What a style! You gotta check out this boutique located inside Kahala Mall. It was a pleasant experience shopping in here. This young woman/owner (I forgot her name) is so knowledgeable and very informative and did helped me pick some color and attire to purchase. She did help me decide the style to pick which I find it really outstanding. Now here's a clothing store that sells clothing styles fresh from New York that are not only Women-Sized but also Comfy and Chic! That's So Cool :) Prices are a bit higher but there's a lot to appreciate here not just in style but also in comfort and fit too. After dinner with Fran C. at The Counter near Whole Foods across Chilis outside Kahala Mall, we needed to walk through the mall to get to the car. We passed by my fav large kiosk higher fashion trend jewelry store Riches to take a look before proceeding to walk past this store. I've always liked the look of this store and have passed by thinking the displays and the dresses are nice but I always put off going inside. Today, however, one of their dresses caught my eye. I liked the dark grey color, it had a shirred front, was long, elegant yet a bit casual, and the arm holes didn't make it look like it would fit a super tall girl (yep, I'm petite). It was adorned with necklaces that were long, light, and dainty. It really is a beautiful store. There's a quaint English-New England cobblestone feel about the outside. I walked inside and looked around. It took me 20 seconds to realize I wouldn't know where to find that grey dress. There was a salesperson at the cash register. She lightly observed me until I approached her about the dress in the window. I asked if she had more. She said yes and took me straight to it. She had two sizes left in addition to the one on the mannequin. I'd never been there before so I took the chest part of the garment and put it across my chest. It fit which meant that it would fit. "Are you sure?" the girl asked. I was sure. (Are you like that too?) She led me to the back of the store. It was an off-white curtained-off dressing room the entire length of the wall. Très chic! I tried the larger one on. It fit. The arm holes were perfect. I walked outside and asked the girl for help. She said it looked nice and it was a good fit. I asked if she could check the other one (on me) after I'd put it on and she said: sure! :D I put the smaller one on and it really did fit! I wasn't sure so I went outside to confer. The salesperson said the smaller size fit better and it gave me more shape. Okay, I'm sold. I love the outfit, color, fit, and I see it as a lasting trend :) I went to get Fran C.'s opinion where he sat at the sofa at the front of the store just a few steps away. He said he thought it fit well and looked nice. The girl said they purchase clothing from different locations in New York (Isn't that cool?!) so idk if the sizing is always the same but I'm posting that in case you want to know what body type this store fits: I fit and got the medium. Sizing is women's. I'm 5'2", thirty two dd, pretty full figured also in hips, and the long dress hugged my curves and was the perfect length, just above my ankles. I enjoyed that I was able to get in and out of the store quite quickly. Check out was quick too. All in all it took me about 15-20 minutes to try on and pay for my purchase. The salesgirl and I even got to talking a bit about garment fit when I first approached her. I appreciated her help. There were many other things there that ran from elegant to casual. I will definitely go back for another visit. I am hoping this will become one of my new favorite stores! I love my new dress and the reusable butterfly tote it came in wrapped in chocolate brown tissue paper sealed with a pretty blue butterfly sticker. I love this boutique!! Boho inspired with brands like Tolani and Johnny Was. Clothing sizes varies from the very small (xsm) to slightly bigger (xl). Love the uniqueness of the clothing and something you won't find in every other boutique on island. Tons of printed rompers, long and short dressing, sleeveless and dolman - you name it they probably have it! The vibe here is super cool and straight up comfy!! The staff of two girls were so friendly, even offering drinks while we shopped. They made their presence known and availed their assistance without being "stalky." I'm told the boutique is locally owned with products coming from New York on a weekly basis. Absolutely beautiful shop!! It's a hybrid of Anthropologie and Cinammon Girl! Prices are slightly higher than the local boutiques but I didn't find that as a deterrent considering you won't find this type of clothing elsewhere on island unless you shop online for those brands. read more

Amazing, amazing, amazing customer service! My sister and I came here to purchase some Christmas gifts for our cousins who were visiting from California, and let me tell you, their customer service is ON POINT! I want to say her name is Anela.... I hope that's her name... but she patiently helped us out with picking out candles for our cousin's. Let me tell you, this girl ran around the entire store and brought us every single candle hidden around the boutique for us to smell and look at. TONS of candles. She was patient, wasn't pushy, and was just so lovely to chat to and work with. We ended up purchasing a few candles which she meticulously wrapped in tissue paper and adorned with their signature butterfly sticker. I enjoyed my other visit a month ago but this time I had a salesperson that was luke warm. Asked about the Christmas sale during the upcoming week but she was not interested in finding out about me saving any money, just that she didnt know about it and that they don't put anything on hold for a sale the next day in her matter of fact tone. If buying a gift from this store be advised that their gift exchange policy is terrible! I received a very expensive garment for Christmas and needed to exchange size of exact same item. Sales associate told me I only have 15days to exchange from date of purchase. I told her it was a Christmas gift purchased before Christmas and she said well we provide our exchange policy at time of purchase. I called my husband to ask date of purchase 12/16 and sales person said well that's longer than our 15day exchange policy, so sorry but you can't exchange or return it, sad thing is I "use" to love shopping there (which is why my husband shopped there) but NO more. Needed a dress for dinner and noticed this place had opened up. Very cute boutique. VERY nice, friendly, and helpful girl named Raelynn (SP?) assisted me in finding a dress (or two!) It is a boutique, so you will be paying higher prices (+ship to Hawaii inflation)--but in comparison to other boutiques I've been to, the material/quality/brand is up to par (i.e. Heather and James & Joy collection.) Although, I did not find what I was looking for, I will be back at a later date to purchase some gifts for a few summer birthdays coming up. I stopped in to 33 Butterflies on my way to a dental apointment at Kahala mall and purchased a Johnny Was dress and blouse for $475..When the cashier handed me the items they were wrapped separately with 1 piece of tissue paper without a bag. When I requested a bag the cashier told me they were out of bags and had been for some time. I told her I really needed a bag as I had a dental appointment and planned to get lunch afterwards and really didn't want to have to carry these purchases in my hands all afternoon especially the white blouse. I was concerned it would be easy to drop them they would get dirty. The cashier just glared at me. Fortunately her coworker kindly offered to check with another store for a bag. She returned with a small paper bag and the 2 items were wadded up into that bag. Had their return policy offered a refund vs exchange I would have immediately returned both items. I understand bags cost 15 cents and don't mind paying that but when I spend $475 I expect to be offered a bag (for 15 cents) and have the items are handled with care. I was never thanked for my purchase only given a dirty look by the rude cashier. I will never shop at this store again. I will instead visit the Johnny Was store at Ala Moana where they are always friendly and appreciate my business. read more

Ok I will. By accident, I found 33 Butterflies during Kahala Mall's 25% Family Weekend (12.16.12). AND THANK GOODNESS I DID. (BTW they opened two weeks prior to my review, so congrats to them!) Shopping here reminds me of shopping in LA - which I miss a ton. As soon as you walk in, it's like you have journeyed to a new place - shopping heaven!! There is so much take in, I feel like every time you go there, you might see something new to appreciate. The intricate touches are so perfect! The price points are on the affordable and on the high end, whatever you can afford. The selection of items is kind of mixed by colors so you will find more expensive stuff among the more affordable stuff. I think that's strategic and pleasing to the eye, but you can decide (like me) when you see triple digits to put it right back. On my first visit, the girls who work there were all super sweet (except maybe for one girl who looked like she was in charge who just stood behind the register and ignored everyone/was on the phone). They are not pushy (like many other boutique retailers these days) and they let you shop, but with just the right amount of assistance. As a retail associate/manager for years, you know when you are getting good service and that's exactly what you'll find at 33 Butterflies. I was very pleased with their selection and found so many things to try on. With it being the holidays, you would think they might have only big sizes left, but they had a whole array of every size. Also, they sell apparel that fits their boutique motif...very stylish, yet modern, sassy, and cute. I think women of all ages can shop here because there is such a variety of choices. (Listen up, boys, if you're looking for something for your mom, sis, wife, gf, or even just a friend - this is the place to go!) Their dressing rooms are spacious and lined with cute curtains. There's lots of room for your friends to share their opinions, too. And, of course, not too pushy assistance to help you through making your decisions, decisions! (And for the boys, there's a nice couch in the store so you can wait nice and patient so not to rush your women.) I've been here a couple times since they've opened and purchased items from this boutique, which by the way, i love. The staff has always been really nice and very helpful and friendly. During my most recent visit, the gal who helped me was kind enough to go through the whole store picking out things she thought might be in my price range and style. She let me shop without being overbearring, and she left me items in my room to try on. I actually loved everything she picked out, but ended up just buying my most favorite. I'll be back for sure for other items! But a little description of the shop... Their ambience is kinda cozy and earthy. A lot of their clothing is also done in basic, neutrals, and earthier tones. Very nice dresses and tops. They also sell a line of casual wear t-shirts and tanks with pretty art work on them. Lots of comfortable and beautiful items and the price ranges are great. What a super cute store! I frequent Kahala Mall alot. They got a prime spot located at the center of the mall where Kahala Kids used to be. The store is really invited. There's quite a lot of merchandise mix in there and everything is very visually appealing. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the designing and decorating. The clothing appeals to a variety of ages, I'd say for the mature 20 year old and up. Very classy... and outfits can be used for work, fun and special occasions. Prices range from moderate to high. The first day I went in which was the day after opening, there was a nice young lady who was very sweet. Yesterday when I went in, there were 3 associates all congregating at the cash register chit chatting. There were maybe about 4 customers in the store. No one was greeted. I was in there for a good few minutes until I walked near the register and was finally greeted. Coming from a strong retail background, I was always taught, your customers should be greeting upon entering and no employee should be standing around the register area, especially talking story. I stop here every time I come to kahala mall. It's a beautiful store. The staff is nice but not pushy. They offer a cup of tea while you are looking around. Last time, they sold out of a perfume I wanted to buy. They took my number and called me as soon as it came in. The new items are kind of pricy, but the sale rack on the back has great stuff at good prices. I bought gift cards here many times for my friends. I love the fact they put the gift card in a tiny cloth bag. If you have time to check out one store in kahala mall, this should be the one. read more

33 Butterflies at Kahala Mall is the place to go if you want something different from the usual boutiques. The clothing at this place is absolutely worth it for the money you pay. Most of the clothing is boho-chic and comfy. You are definitely greeted by the girls working there who are nice enough to suggest items and definitely know their product so if you ever get stuck they are there to help. They have a comfy seating area for the men while the women shop and it's appealing for the guys since lying on the coffee tables are magazines for men which my husband thought was pretty neat and a thumbs up. One of the best boutiques that I've known and am trying to spread since their boutique is through word of mouth. read more

What a delightful day I had here!! I went to lunch with the hubby at Arby's and this random lunch turned into a shopping spree. We stopped in to this beautiful store and the clothes and jewelry are just stunning! The nice thing about this store is that there are only a few shirts, dresses or tops in any given design so you can be assured you're wearing something nobody else is wearing.
