After seeing my dog in distress I ask if the tech is going to come out and I'm told they are still waiting for the vet to approve that. Meanwhile people are outside waiting too. Ultimately I walked out because I couldn't watch my dog in distress anymore. Why bother making appointments if you just sit there waiting? I have been going to this vet for over 15 YEARS at this presently I have 3 dogs that which two are puppies I went today for a puppy visit for both and Dr.Markowitz which is the co-owner who was the vet on duty was very rude and arrogant. After waiting in the car for over half an hour and waiting in the for proximity 15 minutes he asked me what shot the puppy and refused to rested the puppy's paperwork. When Dr.Perez was there everyone was more friendly including the office staff. I went there and about July and there was another lady veterinarian there, which was very friendly and answered any questions that I had. So when the visit was over, I was asking the medical assistant how do I get that that he he peeped his head in the door and said started talking and I said excuse me, I'm talking to this young lady, and he said oh, I can answer your question, and I said no thank you this young lady can answer my question he slammed the door. Then I get in my car to look at my bill that I paid and I see that he charged me $91 for office exam. He did not even look in her ears. Look at her eyes look at her bottom. He only asked me if there was any problems and I said no I would not recommend this vet to anyone. I feel like they are not there for the puppies anymore the way he administered the shot and my puppy was very painful. She cried out. Normally they like rub it with their hands after they administered the shot, he did not do that, so in my opinion, please take your puppy dogs cats to someone else. I had gone to this vet for my dog for the past 4 years. I was thinking about finding a new vet because it seems like every time I go there its a minimum of a $200 bill (They are defiantly among the higher cost vets in the area). Last Friday I called and made an appointment for my dog, they scheduled me for the same day. I showed up the time of my appointment and waited in my car for the next 45+ minutes. It wasnt until I noticed people that were pulling up and going in after only being there for 10 minutes or so that I realized they might have made a mistake and forgot about me or just thought I might have already been helped. (There was confusion when I originally called saying I was already checked in when I had just arrived). So I called to make sure and the girl that answered had such attitude with me. I honestly couldnt understand it. I finally hung up and went in to talk to the vet about his/her staff members attitude. When I walked in the door the girl immediately started with the attitude again. I then just said "I would like to speak with the vet." She said with great attitude "The vet is very busy, you dont just walk in here and demand to speak to the vet!" I said "I didnt demand anything, I asked to speak to the vet." She said well the vet it too busy to speak with you." I said "Thats fine... I will wait to speak to him." She said, " You can wait all day if you want." Honestly at this point I should have just left and called back another time and explained what happened but her attitude got the better of me and I replied "Fine... and when I talk to him I will tell him how bitchy you are."` At this point she got up and said,"Now you are getting thrown out of here." Long story short I finally got to speak to the vet and explained everything as best I could because he was in a terrible rush. I was going to leave but I didnt want my dog to suffer because this one lady had her own personal issues, so I let them take care of my dog. End result I received a over inflated bill for $413 bill for 5 minutes with the vet where he didnt even examine the dog. I took my cat Grey to this office on 11/5/2020 because he wasn't feeling well. He was skinny, not eating much and not himself. They took blood work and did an examination. They said everything was clear. He didn't get better so we took him back on 12/7/2020. I knew my cat was sick and they insisted he was fine, I let my guard down. He died on 12/13/20 hardly a week later. I am disgusted with this office's behavior. They are scammers and let my cat die. I called them to Inform them and I wanted an examination. The doctor told us to come by. We did and they thought we were there for cremation. I told them I wanted them to examine him. They said they don't do that and don't perform cat autopsies (necropsies). They refused to even look at him. They took over $600 of my money to treat him and they couldn't even look at him. The lady who came to the door was very short and to the point and unhelpful. No sympathy and they couldn't even give me peace of mind by examining him. He was literally there 6 days ago and now he is dead. My boyfriend calls back a little while later and asks the front desk if they perform cat autopsies (necropsies) and the lady said YES and the doctor would give us half off. I told the lady our story and she said "oh you guys were just here". They didn't know it was us calling. So you do cat autopsies huh? Why did the lady at the door say you don't do that. The only option they gave us was to cremate him since they don't do necropsies. But when we called and they didn't realize it was us, they said they do them even at half off. They are scammers and I trusted them to take care of my pet and trusted their judgement. They took $600 and couldn't even give me peace of mind. UPDATE: I called Union Animal Hospital two weeks ago requesting a refund for the multiple visits where my Kai was seen but not examined in a way in which the problem was identified and resolved. I spoke with Carla who is the manager and was told she needed to speak with the other vets that saw Kai. and get back to me. I waited a week and called back, she said she had not forgotten me and that they would give me a refund for 3 visits once she goes through the invoices and by doing so they are not admitting and wrongdoing. She then told me once the transaction took place they would be severing ties with me. Well let me tell you what happened yesterday....I took him to the groomer to get a bath and a cut, while he was there they called me to say his anal gland was leaking and they would take care of it ...okay but then when I went to pick him up They told me he had an infection....I told them I had taken him to the vet several times to address it but it kept coming back, the even gave me a name and location of another vet. I was extremely upset and called my vet and told them I was on my way there and we had to get to the bottom of this now. I even stated that to the vet yesterday who was a woman named PHYLLIS like me ....she turned out to be an angel . She first examined his privates and the discharge which was horrible, pulled the skin back a bit and saw what she thought was a lump of hair....Kai growled a bit so she and her assistant took him in the back to take a better look. Within 10 seconds she came back and said look at this hair the was trapped in the shaft of his privates....I said that is not hair it is some of the stuffing one of the pillows he humped and destroyed. Now mind you I had been the at least 3 times and no other vet there did that. The odor and discharge was from his urine getting trapped in the stuffing. He is now on another round of antibiotics, she even gave him a shot before we left... Last night Kai slept peacefully, no constant licking his privates all night and I woke up with him next to me and the odor is gone. Thank God for a caring groomer and the amazing vet PHYLLIS KING at the Union Animal Hospital, she told me she had never seen anything like that in her 35 years as a practicing vet. When you call they act super nice on the phone but when you get there , they couldn't care less about any concerns or questions you have . The dr was super rude on the phone , talking over me and did not care about anything except me paying $800 for a surgery. My family and I recently moved from another state where we had our share of good and bad vets. Our cat suffers from digestive and bowel problems and needs special care from the vet. We scheduled an emergency visit to union animal hospital for the first time and were not sure what to expect. They scheduled us in immediately and Dr. Perez and her assistant were kind, caring and gentle with our cat. Dr. Perez answered all of our questions, looked at our cats past records and developed a real plan of action to treat him, unlike our past vets who continuously told us to switch foods instead of actually performing real exams or evaluating our cat based on his mood/behavior/etc. So far it has only been one day since the visit and our cat is seriously almost back to normal...he has more energy, he's eating more and he's showing us he's getting better! My cat Charlie had a life threatening emergency and we rushed him here because it was open on a Sunday. We fortunately called ahead and they rushed him right into emergency triage without as wasted word. He was minutes away from death, and I was pretty sure he stopped breathing when we pulled up. They saved his life. His temperature was 93 degrees when he got there. They stablized him enough so that he could hang on long enough to get him to the lady who runs the organization we adopted him from (purrfect paws -- the deserve equal Accolades). Danni from perfect paws had everything prepped at the vets office in which she works, and he was in the hospital for 8 days. He's home and bounding around with his sister again, and the price was pretty damn reasonable all things considered (and members of purrfect paws sent us checks to help out which was an amazing gesture). The most amazing thing is they called us to see if he made it. The staff and the doctor were really straight with us, and also compassionate and patient. Also the facility was really clean and somehow didn't smell like animals somehow. They will be getting my business from now on. They were there when my family dog Jade needed them. My normal vet was out of town when my dog took ill, after calling around Union Animal hospital told me to come in with my dog. They staff was pleasant and you can tell they care about the animals. The vet on site took time to assess her and did his best to cure her without the crazy sticker shock. Their initial consultation fee is $75 for small dogs which is a lil higher than other places but given the circumstances I couldn't complain. The real sticker shock came with the X-ray which ran me $275 bucks! I wasn't expecting that and I guess I should have asked before he suggested we do them. Not sure I would have said no given how sick she was feeling. I'm happy to say that whatever shot he gave her and meds did the trick she is back to her happy self. I would go see them again. I brought my cat here because he had been urinating on my bed for about a week now and wanted to know if it was because of a bladder issue or a behavioral issue. My normal vet (Banfield) didn't have an available appointment for another 2 weeks and this hospital was opened on Sundays (a big plus). This place is very clean and new looking. Staff was friendly, but I can't believe the prices. $74 just for the visit. Kinda pricey to me. I'm use to the regular $40-50 for an office visit. Vet said it could either be a bladder issue (was not sure, said he needed a urine sample, which I'm not sure why he didn't take since my cat did have an accident in his cage on the way over) or behavioral issue, gave my cat a $99 antibiotic injection, said to see if the urination persists, and gave me a few tips (recommended a spray and to change his litter box). For this price I would've expected more certainties. read more

My initial visit here was in May of this year. I was referred by an old co-worker who had nothing but praise for Dr. Perez. I had found a small lump on the chest of my then 11 year old toy Chihuahua. It popped up almost immediately and my family and I were very concerned. We were scheduled same day with no issue. I started going here based on positive online reviews. Things were fine in the beginning. However, my hound mix had hair loss, flaky skin and a few other issues. They took blood and just said to feed a specific diet, had me buy crazy expensive omega 3 oil, special shampoo, etc. This was in March (7 months ago). We decided to switch to Summit Dog & Cat after our dog was getting worse and Union made my husband wait 1.5 hours past our appointment time to see the vet. When calling to retrieve her records, I was told "Oh...I see the vet never discussed your dog's blood work from March with you. I will have her call". Long story short, my dog's thyroid levels were low and she had to be put on medication for Hypothyroidism immediately. When I asked the vet why no one called me to tell me these results she said "It's the clients responsibility to call and double check on lab work so it doesn't get lost". What?!? I have had dogs my entire life, fostered more than I can count and dealt with vets in multiple states. I have NEVER heard this before. They were unapologetic and shrugged off the fact that they sat on my dog's diagnosis for 7 months while she suffered needlessly, including a now rampant skin infection on her back that would have been prevented had she been on the Thyroid medication. DO NOT TAKE EXOTIC PETS TO THIS VET! I'm not the type of person who would ever write a review, but how could you call yourself a vet when you don't even care about animals? If I could give negative stars I would. I brought my chinchilla in because he stopped eating, he wasn't being active and he was acting weird. I had no idea what it was or what was wrong, so we brought him to Doctor Isabel Perez. She told us our chins teeth were overgrown, and needed to be shaved down. They charged us nearly $400 dollars to fix his teeth. After we brought our chinny home from the "surgery" he looked terrible! He was crying, still in pain, as if they did not use anesthesia when we paid for it. My chinchilla was traumatized after he came back home. A month goes by, my chin still won't eat, he is in pain, crying, symptoms are getting worse, we called and made an appointment again. We brought him in just for them to tell us we needed to go to a specialist. To get x-rays at another place and to get his teeth filed again!! Basically they wanted me to pay for what they were supposed to fix, because apparently they didn't even shave his teeth completely or correctly! The appointment they set for us was 3 days out, meanwhile my chinchilla cannot eat, he couldn't even move. So we called again, and we set an emergency visit, they wouldn't see us at Union Hospital, so they sent us to another vet. So when we got to the other vet Boulevard veterinary clinic in Kenilworth, the staff was rude and displeased to see us again, because it was the same staff as in Union. The vet that attended us this time was Dr. Markowitz. He handled our chinchilla without care, he grabbed him like a rag doll. He pulled him out of the carrier, he held him improperly, ripped clumps of his fur off and said it was normal for that much fur to fall off, and he was forcing open our chinchillas mouth while the chin is in pain and crying. Then Dr. Markowitz grabbed his tools to "fix" his teeth, after we suggested his teeth were what was causing pain, he said that his teeth weren't the problem. Dr. Markowitz then proceeds to shove a wooden tongue stick down my chinchillas mouth and broke his teeth!! Then Dr. Markowitz makes a joke saying " I guess we didn't need the tools to shave his teeth" because he literally broke them with the stick! I am so disgusted with this experience! Dr. Fuerst has been nothing short of amazing. I have an 8 year rottweiler who broke his nail and had to have it removed in August. What we thought was a just a broken nail ended up being cancer. Fortunately, Dr. Fuerst was able to diagnose it, amputate the toe, and was completely supportive through the whole process. My dog has been healing wonderfully! He's back to his playful self! Throughout the whole process, Dr. Fuerst continuously made himself available for check ins. He was always patient with my dog and my copious amount of questions. His staff was courteous and helpful, even going as far as coming out to the car to help me get him in and out. I'm extremely thankful for all of his help! I have been here before for minor things (dog wouldn't stop scratching her ears, etc.) and was very pleased with service/care, but I was so nervous when it came time for my dogs surgery. She is a 9 year old yorkie mix with really bad teeth. I knew they were bad from the smell and the little of the teeth she would let me see. Long story short for the teeth cleaning and extraction my dog had to be put to sleep. I was a nervous wreck. However, Dr. Perez and the staff reassured me that everything would be fine and it was! Lily had a successful surgery even though they had to take out A LOT of teeth and when I say A LOT, I mean it. Not only did she have a successful surgery the pricing was more reasonable than I initially thought.
