GARLIC OVERDOSE…read more.. Paid $16.00 for entry into the event in the Old School Square off Atlantic Ave. Security was extremely tight for this type of venue but was welcomed. Noticed a few staffers dressed up as garlic, which set the tone for the day. The scent of fresh garlic blasted through my nasal cavity upon entering the field. Immediately saw several foodie booths and had to browse for the best sounding dish. The Garlic Candied Bacon Kabob and the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl with Garlic sauce were both fantastic but pricey at $20.00 each. Walked around with our treats browsing the artsy and "Cottage Food" booths while chatting with the vendors. A live eight piece band was playing popular rock n' roll tunes. There were a few Beef Jerky booths which provided samples of tasty beef like alligator, garlic and sweet & spicy. They offered a full liquor bar under a tent and the wife had Titos with lime then we went to a vintage airstream trailer that advertised Espresso and Cigars. We walked into the aluminum trailer and sat on the comfy couches and had Espresso for $5.00 and met the owners. The event had a decent amount of vendors and thankfully it not rain but $16.00 for entry before any money is spent on food and tchotchkes could easily burn a hole in your wallet to over the $75.00 threshold for a mere hour. Also, many vendors do not take cash. I will say that parking in the open lot was only $2.00 per hour which was appreciated. Fun time but not something I would do again so will wait for another theme event.

So tickets were available for either an afternoon or an evening "session" and we opted for the evening, to enjoy a date night but ended up heading home early. It had rained earlier in the day and judging by the closed up tents, apparently more than half the vendors left and never bothered coming back. That wouldn't have been a big deal really, because most of the vendors we saw (open or closed) were the same mass produced products that seem to dominate every open air market in Delray. The garlic themed food vendors were okay, but pretty much everything was catered big batch food products and most were outrageously overpriced. $23 for a burger and fries? Gimme a break... Service was friendly and police presence substantial, but there's a lot better things you can spend your money on...

The vibrant sculpture on the corner of Ocean Blvd and US-1 is in front of 500 Ocean. It is a…read moretowering 40-foot installation by metal artist Albert Paley. Commissioned for the development and installed in 2017, it remains the tallest public artwork in Palm Beach County. Paley describes Cavalcade as a dramatic silhouette meant to engage the sky and sunlight. The sculpture's spire-like forms, painted in vibrant yellows, are inspired by palm fronds, which he sees as delicate floral elements reaching skyward. Though the piece is not kinetic, its folded, interlaced metal shapes suggest motion as if stirred by ocean air. Paley emphasizes how the sculpture changes throughout the day, with shifting light and shadow enhancing its dynamism and creating a sense of constant transformation. When I first saw it, I was struck by how it seemed to rise out of the pavement like a burst of energy--part botanical, part industrial, and entirely alive. More than marking the corner, it claims it. The sculpture feels like welcome sign for the neighborhood that blends ambition with artistry. While fully metal and status, it channels the softness of nature. Cavalcade is a 40 foot high public art installation by artist Albert Paley. It was created…read morespecifically for Boynton Beach and installed in 2017. The artist based the design on his interpretation of palm fronds. He also designed it to have folding metal to look like it had movement even though it is stationary. Albert Paley's work can be found in the permanent collections of over 30 museums, nationally and internationally, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Toledo Museum of Art, and in London in the Victoria and Albert Museum and The British Museum. About his work Paley has said "In creating a work of art, besides my personal experience, my concern is how it emotionally and intellectually engages the viewer. Through the creative process I have developed a personal visual vocabulary fundamentally based in symbolism and metaphor which is implicit in my work." I love the whimsical shapes and how colorful it is. When you look at it at a certain angle it reminds me a little bit of Edward Scissor Hands. It's large size and bright colors really make it stand out as you drive by.

I was very excited for this exhibit but found myself a bit underwhelmed at times. There were…read moresignificantly less artifacts than other exhibits I've been to, but I did enjoy all the displays and interactive components. However, several of the didactic panels (the posted wall text) had spelling errors - which is incredibly unprofessional. Misspelling Captain Smith's name was not only disrespectful but a bit dumbfounding as that's the simplest last name to spell. For such a large exhibit from a well known production as Fever, I'd expect proper editing - but this is now the third event of theirs that has had this issue. I also found the AI generated images unnecessary and vastly disappointing. I'd also suggest supplying more employees/security as I've seen at other events as there were many people touching things clearly labeled not to be touched. This is how things get broken and/or ruined for other visitors. What we did enjoy: the passenger cards handed out to every patron, the simulations for the Bridge and lifeboat room, the amount of information provided via wall text and audio, the dedication to passengers and crew at the end, and the gift shop had a nice selection.

Anyone who knows me knows I love history. But the best part of Titanic: An Immersive Voyage wasn't…read morethe VR or the artifacts... it was the boarding pass. At the entrance, you're assigned the identity of a real passenger and follow their story throughout the experience. Mine was Mariyam Asaaf Khalil, a 45-year-old Syrian woman returning to Toronto after visiting her sons. Along the way, you explore authentic photographs and artifacts, see props from the film, learn how the ship was built, take a virtual submarine dive to the wreck site, and sit in a lifeboat as the final hours unfold around you. We spent an embarrassing amount of time creating AI portraits of ourselves as Titanic passengers... and it was worth every minute. Fun time, but I couldn't shake the melancholy. No matter how familiar the story is, it still hits hard: the lives lost, the class divide, the passengers who never had a fair chance, and the painful reality that so many more people could have been saved. At the very end of the experience, you walk past a memorial wall where you look up your passenger's name to learn their fate. Marianna survived

The Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center is an anchor in the new Boynton Beach Town Square. It is…read morelocated in the historic 1927 building that used to be the Boynton Beach High School. The two story building has been refurbished and now has a 39 foot high domed ceiling exhibit hall, exhibition space, and teaching studios. The Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center hosts dance classes, technical drawing classes for adults, art exhibits, private events, workshops, and classes. Outside the building is public art and two playgrounds. The Culture and Arts Center is a place for the community to gather and express themselves creatively and learn new skills. A full schedule of classes and events is in every Funfare Magazine, printed 3 times a year. This weekend the Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center is hosting the free 6th Annual Kinetic Biennial. The event has indoor and outdoor kinetic art experiences, installations, and displays from both local and international artists along with food trucks, live entertainment, and artist talks. It is the perfect time to enjoy some exciting artwork and to learn more about all the great things the Boynton Beach Culture and Arts Center is putting together for 2023.

REcycled REef is a public art piece installed in 2022 near the entrance of South Beach Park in Boca…read moreRaton. It is part of the Art in Public Places Program. This art work was created out of the inspiration to come up with creative ways to repurpose, recycle, and conserve. REcycled REef is the vision of local artist Gregory Dirr who often uses nature as a theme in his artwork. Dirr received his BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design. During his art career he has been involved in exhibitions, curating, public sculptures, murals, woodworking, metalworking, masonry, art direction, installation, photography, video, music, fine jewelry making, printmaking, textiles, set design, and prop making. Dirr created the pink and blue hued reef out of discarded materials found in the ocean, canals, and waterways of Boca Raton. The core structure of the reef was created with recycled metal rebar, wire mesh, and concrete. Discarded plastics were attached with concrete mortar to the outside. Gregory personally collected all the plastic used in the project. The plastic was then treated, primed, and painted with UV coating. I love the message of REcycled REef which was designed to educate the community about the harmful effects of pollution and plastics on marine life while inspiring sustainable actions through an eye catching artistic creation. This piece is located near where sea turtles nest, driving home its critical message even further. Help our ecology by reducing, reusing, and recycling!
