Food was very good, service was great but drinks are pricey, 2 margaritas cost us $25, place was nice inside

The Mexican food here is excellent with great seasoning, quality, and quantity at an affordable price. We discovered this restaurant our second day in the OBX and had to return one last time before we left. Keila was our server both times. She was so friendly and gave great service. She remembered us from our first visit. They have a wonderful lunch menu until 3:00 each day. I would HIGHLY recommend 3 Tequilas for lunch or dinner!! read more

I usually am not one to do this, but I have given this place 3 chances and that's fair. All 3 times we have been there our service was awful, 3 different servers, 3 different trips, cmon now. Last night was the final straw, there were 9 of us so I get how that can be a little overwhelming but when someone at our table doesn't even get their food and they tell him oh well the kitchen is closed?! When he ordered WAY before the kitchen closed and when everyone else at the table ordered their food. Also the waitress didn't even address it, she ignored it like it never happened. Very poor customer service. Ordered food over the phone to-go. 4 items, she said I'd be ready in 10-15min. As we were leaving, noticed there was a steak bowl missing. I called in to let them know we were missing the bowl and the ladie said to a co worker " you forget the bowl?" Then responds to me an says come in we will fix it. I live in Colington. My mom was out so I had her go pick up the missing item. She arrived home with 4 tacos. I noticed it wasn't a bowl obviously and called again. They ladie did not apologize or say anything. Now I'm back again for the 3rd time to receive the bowl and I've been sitting here almost 30 minutes and counting.... anyways I'm local and will not suggest this place to anyone and will not be returning. Just go to plaza if you want the same style and identical menu. Update we received a chicken bowl instead of the steak bowl. After 3x they couldn't get it right. At the end they offered to credit next visit. Which there won't be another visit. Doubt they'd remember. I've called the past 2 hours trying to speak to a manager and they won't let me speak to him. read more

If you are looking for good food and fantastic service, 3 tequilas is the spot for you. I have eaten here about three times since they have opened with each trip being a success. However, our last venture was particularly enjoyable. We ordered three entrees and drinks, all of which came within ten minutes of ordering. Our waiter was extremely personable and checked on us many times throughout our visit. I am beyond impressed and would highly recommend eating here at least once during your time on the Outer Banks. read more

We have been here a three times in the last 3 weeks. The food is some of the best Mexican Food we have had. Unfortunately, the service from the greeting to getting your check is terrible. There isn't a system for seating guests...if they want you to move from the front door they will likely forget you because you are not in their face. They have you put your name on a waitlist that gets trashed or lost within minutes. Once seated we had to ask for our waiter after watching others get their drinks and meals. Extremely poor service and mediocre food. We had to ask multiple times to get drink refills, hot sauce, etc. Our entire table sat without drinks and missing food items for a lengthy amount of time. When this was brought to the managers attention, he was unapologetic and rude. Do yourself a favor and take your family to anywhere but this place. read more

Another really great place. Party of 5 no wait on Wednesday evening. We passed this place on Tuesday it was packed for Taco Tuesday. Knew this was a place to try. Fresh Guac is made at your table. Chips and Salsa were standard for all tables and was really good. Esquite Alegria (Roasted Corn off the Cob) was really tasty as well. Waitress was great and gave suggestions/recommendations. Burrito San Jose, the chorozio was perfect with the grilled chicken, Several members ordered Combo meals and everyone was happy with meal. Didn't make dessert here either. If I need to eat Mexican food while at OBX, this is my new place. Thanks for the great service and really good food. Margherita's were picked by 3 of the group. All loved them. Unfortunately the visit was far less than enjoyable. We did not mind the wait as it is the peak of summer. The food was very mediocre and lacked flavor. We had a variety of dishes including: seafood chimichanga, tacos de carne asada, tacos de pollo and burrito tejano. The tacos tasted more like Indian cuisine (covered a curry flavor?????) seafood chimichangas were covered in lobster bisque sauce which was off putting to the meal and burrito lacked flavor in all aspects. Switch lanes to the drinks, they are the worst part of the experience. We ordered a house margarita and it was the worst I've ever had. It was all sour mix and tasted like pure sugar. The waitress explained its a premixed batch so it's understandable (disgusting). It was so unbearable we only had a fourth of the drink. We understand high volumes during the summer however we didn't have refills on water for our 30 minutes, no chips with the appetizers and took our card for the bill and never returned. As a frequent goer in the Outer Banks, we are crossing 3 Tequilas off our list of restaurants to return too. read more

We had a great lunch here! The chips were served hot and fresh. Salsa was great. We ordered the homemade guac which was made fresh table side and was delicious. Our server was wonderful. The best thing was that our regular sized margaritas were HUGE and also very good! There were 6 of us, and we all loved our meals. 2 of us ordered the lunch sized fajitas, and the servings were very generous. My daughter and husband loved their enchiladas. Tamales were on point too. All the food was well seasoned and fresh. Overall just a wonderful experience, and we will be back! read more

oh my god. every last bite i took in the premises of this restaurant were absolute heaven. i'm very very picky about my enchiladas and this is the first time i have eaten an enchilada and had absolutely zero complaints or tweaks. the rice and beans were soft and perfect. the cheese was otherworldly. i am not an alcohol drinker but the chili powder on the michelada was to die for. there's stuff for kids here as well, and they really have picks for everyone in the family. they also had complimentary chips and salsa which were delightful. the quesadilla was amazing, and i'm no fan of quesadillas. this is officially the best restaurant i have reviewed. read more

This is the most AMAZING Mexican food this beach has ever had. The service is also 5 star and everyone is friendly, funny and knowledgeable about the cuisine! I have yet to eat the same thing twice there (and I eat there a lot!) There are so many flavors to experience and have never been disappointed. Forget the margaritas - I'm hooked on the Mexican Coffee for these cold months. I'll go back to their delicious, innovative margaritas when the weather warms up. We've been here three times. The first two we had a nice male waiter. The third a female who was unbelievably rude! If I had to guess she is positively green with jealousy. By reading the other negative reviews it is obvious the owner doesn't care as I am assuming she's his daughter. I'll never spend my money here again and wish I never had. They operate business as though they were in Mexico, no surprise there! I'll spend my money where people know how to treat patrons with dignity! read more

Most amazing enchiladas I've ever had - real beef and veggies inside with a mix of white and enchilada sauce on top of rice which is also flavored with the awesome sauce. Don't waste your money or time. Had a party of 15, staff was less than enthused from the beginning. Food took a while which is understandable but it should at least taste good. Whole party also ordered dessert. The fried Icecream was disrespectful and covered in Rice Krispies. When someone in our party asked for something else, the food runner put her hand on her hip and says "what do you want me to do with it, throw it away and bring you the same thing because you're still going to pay for it". Tried to address the waiter who said the same thing, sorry it's not to your standard but you will be charged for it. Tried to explain that the ice cream looks nothing like what's on the menu and the waiter's response was "all the pictures on the menu may be different from what you actually get. Those are stock photos. They obviously feel comfortable to behave this way because our party was large and gratuity was already added to the bill. Service has greatly diminished since they first opened. Be careful using a credit card. They recently upped the tip amount on mine as I left what they deserved for sorry service but they wanted more. The charge is in dispute now. Thankfully I keep my credit slip. Dishonest and hope they get caught. Sad, it used to be a favorite of mine. read more
