I had high expectations for this chain cafe, but it ended up being a very disappointing experience, even though the dining environment is great. Unfortunately, the food did not feel worth the money I paid.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon after exploring Harvard. The line took about 20 minutes for me to get to the register. It was a little difficult to find seating for 4 people, and we waited until a table left before sitting down. I'm not sure if clearing tables is the customer's responsibility or the staff, but the lunch plates were never cleared in the hour I spent there to enjoy my pastries and drinks. The pastries were by far the star of the show, deliciously sweet and decadent without being too sugary, and we chose the sugar vanilla donut and the morning bun (their cinnamon roll). As you can see, my group snapped it up before I could grab a pic! However their drinks left much to be desired. I had the tatte house latte and I thought that the cinnamon was overwhelming and the other flavors (cardamom, honey) were faint. My mom simply had a latte and she said it was mediocre. My little brother's mango mint refresher was decent, and so was my uncle's cappuccino. The coffee itself didn't shine through either. They do offer oat milk substitutes which was nice. I will say that the interior was nice, location is convenient, and as is with all popular places, it gets particularly busy on the weekends.

A friend and I ordered two drinks: an Iced matcha latte and the tatte house latte! The tatte house latte surprised me so much! It has a cinnamon-like taste, and it was subtly sweet, just the way I like it. The matcha latte was pleasing to look at it especially with the logo written in cursive. The taste was equally very good! Service was kind and quickly responsive! There were a lot of families around noon on a Sunday. A couple of accidental spills occurred yet the staff and the people there were able to help each other, so already the environment felt quite friendly and supportive in this regards! In spite of the gloomy day, the interior lighting created a warm, kind atmosphere.

great place with great ambiance. staffs are so friendly and polite. for foods... 1. fresh corn and avocado farro bowl: love it!!! like all body needs were fully covered due to their ingredients and mostly, they use all fresh and from the scratch 2. smoked salmon and avocado tartine: so good and the salmon is yummy 3. pistachio croissant: flaky which is great!!! the pistachio itself so good and right sweet 4. pineapple passion fruit matcha bombe: must try!!! love the taste though, can taste the matcha flavor cause not that sweet and suddenly when you scoop the filing which is passion fruit, a bit sour but by mixing them all, you can not stop eating it 5. white peach and mint tea cooler: for me, just ok love this place and will come back for sure when i visit east coast again...

Very delicious place, i like everything just by looking at all the food. Their cannolis place is always crowded and the manage to have everything very clean and the food presentation was very good also, i tried just a few things and everything was delicious, the staff is fast but the food is not, any ways by the time you find a table you food will be ready, price was reasonable i think. Honestly is totally a must in Boston.

Tatte Bakery & Café has a ton of locations around Boston, so I figured I'd give it a try. As a disclaimer, this was my first time trying Mediterranean food (and also my last). I was feeling adventurous and ordered a few things I'd never heard of, but honestly, this was probably the worst food and drink experience I've ever had. I didn't finish a single dish, which says a lot because I'm usually very against wasting food. The food was at least edible, but the honey halva latte was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted, and that's coming from someone who regularly drinks black coffee. Very disappointing for my first meal in Boston.

Summer flavors of their tea coolers- peach mint on the right, mango ginger on the left

Tatte, we sure liked you a latte! Visited Boston/Cambridge for 28 hours on our girls' adventures in New England! After wandering around Harvard, we grabbed an amazing lunch at Latte in Harvard Square! We each had the summer drink specials- faves were the white peach and mint tea, mango and ginger tea! Our plates were perfect- absolutely perfect- the crunchy halloumi salad was the best salad I've had in many moons- I think of it too often! My friends went the sandwich route with filling options of the turkey avocado and the short rib grilled cheese. As a sweet treat, we shared a vanilla lime krembo- if you have a sweet tooth, you're going to love this- the lime curd center was the cat's meow for me! There are many Tatte locations, but to be able to enjoy the sunshine and delicious treats across the way from the gates of Harvard University... well, there isn't a better spot!

    Apple turnover
    Madison P.

First time visiting boston so of course I had to try Tatte bakery. They had a huge selection of pastries but I decided to order an iced vanilla latte and an apple turnover. Iced latte: (5/5) Vanilla wasn't too sweet and the espresso was good quality. Apple turnover: (4/5) They didn't serve it warm which I found odd but besides that it was good. I'm not sure if u can ask them to warm it but if you can I would suggest doing so. Overall this place was good but the line is usually really long (especially the bathroom!!!) and there's so many cafes to try in the area so I would rather explore others the next time i'm in boston.

I work in Cambridge and wish there was a Tatte back home in RI! This is one of my all time favorite cafes. It's esthetically beautiful, welcoming, and gives off upscale classy cafe vibes. The cafe is very clean and the Harvard Square location even has an upstairs. There is plenty of seating. Since I drive in for work, I often have my vehicle with me and it can be a very busy area. I got lucky this time and found on street meter parking right outside the building. The cashier was a superstar! She offered great suggestions and I splurged and got every single thing she recommended. Amazing service from each person at the cafe. The staff is so attentive. Upon ordering, my pastries were already bagged and delivered once I cashed out. I got an Iced Pistachio latte and it was delicious! Being a Coffee-Holic - Usually these Pistachio lattes are hit or miss if it is not made right or too artificial but Tatte's Pistachio Latte was absolutely perfect! Smooth, velvety, great quality, and a nice subtle flavor. Just a heads up, it does have some texture in it with the Pistachio's but I really enjoyed it. If you're not a texture person, I would recommend a flavor shot latte. I also got the ham and cheese croissant and chocolate croissant - warm and flaky! 10/10!!!

We stopped by for a quick breakfast at this place twice during our trip. The bakery items looked great and the ones we tasted were really delicious. Most of the sandwiches were great except one that was little too salty. French toast was amazing. The service is friendly and quick. This place gets crowded so if you are looking for calm relaxing coffee time, this place is not it.

Butternut squash hummus and roasted broccolini pita
    Rebecca D.

One thing about this Tatte location - it's gonna be crowded. Weekends are the worst but even on weekdays it can be hard to find a seat. They did just open the second floor seating back up which makes it a little cozier (and easier to find a seat). There's still outdoor seating right now but I'm not sure if that's only because the weather so far has been pretty mild. I have ordered the same thing the last two times I came - the butternut squash hummus and roasted veggie pita. I love it! The roasted veggies pair so well with the creamy and savory hummus. The hummus flavor is very unique - the butternut squash makes it really smooth with a hint of sweetness, and there's a nice kick from the spices (I think I mainly taste cumin). The pita itself is fluffy and warm and they don't skimp on the veggies. Wish this wasn't a seasonal item!

Love this Tatte location in Harvard! The chocolate croissants are my absolute favorite--flaky, buttery, and always fresh. Great coffee, friendly staff, and a cozy spot to sit and enjoy the buzz of Harvard Square.

Black sesame Latte with oat milk
    Julie Y.

I always love the black sesame latte from Tatte! It's very smooth with a subtle black sesame flavor. I also tried the pistachio croissant this time and it was a little dry inside. This location is very busy and difficult to find seating.

Staff do not read their tickets carefully and as a result deliver food orders to the wrong customer. Is it really that difficult?

Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful and even with a line out the door, they were able to keep things moving smoothly. They also gave us small chai samples while we waited to be helped (the chai was spicy and not overly sweet). The baklava and kataifi were perfect -- no notes. Baklava had a great ratio of flaky pastry layers to walnuts. Each bite had the right about of crunch and nuttiness. The amount of syrup used was just right also. Kataifi struck a similarly great balance: a crunchy and sweet shredded wheat exterior rounded out by the richness of pistachios. I wish I could come here all the time and try everything. Nowhere to sit, so another challenge. Good selection of croissants and croissant-adjacent items like caneles and pain swisse. Friendly staff; no pretension. My first visit in well over a year on a late weekday morning tried a troika of chocolate-themed items. -- Chocolate Croissant: Not warm (and I wouldn't expect that past 9am), but very fresh feel, very slight greasiness on the bottom, plenty of flakiness on top, and decent fluffiness inside. A good bite, yielding plenty of croissant shrapnel, a light but pleasant buttery taste, and just the right amount of chocolate. A winner. -- Pain Swisse: This varied from others I've had, not having the typical stringiness around the perimeter that feels like raw pasta to the bite, but that was a plus. The bigger noticeable divergence was a much-lighter-than-typical custard presence inside, deferring to the dominant, high quality dark chocolate. The dough around it had good flavor and a nice light crunch, so whether central casting Pain Swisse or not, this satisfied. -- Chocolate Chip Cookie: An unusual rendition, with a dough darker than typical and also boasting some red tint hinting at red velvet. Soft, deliciously rich, and buttery, with the chocolate having a nice melt to it even late in the morning. Salt added some contrast without going overboard as some do. -- Coffee: High in temperature, acidity, viscosity, and flavor. A good match for their baked goods. Overall, still living up to the promise of the first visit, and taking some license with the classic recipes is fine by me with their high level of execution.
