I happened upon this place while on vacation at the beach. It was a cloudy day and we wanted some comfort food. I stopped in and the staff was awesome. Not a lot of seating but it's exactly what you would want, slightly intimate but spacious. They gave me really good recommendations based on what I said I wanted. I have the blackened mahi tacos based on the recommendation and couldn't be happier. If you happen to be in the area, stop in. You'll enjoy it. Service was great. Girl helping us was so friendly and welcoming. Son had the cowboy burger and he said that's been his favors since moving here and trying a few places. I tried the fried Bajan chicken sandwich. Loved the flavors, chicken was cooked perfectly. The hot sauce they make is delicious. Was spicy for my husband but decent for me. Loved the flavors. Wow! A must try with amazing food and service. Here's the deal: The restaurant is located in a small strip of businesses near the beach. Watch for it, it's in the middle of the strip and is a smaller shop. There is a good amount of parking out front so likely not a park and long walk. There is seating for approximately 25 people with bar seating along with several tables. The restaurant was noticeably sparkly clean, usually a good sign that the kitchen is just as clean too! Service was fantastic- very personable and friendly. We were waited on consistently throughout our time, drinks were never dry and food was delivered in good time. Our server noted that Food Dudes was established in 2008 so this is a proven and long standing restaurant because of its good food. He was not wrong! My party ordered a variety of sandwiches and each was well liked. Jerk chicken wrap, steak wrap and grilled chicken all very, very good with bright flavors, served with a huge portion of pico de Gallo and tortilla chips. Each was well portioned with plenty of protein. A standout was the pulled pork tacos with verde sauce. The pork was lean and tortilla grilled to keep it from getting soggy. Bold flavor and served with a rice and bean combination, this dish is must try, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the menu items here. Wine and beer are available. BLUF: Consistently excellent food served in a small, unassuming restaurant. I love Food Dudes Kitchen. I think it is some of the best food on the Outer Banks and the Blackened Tuna Nachos are the best nachos I've ever had. I also like the way they put their flour tortillas on the griddle to make the sides a little toasty and to give the tacos some shape. FDK always has a special board and I've never head a bad meal there. The restaurant is small and quaint. The probably only sit about 30 people and is best for smaller parties. Great spot with fresh food. Came for family dinner and everybody enjoyed it. We had Mac and cheese and nachos for apps, and they all went happily. Wife and son loved the burgers. I went with the mahi mahi tacos, which were not my favorite but everything was fresh and nicely made - the big portions of fish were well cooked but didn't have enough flavor to carry the tacos. They were lacking like a Baja sauce or even a lime wedge would had been helpful for the fish and the rice and beans. They were fine just not as amazing as the other items we tried. It doesn't look fancy from the outside, but this was one of the best meals we had during our visit to the OBX. If they are available you MUST try the ahi style tuna tacos with wasabi aïoli! I've been to Food Dudes several times and never had a bad experience. Fish tacos were among my favs; burger was awesome too - big and juicy with lots of fries. This place is the golden gem of Kill Devil Hills. Food was OUTSTANDING and service was excellent. They were slammed on the 3rd of July close to closing, but still let us place a takeout order for up to (4) items. All four dishes were excellent and would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and service without the tourist hype. Inside dining space / seating is limited, but very quaint. We were welcomed into this small, local , crowded place with several tables, some with wooden benches and a small bar. The ambiance was bustling and a bit noisy which was fine for us. The menu has lots of options such as fish sandwiches, tacos, bbq and salads. All of our hot sandwiches were freshly prepared, well seasoned, tender and perfectly cooked. The blackened fish and BBQ pork sandwiches were juicy and satisfying. In addition, they had a nice selection of local and craft beers. Great beach road spot! It's tucked away in a small section of shops - small interior so I'm sure it's packed in the summer. They serve a variety of wraps and tacos mostly, with some salads and other additions. Didn't try their Mac, but I've heard it's a standout. We got the salmon wrap (substituted the chips & pick for waffle fries & ranch) and the blackened shrimp taco special. The salmon wrap was phenomenal: goat cheese & pesto with blackened salmon was delish. The waffle fries and ranch were bland but the wrap was good (and big) enough for me to ignore that. Shrimp tacos were a hit as well! As for drinks, they just have beer & wine and sodas. They have a great emphasis on local beer - NC and even OBX. We had the People's Porter. All together, it was $50 for the two entrées and beer, before tip. Pricey, but it was so delicious I'd say it was worth it. Service was great as well. read more

We were in KDH overnight and looking for a bite. Yelp brought us here. The restaurant is in a small shopping center and isn't very big but apparently is very popular. We were greeted immediately and seated at the bar. I ordered a Kitty Hawk Blonde which I liked. I had the crab cake basket as my meal per the server's recommendation and it was good. Lots of meat, no filler and it includes two large cakes. I had to take a box home since I couldn't finish it all. I tried the mahi mahi taco too and that was also good. I see that the tacos are very popular here and wish I would have tried the shrimp tacos. I'll have to come back! read more

What a great local spot. Yeah I was a tourist visiting OBX, but this place was nestled in a small plaza within walking distance of my airbnb and the beach. We sat at the bar and ordered our food and it came quick. I had the best meal of my trip at Food Dudes. The fried mahi wrap! oh man, this thing was tasty. The wait staff was friendly and hardworking slinging drinks and taking orders. Food came out fast and the kitchen put out some great food. I also tasted the mac and cheese which came out piping hot and was very rich and thick. Great! I'd totally come back to Food Dudes. Decent food and good portions in a very casual setting. As a table, we ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with avocado salsa, the black bean burger, and the veggie quesadillas.
