Top drawer service from Lynette made this a very memorable luncheon, she was perfection in a server. She clearly has a lot of experience in the dance that is exceptional customer service. The quality of our meal was also excellent. The Heritage green salad was monstrous and easily satiated the lovely K and I. It was fresh, nicely plated and had lots of all the goodies mentioned on the menu. The Celery soup of the day was also great. We make it at home, so trying a slightly different version gave us some ideas to try. The chicken wings were on special and were plump, very nicely cooked and absolutely delicious. The pub itself is nicely appointed inside with a wide choice of sitting arrangements which we like. The place also has a significant number of folks that were greeted by name, which in our mind is a very good indication of a top quality establishment. One final thing was the washrooms were spotless and smelled nice and clean, from being clean, no perfumed cover up here. All in all one of best experiences for lunch in a long while. Classic neighborhood pub! My husband and I came here while visiting the island and it was decked out in Halloween spookiness - loved it. We sat within the bar area and the service was great! Really friendly! I ordered the chicken wings - blue moon flavour which is blue cheese and franks and omg they were so good and they gave me 13 wings! A proper pound! No one does that anymore. The wings had some good size to them too I took half home for lunch. Also great cold. They're really sauces wings so if you're not a sauce lover ask for it on the side! Some of the better wings I've had, my only feedback would be I wanted them to stay a touch crispier out of the fryer. The place was beautiful outside. Right off the highway. Easy to find. The service was slow, short not anything extra. The blackberry ale was really tasty. I needed something simple for my stomach but ordered the chicken strips which were the worst I've ever had. Dry as straw. FlavorLESS. Ranch was extra cost which was fine. I have been a frequent visitor to the 4 Mile and have been disappointed that over the past year the quality of food has been on a decline. My last visit for lunch I ordered their beef dip and couldn't finish it. I was served a very bland meal. I expect a beef dip with flavour like a horseradish mayo or have onions and a toasted bun. We are staying at a vacation cottage nearby, and we did not want to drive back into Victoria tonight. This place was nearby and our hosts recommended it. The lot was packed when we arrived, and the dining room was full, but they gave us a little two top next to a fireplace, right inside the door. The service was friendly, if a bit leisurely, and the food was good. I ordered the soup of the day, which was a beef vegetable; it was delicious, like pot roast in broth. Yelp led us here and we're happy we followed the reviews! What a great spot. We decided to eat downstairs in the sports bar, it was a little quieter and had the Oilers game on. Mid afternoon with a chill in the air made the choice of roast beef dinners an easy one. Delicious. All of it. Good beer. Yummy mashed potatoes and gravy, finished with coffee and lovely atmosphere. I was there for my birthday. I ordered the roast beef plate. I was amazed by the perfectly cooked veggies on my plate. The roast beef and gravy were excellent. I had an unexpected complimentary dessert for my birthday. I was so full, that I decided to share my brownie with my daughter and her husband. The nice waitress just voluntarily brought us 3 spoons. Saturday, late afternoon, and we stopped for a drink in the pub. Service was excellent. It was so excellent and friendly that we decided to indulge in the mussels. They were very, very good. You know, it was a Wednesday wing night the 25th of Sept/24. My friend and I ordered naked salt and pepper wings with a half caeser salad. The salad was superb, however we only received 7 wings which worked out to be $2 a wing. What happened to a dozen wings? The wings were delish but only 7 for $14. This is a very nice establishment. Apparently it's been around since the 80s but I've only recently started seeing the bottles at the store. Their lineup is full of innovative flavors and combinations - kudos to the brewmaster! Bought a meowler on the way out - 32oz is just the right size! As for food, the veggie burger was amazing. Healthy and tasty - not an easy feat to pull off! The chicken sandwich was good (said my friend) but it had too much slippery sauce and fell apart immediately. The side salad was good with the veggie burger. Pineapple wheat was full bodied and complex. Alicia was our server and did a great job - thank you much! Highly recommend! Great place for a relaxing beer, dinner or lunch. I love the garden around it. The service is great and food is excellent. I ordered the chicken wings and it was perfectly done to my standard. My partner ordered the Forbidden Delight. It sure was a real delight to behold and savour. We came back again this year for my partner's 70th birthday. Forbidden Delight is what she ordered again. Went for a late lunch at 4 Mile Pub in View Royal this past Friday. The pub is lovely on a nice summer's day. People go there for the beer. As for the food, we don't recommend going there. Our reuben sandwich was very greasy. Oily. Not very good. The server, Lynette, was very nice. Unfortunately, though, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Don't go with kids for snacks and a drink. You get herded into the resto downstairs where service is incredibly slow. Had this experience twice. Sitting 20 mins or more before a single drink served and only moderately busy. They need a better system with bartending help downstairs. It's fine however if you go with adults only and can sit in the bar area. Service decent and better atmosphere. Happy hour drinks are cheap but the food price just okay since it's a smaller portion for happy hour. Payment machine was set for an 18% tip default. No thanks on this visit. read more

The food was amazing . We are in the main restaurant and it was like being at your aunts house with the warm sun coming in through the windows. The seats were so comfy I wanted to nap after I was done eating. They have a pub side and sports bar down below. 3 of us ate there last Sunday ( Mar 6/22) just in time for Happy Hour. Two of us ordered the Tacos...one had The lime chicken, and the other Blackened Prawns, and our third person shared a half order of Natchos...that was plenty of food and the two tacos were delicious , heaped to the top with fresh avacado slices on top . Actually, the appies pretty much filled us up, but my daughter ordered the chowder, and I had the calamari...plenty to fill me up, so I took half of the calamari home. While we were able to order quickly, it was clear something was off as our waitress became the bartender and it took well over 45 minutes to get our simple pub food. So Wings Wednesdays meant-- YES half-priced wings! Super stoked, we ordered five pounds of them. But first, here's Elephant's Virgin Caesar ($2.95). Pretty good price for a drink! He says he always enjoys his caesars here every time! Onto the main event: WINGS ($12.95/pound, half price on Wednesdays). All of them were cooked well, juicy inside and crispy outside.We ordered the BBQ wings, which I felt packed a strong smokey flavor. A little on the salty side, but sauce was just the right amount. I chose the Lemon Pepper, which were dry wings. I didn't taste much of the lemon, but with the lemon wedges we got with another dish spritzed on them-- mm! There was some sweetness to the peppery sprinkles and although they were dry wings, the insides were still very juicy. The Blue Moon was quite special, I'd never tasted anything quite like it. It's blue cheese with buffalo hot sauce, felt it was too salty and a bit spicy for me. However I liked the pairing of flavors as they literally burst in my mouth. Fourth pound was Teriyaki wings, these were quite salty. Not very memorable to me as I felt they were a bit too saucy. Last pound! Honey garlic! So much honey, not a lot of garlic. Although I thought it would be too saucy, it wasn't overly sweet and I quite liked these wings. On top of that we ordered Cod Fish and Chips with an extra piece of fish ($16.65). The cod was flakey and moist, crispy outside. Didn't touch the fries much, but they were your average pub fries. Salad on the side was light and tangy, helped cut the fat feeling of all the wings we were having! Had to try a pasta, so we got an Ocean Liner Linguini ($16.65). This had mussels, clams, wild salmon, cod, and shrimp in a white wine cream sauce. The seafood was very plentiful and fresh, the pasta was al dente. Sauce was a bit on the sweet side. Overall our meal was very enjoyable, although it did take quite some time for our wings and food to finally arrive (probably cuz we ordered 5 pounds). Our server was cheerful and friendly. One thing I wish they could improve upon would be drink refills, our water was empty for about half the meal, but our server was not around for us to ask or offer us refills. We passed by this on the way out to East Sooke. While or on the hike someone recommended the rice pudding Porter here. So we stopped in to check it out. We learned that it actually isn't associated with the six or 17 mile pubs. 6 mile was the first and 4 mile the second, but all separately owned. The Porter was yummy but we only had one as they have zero tolerance drinking and driving laws. With a rental, wanted to be cautious. We had the soups there as well, which were decent. Lets get the negative things out of the way first: We had this dessert there that was clearly storebought and well... we could have clearly bought it at a store. It was this disappointing little chocolate cake with hot chocolate syrup on/in it. We asked the waitress if it was made in-house and she told us it wasn't. I don't know if that means none of their desserts are but it means I'm not ordering desserts there in the foreseeable future. That said: I really do like this place a lot. We liked it so much that ate there on both Saturday and Sunday nights a couple of weeks ago. One night in the fancy, homey side, and one night in the sports bar side. I liked both sides a lot and am glad that the fancy side is there for the nights where a game is on in the sports bar side. Let's see what I can remember: The yam fries are FANTASTIC. The fajita roll up was wonderful and big enough so that I was able to split it between two meals. The Bram Stoker linguini was really tasty and garlic-y. Next time I'm in Victoria, or visiting Hatley Castle (Royal Roads University) I'm definitely coming back here. Here's my quick rundown: - Close to excellent pub food (depending on what you order). First we had beer, wine and appetizers inside the main level pub area; then lunch at the outside patio restaurant, ending up with eating dinner inside the main restaurant. - The fresh mussels with crusty Italian bread were ^&#@&* AWESOME. So I ordered 3 more servings and another bottle of white wine. Don't laugh. - Triple Seafood Linguini was very good. Okay, VERY good. - Escargot was delish!!! - Hamburgers were very very good. - Alcohol selection is good. - Ambience and architecture is quaint, charming, relaxed in English cottage Tudor. - Gardens are nice and well-kept. - Staff: attractive, attentive and friendly. We have dined many times in the restaurant and the pub, but not the downstairs sports bar. We're very glad it's there so that we don't have that atmosphere upstairs. That's where the 6-Mile has it all wrong in my opinion. Be a pub or be a sports bar, but don't try to be both. At the Four Mile, the food and service are consistently good. You can never go wrong in a cozy English style pub with a proper cup of tea that served with the tea in a real teapot. I like that the menu is updated but that they keep the favourites. You can take the family to the restaurant side but the pub is for adults only. The gardens are lovely and there's a pretty gazebo outside where you can wait for friends, or tie up your pooch if you walk here like we do! read more

What a great pub. My boyfriend and I came up from Seattle and ended up here after visiting a few other pubs in the area. This place was our absolute favorite. The locals and bar staff were super welcoming and made our trip to Victoria BC so much more fun. I tried the shrimp poppers (recommended by the sweetest woman named Barb) and my boyfriend had the dry ribs which he thought were super tasty. I have eaten here many times (it's just up the street from where I live) and the food is typical pub food - competently prepared. I often order chicken wings and they are quite good - not too dry. I have ordered steaks on occasion and they have always been tender and well presented. The thing that sets the place apart from the other Victoria pubs is the ambience. The place is a large Tudor style house. There is a cozy restaurant downstairs. Upstairs is a pub with many large screen televisions. The Four Mile House is an ideal place for friends to gather to watch a sporting event. One note on the service. It is not consistent. Most of the time the service is very quick, but there have been more than a couple of times when I have waited over half-an-hour to get my bill or to get change from my bill.
