I meant to leave this on Yelp earlier and apparently never hit "send," so here it is -- and I'm…read moreadding a quick update from a second visit as well. First visit: Chris's Midtown Café in Chadbourn, North Carolina, is absolutely worth a stop. There's a convenient parking lot right out front, along with plenty of street parking. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a clean, welcoming space and friendly smiles that set the tone for a great visit. Inside, there's an ice cream counter featuring some unique flavors -- one that really stood out was grape. I'd never tried grape ice cream before, but it was phenomenal. The café also includes a coffee and bakery section called The Sweet Spot, where they're planning to add even more treats in the coming weeks. I'm already looking forward to stopping back by to see what's new. Beyond sweets, the café offers a full menu of savory, home-style favorites, including fried pork chops and a hot bar serving hearty, home-cooked meals. I went with the cheeseburger topped with their homemade chili, and it was perfection -- exactly how a burger should be: juicy, flavorful, and downright delicious. Second visit (breakfast stop): I happened to drive by one morning and saw they were open. I had a little time, so I turned around and went back -- and I'm glad I did. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and it was excellent. The bread was fluffy and fresh, the bacon was thick and substantial -- not that thin little pancake-house bacon -- and the egg was cooked perfectly. Everything came together just right. You can definitely put them on your radar for a quick breakfast stop, too. Pro tip: call ahead and they'll have it ready when you get there. If you're ever passing through Chadbourn -- especially if you're headed toward Myrtle Beach -- do yourself a favor and stop at Chris's Midtown Café. Easy to pull in, great food, friendly atmosphere, and you'll leave satisfied.

Received a recommendation from the hotel to visit this local restaurant, and it definitely lived up…read moreto expectations. My husband is a wing connoisseur, and he ordered the 10-piece naked wings in buffalo sauce, and I decided to try the frogs leg. Both were excellent appetizers, and we ordered the Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries, and a shrimp quesadilla. Hubby loved his cheesesteak, and I can honestly say that the shrimp quesadilla was the best one I've ever had. We noticed lots of families eating and the waiter we had was terrific. We would definitely stop again if in the area. Only thing missing is Yuengling beer on tap - only got one in a bottle.

Our server Annie was outstanding, very friendly and attentive if I were just reviewing the service this would be a five star review the only thing she miss was she charged me a credit card fee even though I paid cash, unfortunately the kitchen staff isn't doing this restaurant any favors the frozen from a box preparations give even old greasy bar food a good name. We started with the fried chicken skin appetizer which are delicious if you've ever had them prepared fresh by a chef instead of previously frozen from a short order cook with little to no training, they were horrible if I had only one request it would be to remove these from the menu. After going back and forth we both decided to order the Thursday Night Special - a fried Katfish fillet, fried pop-corn shrimp, fries and plenty of grease with a side of pre-portioned coleslaw - I have no words for this mess I think the cook dumped everything straight from the fryer to the plate without letting the old grease drain back into the fryer. I may be a little harsh on the kitchen but they have issues and if any of them noticed we ate very little of anything plated here and passed on the slaw. Fortunately we were just passing through so we don't have to return here or blame it on "they were just having a bad day" I could of spent my dough on losing lottery tickets and would have been happier, the food here gets a do not recommend...
