First visit: Chris's Midtown Café in Chadbourn, North Carolina, is absolutely worth a stop. There's a convenient parking lot right out front, along with plenty of street parking. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a clean, welcoming space and friendly smiles that set the tone for a great visit. Inside, there's an ice cream counter featuring some unique flavors -- one that really stood out was grape. I'd never tried grape ice cream before, but it was phenomenal. The café also includes a coffee and bakery section called The Sweet Spot, where they're planning to add even more treats in the coming weeks. I'm already looking forward to stopping back by to see what's new. Beyond sweets, the café offers a full menu of savory, home-style favorites, including fried pork chops and a hot bar serving hearty, home-cooked meals. I went with the cheeseburger topped with their homemade chili, and it was perfection -- exactly how a burger should be: juicy, flavorful, and downright delicious. Second visit (breakfast stop): I happened to drive by one morning and saw they were open. I had a little time, so I turned around and went back -- and I'm glad I did. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and it was excellent. The bread was fluffy and fresh, the bacon was thick and substantial -- not that thin little pancake-house bacon -- and the egg was cooked perfectly. Everything came together just right. You can definitely put them on your radar for a quick breakfast stop, too. Pro tip: call ahead and they'll have it ready when you get there. If you're ever passing through Chadbourn -- especially if you're headed toward Myrtle Beach -- do yourself a favor and stop at Chris's Midtown Café. Easy to pull in, great food, friendly atmosphere, and you'll leave satisfied.

Nothing fancy. You order at the counter or call it in and it's usually pretty quick. For the most part they make their wings quite well and have numerous sauce options. When I arrived, the drive-thru line was wrapped completely around the building which usually means a long wait no matter how you order. That kind of speed during a rush is definitely worth mentioning. The bathrooms were clean, and my food came out hot and fresh. The chicken tenders were very small (which seems to be an ongoing trend at Zaxby's), but still tasted good. One thing I did notice and it stood out as a safety concern was that there were several areas of standing water around the lobby. They had the white caution signs out, but it still seemed like a pretty big slipping hazard, especially for anyone moving quickly or not paying close attention.
