Complete Disappointment - A Disgrace to Italian Cuisine I ordered a takeout meal from Anthony's Italian Restaurant, and it was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. Across multiple dishes, the quality was severely lacking, and the logistics of picking up the food were a total mess. The Food: Overcooked, Watery, and Questionable Ingredients Arancini (0/5): A complete disgrace to Sicily. The rice inside was pure mush, and the exterior--which is supposed to be perfectly crispy--was completely soggy. Worse still, the ground meat inside tasted rancid. It was entirely inedible. Chicken Anthony's (1/5): This dish was incredibly watery, bland, and absolutely not worth the $16 price tag. Spinach Pizza (3/5): The only saving grace for the savory dishes was that the flavors here were actually good. Unfortunately, the execution failed because the pizza was heavily overcooked. The Salad (2/5): Completely mediocre. It featured unripe tomatoes, pitted olives, and old, cheap feta cheese that had clearly been sliced a week ago and left to dry out. Desserts (2/5): The cannoli was a joke, containing barely a single spoonful of ricotta filling. The only item that tasted good was the limoncello cake--but that's because it was clearly commercial and not made in-house. The Takeout Experience: Total Chaos The ordering and pickup process was incredibly frustrating. When I called in my order, I had to repeat it several times because the background noise inside the restaurant was deafening, and the staff couldn't hear me. When I arrived to pick it up, the lobby layout proved to be a logistical nightmare. There were about 10 to 12 customers all awkwardly standing around waiting for their food, yet management has only provided a single chair in the front of the restaurant. The current setup simply does not work for a busy takeout business. The Verdict Between the chaotic pickup environment, overpriced dishes, and genuinely disgusting Arancini, I will not be returning to Anthony's. If you want authentic, fresh Italian food, look elsewhere. read more

Omg obsessed! This place is insanely authentic, and such a gem inside of whiteville and Columbus county. We are so stoked we found it. We had the Pierce & Co bolognese and the shrimp Toscani. Loved that they used local pierce and co sausage the fresh ground made all of the difference. Great sized shrimp and homemade sauce that was similar to vodka but had a nice flair to it. The meatball appetizer was perfectly portioned, and I loved the sauce on it. It's such a convenient location, also, on a cute Main Street area. I loved the bar area it was really flush for a "small town Italian joint". I felt like I was in the city. They have a dining area and it was spaced out and comfortable, I didn't want to intrude for pictures because there were a lot of tables filled (but still room to sit). The new location has beautiful woodwork, decor that speaks of the owner's past, with other prints added to capture your attention and add ambiance. There are great new dishes on the menu as well! Tony takes advantage of the local fresh sausage from Pierce & Company for a great pasta dish. Grouper served over a bed of rice is a new addition as well. The favorites remain on the menu as well. My husband and I drive all the way from Wilmington to eat at this restaurant. We've enjoyed everything we've ordered and we have tried quite a few dishes. Went here this evening with my wife and had to walk out. When we got there something felt off and we didn't feel welcomed. The waitress took our drink order and we told her we were ready to order and she said no and said she'd be back to get our order. Meanwhile a group of four came in and then a couple. After doing various tasks, she went to the table of four and took their drink order and also proceeded to take their meal order. So we were now behind another table who came in after us and we have not gotten our order taken. I thought surely she'll come over right away and get our order as well. Nope. She went back to various activities and made no attempt to come back to our table. So we were left to feel like we were not wanted there. Perhaps it was because we are an interracial couple and we weren't welcome in the establishment. I'll never know because I insisted that we just leave and not cause a scene. I should have gone with my wife's request and confronted this and requested an answer to the service we never got. So disappointed. read more

We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great Italian restaurant virtually in the middle of nowhere. The food was amazing. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dishes, stromboli, ravioli, and salad. The sauce was also very nice. The service was very good as well. Long wait time but I can honestly say the grilled chicken ceasar salad was one of the best I've ever had. The chicken was burnt but in a way that for me personally was pleasing. It had flavor and added to it. The atmosphere is roomy and quaint. Brick and wood. I also got the chocolate mousse and was very impressed. I'm not sure if it's frozen like Tokyo Expresses but it was amazing. And actually pretty cute and circular. I would definitely come here again for a high quality salad. Quaint restaurant, I had the "grill chicken Caesar salad" I guess they forgot the "-Ed" part on there. Anyways the bruschetta appetizer was delicious! The salad was grillED chicken, Romaine, Parmesan cheese and some croutons nothing spectacular about it. My husband had the baked ziti and had no complaints however the "waitress" Brooke seemed to be more interested in talking to her friends than taking care of her customers which was displeasing to me because the entire time I was there I did not get a refill even after she walked past my table multiple times with out asking if we were okay or needed anything. It wasn't until I nearly got out of my seat to get her attention while asking "can I have a refill please!" That she finally came and grabbed my glass. She didn't acknowledge us after she took our order she even served our food to us, talking to a girl across the room not even making eye contact. Needless to say she got a small tip. read more
