Paint always does a fantastic job on my nails! The manager, Kris, is absolutely fantastic at figuring out exactly what I want polished and what is the healthiest option for my nails! The salon itself is very clean, with a laidback atmosphere. Everyone is very kind and accommodating. Plus they have free juice & champagne! I used to go to other traditional salons and felt like my natural nails were so weak that I had to keep going back to make sure my nails didn't break. At Paint, they use brands like Madam Glam, Emma, Gel-X, and Bioseaweed Gel as natural polishes. They also never use electric files or excessively file the natural nail. So now my nails are thick and healthy on their own so I don't have to keep polish on them to prevent breaking. But I've been coming to Paint for over 4 years now by choice because of how amazing their salon is! Parking is limited on Central Avenue, plus they ticket regularly if you don't pay at a meter or on the app. I'd recommend parking in the First Central Tower Garage off 1st South. So glad I found this amazing downtown location. Street parking is metered. I biked there, plenty of bike rack availability in front. If you are getting a basic manicure, I recommend the dazzle dry brand. It dries in 5 minutes. It's great because they don't use chemicals like dip powered and acrylic. You don't have to breathe that in. They have gel or basic options. If you are pressed for time get the lickedysplit manicure. An express manicure done in about 35 min. If you Add $10 paraffin wax it takes another 5-10 min. Worth it! My nail tech was Summer. She was great, very detailed and made sure the color and style was done to my preference. I love that they offer refreshments (I skipped the mimosa but the flavored sparkling water was super refreshing) and that all of their polishes are free of toxins. I missed the typical massage chairs, but honestly didn't mind because my leg/foot massage was AMAZING. Kimberly did a fantastic deep tissue massage before my pedicure. She constantly checked in throughout the process (ensuring my nails were the right length, the cuticle buffing wasn't too hard, etc.) and offered friendly conversation. Such a great place to get a pedicure. When you arrive, they offer you a champagne or mimosa for free... and it has sparkles in it!! The ambience is great. Great people, Good conversation and decent music playing. They have boutique clothes for purchase and a decent selection of color. They do not have massage chairs but they do have raised soft sofa chairs to sit in. I was a little disappointed that the dirt/polish was not removed from the corners of my big toes, other than that it was a nice experience. They do a great job for the most part on pedicures. Ok. So I'm an acrylics girl. Always have gotten acrylics. Went on a limb to spend the money and try out gel-x which I was so excited about. Went into Paint to soak off my acrylics and got a beautiful first set of gel-x nails. Although pricey, I was overall happy. With chrome and tip it was around $130. Fast forward 2.5 weeks, my thumb nail completely popped off and about 5 other nails were lifting and hanging by a limb. Came back into the shop and the manager mentioned that since I was outside of the 10 day window, they can't take care of me. Even though I needed to soak off my brand new $130 set of brand new gel-x and get another set. After an hour of soaking off the nails, I went with the shorter set this time in hopes it would help with lifting. I wanted to do a pretty ombré French and the girl who was doing my nails couldn't figure out how to do it. At this point I've now been there 2.5 hours. Upset, I literally just said I'll keep the base coat of the "ombré French" I didn't get and be on my way. Hating my nails, I just wanted to get out of there. The manager gave me $15 off my 2nd set totaling me out to $85 this time. Which again, is absurd. Now looking at this second set- you tell me if these look like nails worth $85? The worst, lumpiest, ugliest nails I've ever had. And to top it off- a week later, a nail is already lifting. I'll be soaking these off and going back to acrylics. I initially left a great review. Unfortunately when I returned for a fill I did not have a great experience. They recommended a matte finish and their matte polish kept creating wrinkles on the nails. It took 2.5 HOURS and I left with nails so bad I'm embarrassed to show my hands. The lengths are uneven, shape is different on each finger, there are ripples in the texture, and even the thickness is different from one finger to the next. I was asked if they were "livable" before being rushed out the door. Don't want to pay $60 for a FILL that's "livable". Will post pics if possible. Definitely disappointing. read more

I've stopped in a handful of nail salons since moving to Florida, and this spot is one of the better ones I've been to in the St. Pete area. Albeit, their prices are a little steep, that's the only downside. But they take great care of you when you stop in, and they're really thorough with their work. Their pedicure chairs are really comfortable and the entire salon is super relaxing. The staff is very nice and they genuinely want to interact with you when you're there. I haven't been there since well before Covid, but I'll be stopping in soon and I have confidence they'll be taking the proper safety measures for their customers! read more

Tried this salon for the first time because I couldn't get into my normal one last minute. It's a clean, aesthetically pleasing salon and the staff were all very nice. I'm giving it a 3 stars because 1.) the prices were high for basic nail services. I received a "Lickity Split" gel manicure (so no cuticle cut or massage) and a regular pedicure which was $84. Not including tip.. 2.) the tech I had did not do the full service of the pedicure. She skipped the massage and warm towel in the legs (I am a mom to a toddler and currently 31 weeks pregnant so you could imagine my disappointment when I did not receive that 10 min of a massage). She tried to do gel on my toes and when I corrected her and told her I wanted regular polish, that must have thrown her off her routine, But I thought maybe she would circle back and do the massage and never did. For almost $50 for a regular pedicure... not worth it. 3.) my gel nails chipped within 3 days. I went to a wedding which is why I got my nails done, and had a chipped nail for the wedding. Wanted to love this place but was extremely disappointed. I saw photos online and was so excited for my appointment! I saw many pics of cute designs and figured I'd come in and just get a regular gel manicure to test it out; but what I received was the absolute worst gel manicure of my life! To start, when I walked in for my appointment and confirmed that I currently had in acrylics the receptionist and my nail tech gave me the strangest looks. I now know that this is because they don't use a drill for removal but at $30 for a removal, I could do without the shocked looks. Things seemed to start off okay; but I started to get nervous when the tech kept asking me if my nails looked fine for painting. I thought this was extremely weird considering she's the professional; but figured she was maybe just trying to be nice. She then moved on to paint my nails and the color was incredibly uneven. I got a light color which can be tricky; but ultimately had to ask her to fill areas in where you could clearly see my natural nail color showing through the light blue. I now wish I hadn't said anything because her "corrections" left my nails bumpy and uneven (although all the other nails were bumpy too so I suppose it doesn't make a difference). I planned to suffer through this manicure for at least a week and a half; but she also didn't paint to the tip and/or cuticle edge on several nails so I probably won't even make it a week before needing to go somewhere for a full new manicure. My nails were also extremely thick for a gel manicure - this could just be there polish, but my bet is that it's because she didn't remove all of the acrylic. I ended up just paying and leaving because I'd already been there so long and could tell she was antsy for her next appointment; but safe to say I cancelled the pedicure appointment I'd made for Tuesday and will not recommend and/or return. If I had to say anything positive, the salon at least seemed clean and was very quiet with only a few guests; but other than that I'd avoid at all costs! Also the site says that they offer a complimentary beverage; but I watched every customer around me get offered a water, while I was offered nothing. read more

Highly recommend this nail place! I've been here twice before and the front desk staff and all the manicure staff are so nice and welcoming. I love how you can book your appointments online and that they offer you a free mimosa or espresso upon entrance. They have a great selection of colors and all the nail products are pretty clean, which is nice compared to the average salon. This place is also extremely clean, and all the staff are properly spread out and using sufficient sanitary measures. My first time here I got gel extensions and Hannah did a wonderful job. But the services for pedicure and facial are horrible and way over priced! $70 for a pedicure that was so basic and not relaxing at all as it usually is at my place back home, and for half the price!!! I stopped in while walking by downtown to ask Paint for pricing to get my nails redone (spoke to Kris, The manager, in person). . . She convinced me to transition to their more natural gel product from dip (which I have used for a number of years). I asked what the cost would be? Kris said $10 for removal of my current dip, and $44 for their new gel. So I reiterated, "therefore you're telling me the total will be $54? " She said yes, $54. I reiterated for confirmation again, asking if $54 would be the total to have my dip removed and the new gel put on with the product she is recommending, and she again said yes, and said I will make a note for your appointment tomorrow that we will give you the free top coat something or other, so yes, your total will be $54 and that's it. I went in today, had my dip removed, the new gel product they recommended put on my nails. It definitely took longer than expected! Over 1.5 hours. When I went to check out at the counter, they said that will be $89. I'm like Huh?? I explained that I spoke to Kris yesterday in person and she assured me it was $54 total, and that she was going to comp the topcoat shine thing or whatever it is... So that it should be $54 based on the detailed conversation I had with Kris the day before. The lady checking me out agreed to come down to $69 and that's it. I paid the $69, because I could see there was no sense arguing with them. I am very disappointed, as I feel this is extremely unethical. If a business tells someone X amount is the cost, and they confirm and reconfirm with you and assure you that's the cost right to your face, that should be what it is. I am a business owner also, and I would never do this to my customers. It's just downright wrong and sneaky. The salon itself was nice. My nails look good, but we will see how they hold up compared to my past products. Just overall super disappointed about the experience. Update, May 2022: The manager, Kris, contacted me after she saw the review. She apologized up-and-down. She said she had no idea what occurred and that the price she quoted me was not honored. She asked me to come in to pick up the refund/difference, which I did the next day and she refunded me the difference between what I had paid and what she had quoted me the day prior. I appreciate her reaching out and her integrity and taking care of this. However, I feel it should've never happened this way in the first place. I was literally ready to walk out of my apartment headed to my appointment when I received notice from the salon that they could not honor my time slot. Note that this was a rescheduled appointment because one their techs had a "viral infection". I've been a loyal customer of this salon for years. But for a long time now when I make an appointment I don't get the tech I request and/or they need to change the time. All the people I've referred have had similar if not worse experiences. They've moved on and it's time that I do the same. I wish that scheduling was my only issue. Services have been inconsistent and often left me in pain or hiding the embarrassing results of poor quality when out in public. I hope this salon gets it together. I can't imagine that it can survive on naive tourists without a regular customer base. read more
