    Vegetarian Combo #4
    Bob V.

Wonderful, friendly service is a strong part of the high marks here. The atmosphere is welcoming and festive. There's nothing particularly innovative on the vegetarian menu, but at least it's there, with multiple combo options, and that is greatly appreciated! My Spanish rice and tostada were good. The cheese enchilada gets a lower score; the sauce needs a bit of work, as it was insipid, without piquancy or depth. But high marks on the adequate sauce volume provided; there's nothing worse than a dry, under-sauced and over-cheesed enchilada, and this was definitely not that. The complimentary chips and salsa were also greatly appreciated; too many Mexican places have started charging for this, and I find that reprehensible. The salsa had a nice spicy punch, a bit more than typical in this type of restaurant, and was great on the tostada.

Food and service were excellent. I feel like the low star rating is old, from past issues.

Peeps, I had the pleasure of dining here for a week vacay! Let me start off by saying the Customer Service is Phenomenal, they make sure you are taken care of even if you are carry-out! The food is Ahhhmazing I got The Fajita Salad and you did not need any dressing. It was enough for two meals. Now, Hear me out, I do not like green peppers, but every other color and spice I love! They cooked the green peppers, onions, and beef to perfection! I ordered the 3 tacos for my husband and he said they were the best he has ever had. The food has a real authentic Mexican taste. Did I also mention my order came with Chips and Salsa, and the salsa had just the right amount of heat. I am definitely coming back.

I've grown up going to La Fogata's and let me tell you they never disappoint. I love the staff so much they feel like family now and always ask how things are going in life and sometimes even know my order before I say it. The food is fantastic, I normally get the ACP or just a chicken quesadilla, and that's definitely basic but it's just so banging that I'm scared to switch up. It's normally a very comfortable environment (unless there's a huge party or something) and I look forward to seeing so many people I know and the awesome staff. So get to know your server because they're the sweetest people.

The food was mushy and not very flavorful. It was quite a disappointment and not worth the costs. The salsa tasted more like tomato juice.

Nice atmosphere with good service. Typical choices of Mexican food with generous servings. Salsa has a mild kick, not overwhelming.

I guess the Rockfish tacos were a daily special, so I ordered the "World Famous" Mahi tacos while Ms T ordered a crabcake sandwich. I think we were both a little disappointed. Her sandwich was definitely for bun lovers. She tore off enough bread for another sandwich and still had plenty. Restaurants are often guilty of conflating a huge bun with good sandwich. She was not particularly impressed with the crab cake, saying it was overloaded with thyme. I ordered my Mahi "blackened" and it really was not. The seasonings were good although also heavy with thyme. The flour tortillas were of poor quality, very thin and leathery and not provided hot. Hence the tacos were room temperature when eaten. I liked the finely shredded cheese that was not served refrigerator cold. The white sauce they serve is just wrong for these tacos. It is too sweet, too tart, making it harsh. Instead, I used the sauce that came with her crab cake and that was much better. Finally the mahi was very dry. I guess that is kind of the way that mahi is, but this really needed plenty of sauce. Kudos to them for serving good jasmine rice. This was not as good as we remembered. It is OK, not great and could be improved with just a few changes. We should have tried the burgers.

I've been here with a party of 12 before, and we definitely waited a while, but I was impressed that they were able to accommodate a group that size. This time, I was with a party of two and we were seated pretty quickly. My one complaint about the wait system is that they announce when your table is ready, but if you're out of earshot, you'll miss it. It would be nice if they used a text, call, or buzzer system so you could walk down to the beach while you wait. Part of the pier seating is covered, but the farther you go out, the more exposed you are. We were seated near the end, so it was hot in the direct sun and very windy. But that comes with the territory, and the views make it worth it. There are also plenty of birds hoping you'll share your fries with them, which is both expected and pretty funny. We each ordered a Pain Killer. It was good at first, but it quickly became watered down, and I didn't think it was worth $10. We also got the nachos, but the price adds up quickly once you start adding toppings. Most of the menu is very à la carte. The prices seem reasonable at first, but sides and toppings can add up fast. The burgers don't come with fries, for example. We both got the West Coast Burger. It was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was attentive and generally friendly. Overall, Fish Heads is one of the better dining options in the area. The pier setting and views really make the experience unique. I enjoy coming here and will likely be back.
