He involved me deeply in Buster's care, offering a variety of treatment options, thoroughly explaining his complex condition, and even keeping him overnight various times for close monitoring and advanced protocols. Thanks to their app, I was able to stay in constant contact with Dr. Tom, who provided regular updates and kept a close watch throughout the process. Dr. Tom's bedside manner, attention to detail, and commitment to Buster's recovery was extraordinary. I appreciated the clarity when finances were discussed, allowing us to focus on treatment rather than feeling pressured into impossible decisions. I genuinely believed Buster wouldn't survive--but Dr. Tom saved his life with skill, persistence, and compassion. I personally had over 5 years working as a veterinary technician and receptionist at four animal hospitals, I was truly impressed and grateful for the care Buster received. The staff was precise, compassionate, and clear in their communication, making it easy for me to make informed decisions every step of the way. In all my years working in veterinary settings and caring for my own animals, I've never experienced such round-the-clock dedication. Buster is now home and recovering, and when medications need adjusting or questions come up, Dr. Tom and his team remain attentive, available, and supportive. I know how difficult and demanding veterinary medicine is. It requires immense knowledge, empathy, and problem-solving. Angels Veterinary Hospital has the full package--and then some. Ginny guided me with utmost care. She went out of her way to make sure Petco filled a prescription (Petco made a few errors but Ginny helped straighten it out). Ginny is a rural vet and has the wonderful quality of old-time quality-care in our small towns. I have not fostered or adopted a cat or dog from Calaveras Humane Society - so I cannot speak to…read morethat experience. What I can speak to is all of the good that they do in the local community to help create awareness about animals in need. They do so with a creative sense of humor - which further propels inspiring animal stories into public circles. Recently there was the most adorable story of five puppies born to a mother dog named Ms. Pickles at Calaveras Humane Society. The puppies quickly went viral and were nicknamed the "baby gherkins" You can follow more about their story here - https://www.facebook.com/CalaverasHumaneSociety . Pretty soon a loyal following of people were glued to the continual fun updates about the 'gherkins' as they grew and were getting ready for adoption. Calaveras Humane Society had their official adoption day slated for this past Saturday - May 30th. Five groups of dedicated 'gherkin' parents to be - camped out for days outside the Calaveras Humane Society - for the opportunity to bring home a lil 'gherkin' puppy. By Saturday morning, when they were officially able to adopt their respective adorable 'gherkin' puppies - they were a little family of passionate animal lovers - who I suspect will all stay in touch as their 'gherkins' get older. They didn't hold back when they disclosed that Rosie was a "jerk". Rosie ended up getting adopted by a lovely woman - who even shared a fun update about Rosie's spicy personality later on CHS' FB page. You can find the full version on CHS' FB page: "We're going to be perfectly candid here, in a way you won't usually hear from shelters or rescues who are trying to get a pet adopted: Rosie is a jerk. Yes, you read that correctly. We could try to be cute about it, and say things like, "Rosie is a diva princess." And yes, she is. But she's also a jerk. Some cats have an internal timer ("You may pet me for five minutes before I become overstimulated and swat the crap out of you"). Rosie's internal timer ranges from point-two-five seconds to a few minutes or more. It turns things into a rather interesting game of chance: Am I gonna get slapped now? Or just soon? Because oh yes indeed, rest assured that there's gonna be some slappin' happenin'. Rosie has a few people here that she's extremely fond of. She slaps them too. A true cat lover, someone familiar with the feline mind, will appreciate Rosie. The meek or non-cat-savvy need not apply. Please share to help us find that special person who says to him/herself, "Oh my goodness, THAT is the cat for me!" .... A few fantastic things about Rosie: She has amazing, silky fur that she keeps impeccably clean and shiny. She's almost five months old and playful and so much fun. She's ridiculously outgoing and friendly, and loves to be admired..." The Calavares area has a lot of animals in need. No rescue or animal non-profit is perfect and many have to contend with limited resources and staffing. That being said - I appreciate that Calaveras Humane Society strives to keep amazing animals who need homes - top of mind for the greater community. They do so by having fun with their social media presence and staying true to the personalities of both the animals and the community(ies) that they serve. Trust.

I gave them…read moreone star because not all of their associates were as rude, insulting, disrespectful and patronizing as the vet. Backgrounder: we bought a house with a large, fenced yard so that our hunting dog could have the freedom to run and explore to his heart's content because walks were never enough for our registered field dog. So he usually runs around our property without a collar which we only use when we take him out. Today, we couldn't find his collar in our hurry to make it to Discount Pet on Hammer Lane for his heart worm test before VIP Pet closed for the week, so we used what was in sight: a one-piece leash with a loop at the end aka a choke collar just so we could make it on time. Although she knew absolutely nothing about us and our dog, the vet immediately started criticizing us for using such a collar, saying it was "unacceptable" in a very patronizing tone, going on and on, asking if we wanted such a collar around our necks, and even having the temerity to tell my husband he didn't know how to train our dog who is an 8-year-old veteran of multiple, always successful and safe hunting trips that would be impossible without careful training. Despite knowing nothing about our dog's temperament, our relationship with him (he's our baby), or our background as loving dog humans for over 30 years, she was disrespectful, obnoxious and highly presumptuous, putting us off ever using VIP Pet Services again. Through the years, we've spent hundreds of dollars at VIP Pet. I liked the convenience and their staff until today. You can be sure that after this bad experience, I'll be looking for a good neighborhood vet who knows how to treat humans, as well as dogs, humanely and respectfully.

The team gave me a two to three hour estimate and advised they would call me when he was ready. They hit the timing dead on at two hours. He was beautiful, as well as nicely trimmed claws, including his dew claw. I could not have asked for better service. Fur Sure is now my pet groomer of choice.
