I'm only glad the neighbors in the next unit agreed. With no warning they one day showed up and started building around our porch, apparently with the intent of leaving a single side of the wall open facing the trash. The agent in charge of the property denied knowing this. I am told the town was called to place the stop order that was next to our door for months, and that stories like this are not uncommon. The customer service was not willing to discuss this with us, only started shouting the minute we mentioned why we'd called saying they wouldn't hear this anymore. I don't know if someone else had called them already but this was not the reaction I expected, and they were not polite or reasonable in their conduct.

The only thing that kept our sanity in that place was repeating the phrase "it's such a good location!" in our heads over and over. We were nickel and dimed by one of about three entities that own all of Amherst. When I say landlords are leaches on society, this is who I mean.
