Their customer service upfront is great. I called and got in right away... But I honestly just had the worst haircut of my life there today. I was busy finishing up work texts and in thirty seconds she chopped off the hair I've been growing for months when I said to keep the length and just cut the sides with no guard. I really needed a good haircut before I headed to a wedding over the weekend so I gave them a call to see if they could fit me in. Setting up the appointment was super easy and they were able to get me in the same day. The waiting area is nice and welcoming. I was quickly greeted and taken back. Working with the stylist was easy, we talked through what I was looking for, I showed her a couple pictures and we talked about how some the styles would actually work with my hair. The cut was really great and all the little touches really helped make this a great cut. The hot towel, the straight razor clean up of my neck line into the fade. This place is great! Came in after work with an appointment at 630. The stylist was at the front waiting and I was as seated right away. Elise was awesome! Very good to talk to and taught me a lot about my hair. It's nice to have someone geek out over your hair and tell you how to do it better or tell/show you how it will look and feel better. Used a straight razor for the neck and gave a nice hot face towel for when she was washing it and massaging my scalp...felt amazing! I was a walk-in and luckily there had been a cancellation - so meant a 20 min wait. They have adult beverages available, so 20 mins went quickly. Very positive atmosphere in the entire place. My appointment was with Bonnie. Super fun, 30 years' experience, easily envisioned what I wanted. Results were superb! The whole experience includes the haircut, razor shave around the edges, hot towel on your face while getting a post hair wash, and finishing dry/style. The place doesnt have an "our team" page on their website so it is hard to research. Some pplare way better than others. My barber didn't introduce herself. Not a great experience overall but they have a steady stream of patrons so it could be just a one-off end-of-day thing. I had been growing my hair out for a few months in order to change my look. I'd had the same haircut for over 15 years, since junior high, decided to make a change and after several terrible experiences in the past with other barbers I was recommended to try this place. I can't say enough great things about my experience here, I called ahead and they got me right in! I did my best to explain what I wanted and let me tell you she nailed it! I think her name was Kristin(sp?) and she took my stumbling poorly worded explanation of what I was looking for and gave me exactly what I wanted! My new go to barber shop! Shop was clean and everyone was very friendly! It is a bit pricey but I would rather pay a few bucks more for perfection than the disasters I'd received at some cheaper shops. If you're going to have the word "barber" in your name and try to chase after the male market, whether you want to or not, you should know some of the key elements that make a barber a BARBER. I understand this place is a salon trying to cater to a higher end clientele. But basics are basics. I expect any Italian joint to know how to make a basic marinara. I expect a salon calling themselves high end barbers to know some basic barber style shit. If you cannot give a simple beard trim, don't try. I won't hassle you for not knowing. I can't hit a curve ball. I can't speak mandarin. Some skill sets are beyond some people. It's okay. I went in with a beautiful full beard that I just wanted to take down a bit and edge up. I wanted a more professional look to my beard. I walked out with the goatee. Why? Because my "stylist" ( I refuse to use the word barber to describe ANYONE in this place) does not know where the jaw line is or what a thick chin strap looks like. I still have to go home and edge myself up. I didn't trust her to get it right after what she did. She did take the "beard trim" off the bill and that's why they got 1 damn star. Won't be back. Hate myself for not walking out as soon as I got there or as soon as I realized my beard was in mortal danger. Sad day. RIP February beard. You will be missed dreadfully. read more

It's a family owned barber shop, which looks very upscale in the interior and they offer you a soda/coffee/water while you wait. They have a comfy leather couch for you to wait, especially since they took about 45 minutes to transform my beau's hair like the metro male models in the men's interest magazines scattered on the coffee table. I even took a peek in them to see what kinds of things men look at out of sheer curiosity. Hey, there wasn't a cosmo or a women's magazine for me... This place is definitely girl friend approved if you want your man to look sexy. I was referred to 4:59 Barber by a friend of mine after asking him about a good place to get a haircut in Indianapolis. He instantly referred me to 4:59 and I waited about a week before I decided to go. Fast forward and I am sitting in the parking lot outside of a "chain hairstyle outlet" actually debating about getting my haircut there. My aunt was a hairstylist and my former Sgt. Is a police officer/barber, so I have always had people close to me cutting and styling my hair and I take it very serious. I then decided to call 4:59 and I spoke with Mike who instantly won me over by the honesty in his voice. I asked if I needed an appointment and he said at that time of day usually, but they could work me in. When I arrived I was instantly greeted by smiles and handshakes from one of the friendliest staffs I have ever interacted with in any style/fashion institute. The lobby was clean, stylish, and very inviting. I was then introduced to Ellie, my stylist for the day. I told Ellie what I basically wanted and told her to do her own thing with what she thought she could. Ellie was excellent in the fact that she held an entire conversation, seemed to really enjoy her job, spoke highly of her management, and was an excellent stylist on top of everything. I received a haircut, shampoo, hot towel, and neck shave for around $24. As I left, I spoke with Mindy who was also excellent and fun to talk to, all while working with the stylists and customers in a professional, yet friendly manner. I cannot rave enough about 4:59 Barber and they definitely have my business from here on out. I spent a year and a half living in Chicago, and while I was there I got my hair cut at a place called Gabby's. Gabby's was a local institution. You'd go in, write your name on a chalk board, and someone would be with you soon. You'd get a haircut, talk some shop, and at the end the barber would shave the back of your neck with a straight razor. It was the quintessential barber experience. Having said that, 4:59 Barber Lounge is like Gabby's for the 21st century. Instead of a chalk board, you call and schedule an appointment. Your haircut begins with the owner asking you if you'd like a drink (soda, tea, water, coffee, etc.). You sit down with your stylist, who knows you by name, and can either watch one of the many TVs positioned around the store or make small talk. Trust me, you'll want to make small talk. After a quick setup trim, you sit down for a shampoo, which is just such a fantastic experience, followed by the haircut. After you're done with the haircut, there's another shampoo, followed by a neck shave. 4:59 is expensive. But it is just so magnificent an experience that after coming here once, you'll never be able to go back to Supercuts again. It's worth noting that they offer shoe shines, massages, full shaves, and basically any other service you can imagine. It's really a full service shop for all your manly styling needs.
