And they have just expanded the historic building to include a third theater, not to mention the garden behind the Lounge where we have seen a couple of films. It's always a treat when a show in Theater 1is preceded by organ music by Dennis Scott; he generally themes the music to the movie (ex: when we saw "Contempt" this weekend he said all the songs he played were from the year the film came out). They show everything: action, romance, foreign films, cult classics like "Rocky Horror," thrillers and suspense, indie films, documentaries, animation. Every Valentine's Day they show "The Princess Bride," and they do series like "Metal Movie Night," "Cat Video Fest," and "Sapphopalooza." The building itself is reason to go, particularly since it has been restored and new chairs were put into Theater 1 a couple of years ago. We have been in both Theaters 2&3 now since that more recent renovation and they also look beautiful and are very comfortable. Check out a movie and a piece of Chicago history at the same time!

The theater I went to was very clean and the reclining chair was warm and comfortable. Wait staff was courteous. I ordered my ticket online on their website and there were no problems with it. I loved that I could order a tall glass of water. THANK YOU for that. I haven't been to many places that just offer water that isn't in a plastic bottle. Viewers were very respectful. The theater was dead quiet through the whole movie and everyone followed the rules. Good vibe, good crowd. Good size screen and good arrangement. I can't wait to come back. I might even be back tomorrow. Best cinema experience I've had, and the best viewing crowd I've been in too. A tip for when you're ordering: When the movie started, it was too dark in the theater to scan the QR code again. Thankfully I could get the tab screen back up. Do not close your browser window on your phone so you can go back to it if you want to order more!

Food would show up cold, wrong, late and the staff became helpless to fix the problem. Then they got rid of the servers, replaced them with runners and a QR code, and as far as I can tell you can't even get a refill anymore. They try really hard to force a 20% tip out of you for this single visit to your table. Now the food is unappetizing mush rather than typical bar food. I think I'm done. I'd literally rather go to one of the big chain theaters than pay double for cold fries and a meal that's still frozen in the center.

This is a great option for a movie theatre, with lots of stuff to do around! I was extremely…read moreimpressed by the almost fully horizontal, comfortable leather seats, which felt like the movie theatre version of business class (the latter being a lot more...aspirational). Inside, the theatre was a bit too hot and stuffy, but it got better as we got used to it...or someone else notified them! The hallway into the theatre smelled like BO, which was unforeseen, but the theatre itself did not, thankfully. The bathrooms were almost fully out of toilet paper on a busy Friday night! However, when I told the one person I saw working there later on, she was very nice and said she'd tell someone to take care of it (and that person did!). It isn't bad enough to deduct two stars, even with other minor issues, but the sound itself was kind of bad at times...this is one of the main things a theater should be aware of! Some loud sounds in the movie resulted in some of the speakers rattling annoyingly. I am surprised. Movie theatres should be able to handle loud sounds. But in my recliner, it was easier to stomach...

However, the last few movies I saw were last minute and didn't leave many seat options at AMC. And so we ended up at CMC Old Orchard Luxury instead. However, this is anything, but luxury... - The line for the concessions is unnecessary long because they only have 1 person working it. And then you pick up your drink (and perhaps other things) in a window, which requires another wait. Why don't they have do it yourself fountain machines like the rest of the movie theaters/local businesses. - I've never met a movie theater popcorn I don't like until here. It's so stale and while i was bummed my husband got a kids pack popcorn for us to share at first, it turned out to be too much popcorn since it was inedible. The seats themselves are comfortable so they get a star for that. I recently when to the theater in the Glen and these seats definitely beat those, but AMC at NBC is still the winner when it comes to movie theaters in the North Shore. If you do find yourself here I suggest parking at Buffalo Wild Wings for an easy access to the theater unless you want to take advantage of all the dining/shopping options at Old Orchard.
