We had arranged to pay extra to meet her on the Friday (11/28) before our Saturday (11/29) wedding to pick up our desserts. We confirmed this pick up date multiple times. On Friday, 11/21 (at 8:25 pm), she emails us: "I'm able to deliver on Wednesday 11/26/25 at whatever time is most convenient for you. As we get closer to the date, I'll provide an updated delivery window. I am currently out of town for the remainder of the weekend on business and will be back on Monday." So, despite multiple confirmations that the order was to be picked up on Friday, she now has the wrong pick up date. On Saturday, 11/22, we responded: "Enjoy your weekend (even if it is on business)! We had talked about delivery on Friday, November 28th (not Wednesday, 11/26). Let us know if that Friday still works -- we are at your disposal on that Friday (11/28) to meet to pick up the cupcakes/cheesecakes at whatever time is most convenient to you!" On Monday, 11/24 (at noon) -- the Monday before our Saturday wedding -- she writes us: "I wanted to reach out regarding your event. I've just been informed that a family member I am caring for has a scheduled surgery, and I will be unavailable for at least three days following Thanksgiving. Due to this family emergency, I am unable to work or dedicate the necessary time to create these items. Unfortunately, with the short notice and circumstances, I will not be able to accommodate your desserts for Friday." We find it a little odd that, between late Friday night and by noon on Monday (the day she returned from a business trip), a family member she is taking care of would suddenly have surgery scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving (or even the week of Thanksgiving). Given that she tried to change the pick up date to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, was out of town on business until Monday, and then, at noon Monday, used a family member to avoid providing deserts the Friday after Thanksgiving (which was the agreed-upon date), it seems the most logical thing is this .... When she made the commitment to make the desserts, she did not realize it was Thanksgiving week and that she would be making our desserts on Thanksgiving for the Friday delivery. And, when she realized the promised Friday was the day after Thanksgiving, she used an excuse that garnered the most sympathy/understanding (family member surgery). We hate to sound uncaring about her situation or that a family member needed surgery, but it just seems like a made up excuse. If it is not, our prayers to her family member. If she had at least given us some advance notice that she was taking care of a family member or had circumstances that may interfere with her ability to make the desserts for our wedding, we could have made a contingency plan. For example, our caterer could have made the deserts with a little more notice. As it is, we had to scramble -- my daughter made 3 dozen cupcakes the night before the wedding and we ordered plain Harris Teeter sheet cakes for the rest. Perhaps the professional thing for Ms. Claire to have done was to call someone she knows who could have fulfilled the order or at least made the effort to find someone to cover for her. OR... if she had said she would need to change the delivery to Wednesday because of the situation, maybe we would have been okay with that (presumably the desserts would have still been okay on Saturday?), but she did not -- she just canceled.

They also warned us as we ordered about the menu/ drink change mentioned above, which helped prevent any unpleasant surprises. Food: Two of us got sandwiches and two got meals. I sincerely hope this review reaches the owner because I have never experienced anything like this in my life. Having worked in the service industry myself, I generally have a great deal of patience and understanding when dining out--especially in a busy vacation destination. I know that restaurants can become overwhelmed, and I rarely complain. In fact, before the evening of July 12, I had never walked out of a restaurant in the middle of a meal or complained directly to staff. Our party of five arrived around 5:30 p.m. after reading many positive reviews. We were seated immediately, and a few minutes later our server took our drink order. Three of us ordered beers, and my mother-in-law and I specifically asked if margaritas were available. We were told, without hesitation, "Yes," and our order was taken. We later discovered the restaurant doesn't even have a bar or serve liquor, meaning the drinks we ordered were never actually available. We waited...and waited...for drinks that never arrived. We asked about them multiple times and were repeatedly told they were coming. Eventually, our food was delivered before we had received a single drink. To make matters worse, we weren't given any utensils. Even after asking several times for both our drinks and silverware, nothing arrived. The food itself was unacceptable. Everything was served cold and only became colder while we waited for utensils. The final straw came when my husband's meal arrived with an ingredient he had specifically requested be left off. He politely sent it back. Less than three minutes later, the plate was returned to him, clearly the same meal with the unwanted ingredient simply picked off by hand rather than remade. I tried speaking with the staff--who appeared to be the only two employees working--and simply asked for utensils and the drinks we had ordered. I was met with blank stares and no meaningful response. There was no manager available to address the situation or assist in any way. We also weren't the only customers having problems. Another family waited an excessive amount of time for drinks for their children while a table seated after them had already received their beverages and meals. It was obvious that service throughout the restaurant was disorganized and inconsistent. At that point, we refused to eat the food. We simply wanted to pay for the three beers we had received and leave, but no one would bring us a check despite our requests. After waiting even longer, we finally left. Shortly afterward, another table also walked out, and a family waiting outside for a table decided to leave after we shared our experience. I never enjoy leaving negative reviews because I understand how difficult it is to run a small business. However, potential customers deserve to know what they may encounter. This wasn't just a slow night or an isolated mistake--it was a complete breakdown of service from beginning to end. One star is honestly too generous. Here's the deal: Antojitos restaurant features both traditional and Mexican-American with a more traditional leaning in ingredients and most importantly, flavor! One thing that makes this restaurant stand out is that the meat here is marinated and cooked in a traditional style including its Al Pastor option. Something many Mexican restaurants don't do or don't do well. This is then mixed with other ingredients that make the food vibrant, including pickled jalapeños with carrots, custom hot sauces, and Antojitos own crema among others. We tried fajitas which were some of the best I've had, Al Pastor gordita, chicken chile relleno, and a torta cubana. All amazing and made every person in my party want to come back during our trip. Portions are large, you will not go hungry. Prices are very reasonable and definitely less than restaurants "on the strip". The restaurant is medium sized with plenty of seating, including tables that can be used for large parties. Service was fantastic and with a smile. Drinks never went dry. If eating in the restaurant look for specials on the boards which don't appear on the menu. Highly recommend, I will definitely be back. We ate at the Powells Point location and it is absolutely worth the little drive if you are staying on the islands. Happy eating and see you there!
