are small and a la carte - a bit pricey, but everything is great quality. LOVE their lavender biscuit! Buttery with a slight brunch to it and just the perfect amount of lavender to make it slightly fragrant. I also got their veggie pie (only available on weekends) which was great and I especially loved the layered potatoes on the bottom - YUM. Looks like it was 5 years ago I reviewed this place and it was my first ever review on Yelp. Five years have now gone by since I left Boston and 7 since I moved there. Since then I've taken residence in both Southern and Northern California and during pandemic made my way back to my original home NYC. I drove to Boston last night and decided to spend the night so I can go up to 3LF hoping by some miracle someone would be there and I remembered and most importantly hoping somehow Becca (found out her name finally) still worked there. It was like I never left except things have gotten a bit more tech with social distancing and ordering through web but I saw faces there that my spirit needed to see. It was like coming home even though I never considered Boston my home. For two years everyday this place and Becca's amazing smile, hair in a bun and funky glasses got me up and gave me the shot of dopamine along with my extra shots of espresso that I needed to eventually allow Boston to grow on me. I am so happy to see this place is still thriving post pandemic and it's year worthy, wonderful group of lovely people are still serving smiles, dopamine and now a sense of hope for normal again. I love you 3 Little Figs, you're more then a coffee shop to some of us even as we go to places far far away in our life journey we always find a way to come back home, even if for a moment and even if not in the city we call home, that tiny portion of a city block you occupy is our portal to home. And as for Becca, I've already prayed to every god that in my next life I will see your lovely smile everyday in one form or another so for now I will be fine in this lifetime knowing I can get to it even if it's only once every few years (although I'm closer now could probably squeeze in a trip monthly). It's packed on weekends so if you want to sit down and eat/drink be aware of that. I ordered an Egg Feta sandwich, a couple of pastries and a coffee. The sandwich was okay....kind of overrated. The bread was soggy and the egg could have been cooked a little more. Despite that, i'd come back every weekend just for the Lavender Biscuit. I mean, damn. That thing was insanely bomb. Great little brunch/lunch spot: emphasis on the 'little', this place is small. It's a favorite in the area to stop in and sit for a while so seats don't really open up that often and on weekends there's a line out the door. There is additional seating in the building next door, but it was dark and uninviting so we decided to get lunch to-go. The sandwiches we tried were fantastic - the market sandwich and the BLTA sandwich were both fresh and a decent size - I was definitely full for a while after eating. The egg in the breakfast sandwich is super fluffy and well seasoned and the brioche bread is really tasty. The chocolate pistachio cookie is heavenly. Love the texture of it and the addition of pistachio. I gotta say I was a bit disappointed with the lavender biscuit that everyone raves about! THIS PLACE IS ADORABLE! Where do I start? The staff is incredibly friendly, menu items are all delicious and innovative, and espresso beverage offerings are delicious. They also go out of their way to only use the best local products, including milk for all espresso beverages. Their honey, yogurt and granola is the best I've ever had. Now I need to reevaluate everything that I thought I knew about myself and my food preferences! I love hipster coffee shops, and this is definitely one in that genre. Even though the location is quite small, they have used their space effectively. It was delightful to spend a half hour there, and even my boyfriend, who has no love for coffee and coffee shops, was happy with his poppyseed muffin and bottled orange juice. In a fit of Homer Simpson hunger, I had an Amazing Race-style search for a donut. On a sunny Saturday, my friends and I decided to go fancy donut hunting, only to find obstacle upon obstacle on our journey to gluttonous fulfillment: Me: "Hey guys, there's a cool donut pop up shop run by some Top Chef contestant in the south end this weekend. Let's go!" We stroll into The Butcher Shop circa 10:30 and the waitress looks at us like we're crazy / entirely misinformed: "The donuts sold out in 30 minutes, at 9:30. People had lined up since 8-something." #FAIL Me: "Wait, guys! A friend told me about some place called Union Square donuts. Let's go!" *CLOSED* We had been 15 minutes too late. #FAIL Finally, I open my Yelp app, type in "donut", and we decide to go to the first result with great ratings. We stumbled upon a cute little cafe with outdoor seating, plenty of 20-30-somethings, parents with kids and dogs alike awaiting their muffin/sandwich/coffee fix. Painted in blue and white (presumably paying homage to the owner's Greek-American heritage), it's got a menu packed with dabbles of Greek influence. We had the apple cider donut muffin, a chocolate mini-bunt, the bacon cornbread muffin, and the lavender biscuit, along with a few lattes. All were good, depending on whether you're craving something sweet or savory, but I'm a sweet tooth to the core, so my favorites were the apple cider donut muffin, the chocolate mini-bunt, and the lavender biscuit. Part of their weekly routine is to take the 4 top table for ages. That's sort of OK, we all want to stay st 3 Figs for ages. But they have a new twist. Their infant's strollers are stored between the table and the window, eliminating access to the two window seats behind the 4 top. I asked, rather politely how long would the strollers block the window. They are mom's after all. We do need to be kind and polite. Their reply, "It will be a while, we're nursing". I was a bit startled. So I'm now thinking I'll borrow my niece in her stroller so I can stay as long as I wish? Love you 3 Figs, but I am so confused. Maybe later. P.S. This newish cafe and bakery has replaced Cafe Lola, which while similar, was pretty mediocre. With an updated look and style, this new place welcomes you with a cozy and welcoming experience. This place is family run and they are very friendly. And they bake some amazing things, from avocado muffins to donut muffins, honey cake and various other goodies. There's even a very creative lavender biscuit which I have yet to try but have been eyeballing on my past few visits. Luckily this place is a fifth of a mile away from my place so I'm sure I'll get around to it soon. Aside from the baked goods they have various sandwiches like their Lil Figgy ($4.50) which features almond butter, banana and honey on 7 grain bread. It's a pretty darn tasty combination. There's also the delicious egg and feta sandwich which features a few leaves of arugula as well and which is served on a brioche. Get it, it's incredible. There's a few more of them and there's also scones, cupcakes, baklava and toast. It's all made in-house, it's all delicious and best of all, it's all affordable and served with a smile. The decor itself is blue themed, reflecting the family's Greek heritage? Possibly, I'm not sure but it's definitely warm, inviting and pretty adorable. The lamps made from old mixer heads is definitely a cool touch although the place isn't all that big and seating can be hard to get. Especially on the weekends when the place is pretty much packed all day. As far as their coffe goes, their organic blend is terrific. Some of the best I've had and it's pretty smooth as well and doesn't have much bitterness to it. I've had their macchiato, their mocha, their cappuccino and it all came out great. Their barista knows his stuff and does some neat designs on the milk foam as well. I'm trying very hard to find negative things to say about this place but there really isn't anything that I can think of. Maybe the fact that there's only street parking? Meh, I can walk there so it's no issue for me. Their $5 minimum to pay by card is also pretty awesome. i LOVE this place! I used to work in somerville and would walk over on stressful days. I mainly get an iced vanilla latte and it is totally worth the $5 every time. The milk they use is real milk.. i forget what its called. so good! The apple cider muffin is also a fave of mine. Love, love, love! This place couldn't be any more adorable, and all the treats we shared were amazing. My friend Emily and I came in on part of our epic walk and decided splitting some things was more than deserved. We shared the gingerbread muffin, the goat scone, and the village sandwich. The sandwich consisted of roasted sweet potato, arugula, goat cheese, sundried tomato, a honey & olive oil drizzle, atop 7 grain bread. It was delicious, though I would absolutely suggest either pulling the guts out of the sundried tomato because the skin was too tough and not really chewable. It was good flavor, just not functional too eat. The goat scone wasn't too heavy, which was my concern, but it was light and flaky. The gingerbread was so good-rich in flavor and very moist. I suspect there was some sort of fruit puree in there to make it so moist. The decor is so cute, and the space was small but clean and not awkwardly set up. I like the open kitchen, and that the bathroom is really clean. Coffee shops should have EXCELLENT bathrooms, and this one does. Kudos to 3 Little Figs for having pre-wrapped goodies at the counter, as well as the case of baked goods-the cookies were hard to resist sitting there. This is literally my favorite bakery of all time. In my opinion, it's even better than SF's Tartine *GASP* ! I'm not much of a pastry person, but Figs has me hooked. What I love about this place is that it's consistently amazing and they always come up with new, super creative menu items. Their muffins are damn good. I've tried their Chai Muffin, French Toast Muffin and their Sugar Donut Muffin. They are all just done so well. The Chai has a delicious espresso icing that is really really strong. The French Toast looks adorable and tastes even better. The Donut muffin is verrry heavy! Not my thing, but if you're into heavy pastries then go for it. My favorite thing to get here? LAVENDER BISCUIT ($3.25)!!! You have not lived until you've tried it. It can do no wrong. The icing with the soft biscuit holds an incredible lavender flavor. The essence it amazing! It was delicious - not too salty, but lots of flavors. The egg and feta was very fluffy and the brioche bun was soft. I really liked the flavor the prosciutto and the arugula added to the sandwich. One of my friends got the egg biscuit sandwich, which was also good - the bacon is thick cut and has a maple flavor. My friends said the coffee was good. After eating here, I felt like I had missed the punchline to a joke that everyone else got. 3 Little Figs seems to be going for the layout of a coffee shop with a Greek-themed brunch menu. Even though they're successful at combining the two concepts, they're not successful at making it work. The place is nice enough, albeit a little crammed, but it's the food I had the biggest problem with. Take my dish for example, the lox on toast. To be fair, it was extremely fresh and the plating was impeccable. But it had yogurt on it. Yogurt belongs in a marinade, sauce, or as a dip. It doesn't belong under my capers and lox. The flavor wasn't awful but it lacked the smooth texture of cream cheese that holds everything together. I may be a barbarian, hell, I KNOW I'm a barbarian, but I didn't like it and gave up halfway through. My girlfriend and her girlfriend ordered the brunch bowl and the egg and feta sandwich respectively. I can't speak for the friend but my girlfriend wasn't jumping out of her seat either. The afore-mentioned punchline that I think I missed is that 3 Little Figs is trying to provide a relatively healthy brunch menu. If so, they need to figure out how to make the flavors of their food come alive. Most importantly, they need to take it easy with the yogurt. There's yogurt on the B.L.T. for Christ's sake. At least for the lox, they should use cream cheese. They're not afraid to use feta and cheddar so cream cheese shouldn't disrupt the theme. Rye isn't the best choice of bread for lox. It's been known to happen but so has genocide. That doesn't mean it's a good idea. Finally, leave the capers on and banish the cucumbers to the side salad. Contrasting textures don't work with every dish and this is one of them. Despite lox on toast being full of soft, pillowy textures, the crunch of cukes is nevertheless unwelcome. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with the food from a technical standpoint. Everything was cooked and assembled how it should have been but it was remarkably lackluster nevertheless. It was the food equivalent of a kid coloring by number: Even if the kid stays inside the lines and does it right, the result isn't exactly Rembrandt. Cute little cafe with delicious food. When we arrived around noon on a Sunday, there was a line but it moved pretty fast and we managed to get a table while still in line. I had the breakfast bowl while my S/O had a egg & feta with bacon. The brunch bowl had a good balance of savoury and sweet, with its turmeric sauce and walnuts mixed with dried cherries and sweet potatoes. We both enjoyed our meal, but find our coffee (ordered a soy latte and cappuccino) a little watery. Bought coffee beans and received a free cold brew with it. What a cute little neighborhood cafe! I've wanted to come here after hearing great things about their Lavender Biscuits, and I'm so glad I finally got the chance! After trying a few of their offerings, I have to say that their sandwiches are a lot better than their pastries. I've tried the Lavender Biscuit, the Olive Oil Citrus Cake, and the Egg and Feta Sandwich. Both the Lavender Biscuit and the Olive Oil Citrus Cake have an overly sweet icing on top, which I had to scoop off because it was chokingly sweet. The olive oil cake was a bit stale when I bit into it, perhaps because it had been sitting out for a while. I preferred the biscuit - super soft, and the lavender flavor really shone through once I removed the icing. I would definitely get this pastry again if they switched out the icing with something less sweet (would love to see some sort of spiced glaze). The Egg and Feta Sandwich is what's going to keep me coming back for more, and it's the reason I'm giving this place 5 stars. The latte art was great, the microfoam was well textured, the drink wasn't too hot and the espresso cut through the milk quite nicely. All-in-all it was a great drink. A small menu that will blow you away with every bite, a quaint atmosphere full of natural sunlight and yummy beverages, even for us freaks who don't drink caffeine. LOVE! Perusing the menu, I decided on The Market sandwich. But, when I heard the woman in front of me order one and the kitchen respond "that's the last of the francese", I was a little heartbroken. I must have not been sly about my inside tears, because when I got to the register they told me they had enough for one last half sandwich. Hallelujah! Prosciutto, creamy goat cheese, arugula and fig jam on the francese was absolutely delicious! It was light, refreshing and blew away my expectations. The addition of a couple of sliced cucumbers, with an olive oil drizzle and pepper, on the plate set it over the edge. No chips needed here. Truthfully, I don't know how I will convince myself to try anything else in the future. A+! Not willing to leave without trying something from the bakery case, I took a lavender biscuit home (fine, fine it never actually made it home). A fresh biscuit with lavender, topped with icing and sliced almonds, who could resist? The addition of the icing made it subtly sweet and just right for me; another winner! I had the spinach pie and my sister had the prosciutto sandwich which we ordered and paid for online. Both were incredible and ready to go by the time we arrived. So sad they were out of lavender scones by the time we got there, but this was definitely worth the stop! read more

Extremely cute cafe with tasty food. 3 Little Figs is one of those places you know you will like even before your first visit. The decor matches the cute yet slightly whimsical name and the baked goods look unique and delicious. I ordered the prosciutto sandwich and an iced tea. The tea was surprisingly good for something so simple and the sandwich definitely delivered. They used good quality and fresh ingredients. I always appreciate getting delicious thinly sliced prosciutto (instead of a dried-out, leathery, andsalty knockoff). The fig jam and the cucumber mini side salad were nice touches. They have WiFi, but unfortunately no outlets, making not ideal for working. I look forward to becoming a regular and trying some of their pastries and coffee. read more

Can't emphasis how much I like this place. I absolutely recommend this please due their delicious limited items n the menu, their cozy ambiance and their prompt service. My roommate and I ordered brunch bowl, egg and feta cheese sandwich, ginger scone with a cup of Latte and a cup of green tea. Everything was beyond my expectation. Simply the best brunch/breakfast place in Somerville! Everything was perfect, prices were reasonable... I wish we had a place like that back in Brussels. If you have the chance to try the roasted mango yogurt, go for it! I still remember the taste of the mango puree today as it was excellent. Easily my favorite coffee shop in Somerville - I wish it were closer so I could walk next door every morning! I like coffee drinks that aren't too bitter, but still have that subtle caffeine kick, and the lattes here hit the spot. Plus the latte art is always so well-done and nice to look at. Their scones are delicious. The lavender biscuit was good, although I myself didn't think it was that special (but it didn't matter because I had my delicious coffee and [other pastry here]). There isn't much sitting space, so getting here in the early hours will get you a seat if you're planning on having a larger or extended meal. read more
