This boutique is so charming and has beautiful island-style clothing and accessories. The challenge for me is the same everywhere I go. I struggle to find inclusive places where plus-size options are truly part of the selection. Most of the time, the options are limited or tucked away in a corner. Unfortunately, that was the case here, which left me browsing only the accessories and cutting my shopping trip short. I'd love to come back again when plus-size options are more embraced.

I love coming to this location. The girls here are ALWAYS so friendly and the AWESOME customer service is consistent with all of the employees. You can tell that they are happy to be at work and love it. The store isn't very big but a decent size which holds a lot of their merchandise. The sizes go quickly especially after new items come out, so keep in mind that if you need a certain size, you should go in or order on-line right away. The merchandise are boutique prices which is understandable. I love that the quality of the material and fabrics they use are good and worth the money. Great location, awesome service, and great merchandise with cute prints and styles. I will definitely return to this location.

We came just in time to celebrate Chinese new year and it was also our year, Year of the Snake! 新年快乐! This was a gift with purchase!

First Time, But Definitely Not the Last! I had my very first visit here, and what a memorable one it was! I flew all the way to Alaska to surprise my friend's sister for her 30th birthday celebration at Veranda at the Beachhouse--an elegant afternoon tea with a Muʻumuʻu and aloha attire theme. Naturally, my friend wanted to find the perfect muʻumuʻu to wear, both for the event and beyond. At first, we planned to check out Ala Moana for Hilo Hattie's, but after some quick online searching, she discovered Fighting Eel--a name that instantly rang a bell for me! I told her that my co-workers raved about this place, and that was all the convincing we needed. Before my friend flew back home, she called Fighting Eel to check if they had a specific muʻumuʻu in stock--and they did! They also confirmed they had dressing rooms, so we were all set for a shopping trip. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sweetest associate who truly went above and beyond. She made sure everything fit just right, even bringing out another muʻumuʻu for my friend to try--which ended up being an even better fit! Talk about great instincts! To top it all off, she steamed the muʻumuʻu before we left, making it perfectly ready to wear. Such a thoughtful touch! As we were checking out, the associate (I wish I remembered her name--she was wonderful!) mentioned a special Chinese New Year gift with purchase. It was the cutest necklace tucked inside a festive lai see--such a fun surprise! But the real shocker? As my friend and I were chatting with her, we realized we all shared the Year of the Snake--same birth year and everything! What are the odds?! It was such a fun and unexpected moment that made our shopping experience even more memorable. Thoughtful service, a perfect muʻumuʻu, and a surprise connection--Fighting Eel knows how to make customers feel special!

If you would have asked me about fighting eel 10 years ago, I would have been excited to tell you all about how much I loved the styles and prints. Now that I'm getting close to my mid thirties, the short dress styles are a little too short for me to wear to work and I'm not as excited about the prints as I was before. Maybe I'm just getting old. I saw on IG that this kapolei location opened and even though I found myself in the area a few times with one of my friends who used to shop pretty exclusively at FE, we both opted to walk around target instead of going to FE. Today I went in looking for something specific I saw at the Kailua location. They didn't have the item I was looking for and I didn't have time to ask about it at other locations because I know they only hold items for like a day. Speaking of policies, they used to have a stamp card system a long time ago. Then they went to a computerized points system. Now they're back to the stamps. I wonder if they'll accept stamps from 10 years ago lol. The loyalty program isn't very exciting anyway..., you have to spend hundreds (maybe $1000) of dollars here before you can get $10 off. I never was able to use any points when they had the computerized system. It seems like Fighting Eel is trying new things with lunchboxes, beach chairs and stationary. It's cute, but so pricey.

Sally has quite the impressive selection of specific products ranging for items from head to toes the fun yet quality items of hair colors has really gotten my curiosity to go outside of my usual box as the staff here are really knowledgeable. Shop is very neat and organized which makes shopping super easy and fun and as I went in look for a nail file was blown to see the variety choice I have since I'm always in need of reshaping my nails a buffer was something I was looking for, located in Kapolei Commons making parking very easy and that's something beautiful! As we were making our way everything seemed fine got asked about two times by I believe the manager lady she was a lil shorter lady. We said we were good both times didn't bother us. Then as we became the only two customers in the SMALL three aisle store the cashier up front (Heavy set person of color, I believe she had glasses and a side pony) decided to swiffer mop right in the aisle that my friend was looking at product in. She then gave a wicked face as I started walking up the aisle in the spot that she just mopped . I said sorry n stayed friendly but just thought it was weird how she decided to mop right where we were.so as me and my friend are chatting about the hair colors n things she stops literally right beside my friend n just stands there listening to us before she interrupts to give some advice. We thank her n tell her we had knew what she was talking about. Idk if that made her mad but she then just proceeds to stand there swiffer in hand about shoulder to shoulder from my friend as we keep chatting n it just feels beyond awkward. Like literally just stands there right next to us still just listening to our conversation and frankly invading our personal space. I've worked in retail for almost 5 years and ik the protocol for watching customers and profiling them and we were friendly never rude we said we didn't need help and usually we go on and do other things but watch from afar but this was way to creepy and really infuriating. As soon as my friend made a comment about wanting to put everything back and leave she finally moves behind us up to the front of the aisle and then just STANDS there swiffer STILL in hand( she didn't even mop the other aisles mind you!!!) n she just waits...staring at us straight up! Like if I wasn't trying to be a good person and a returning customer I would have went off and sounded very rude but I was there with my friend for her to grab her items. We finally just rush to grab anything n she leads us to the register. We check out and leave with the most gross taste in our mouths trying to just understand why she was like that but woah I had to come on here and let whoever reads this to be aware. And maybe speak up for us next time! I really hope she reads this and gets either put in the back with stock or signed up with better quality service cuz sis you need help. Mahalo

The inside is as chaotic and busy as a donki in Japan, although this location (because this is the only location I've been to in Hawaii) seems to be merged with Safeway a bit with the items it held so it's almost double the overwhelming yet still fun to browse and walkthrough. It's bright, it's massive, and I'm sure you can play a mean game of tag inside, but don't. While there was a ton of items that almost swayed me, I only opted for a couple bags of cookies and a little hot wheel for my husband.

The layout of the store is pretty strange, with the entrance on one side, and the exit at the other end of the store by the food court. It forces you to either park near the entrance or exit (or in the middle), and either way, it's gonna be a long walk. We parked near the entrance and went in and found the food court at the other side of the store. The store is fairly large, and offers a huge selection of Japanese foods, snacks, and other specialty products. It was surprisingly empty for a Friday afternoon, but at least we didn't have to wait very long. They have a large counter for sit down dining, along with tables in the middle of the court. The skewers were a petty good size, but the meat wasn't as tender as I had expected. It was a bit stringy, and chewy, but the taste was good. They also provided a Teriyaki style dipping sauce, which had a good flavor. I like that it included both a green salad, and mac salad, and the bed of rice under the skewers were also topped with furikake. For some reason, although it was a take out order, they forgot to include any utensils for the eating salad and rice. The exit is located right by the dining area, so the walk back to the car is quite a distance. I understand that having only one exit reduces the chances of theft, but it's still pretty inconvenient for their "primary" customers, who are probably an older demographic. Maybe that's why they're not as busy as when they first opened?
