I'd been looking around for somewhere nice to have dinner in the Northeast and saw a few good…read morereviews of the Topiary, so I brought the family and Mum out for a Mother's Day treat and to try out the Chefs Tasting Menu. The Topiary is located Newman's Nursery, and is a picturesque setting from what we could see in the dark. Keep an eye out while driving down Northeast Road at night so that you don't miss the driveway as the lighting on that road is pretty dim. Once inside, there is ample parking, and you'll likely be greeted on the way up to the restaurant by a friendly, vocal cat that hangs around. We enjoyed an excellent six course meal, each meal being made from locally sourced or foraged ingredients and paired with a different wine. One of the standouts for me was the sou-vide egg with pork belly and forest mushrooms. At the end, the chef introduced himself and talked about the final dessert item, garnishing it with a sprinkle of carrot seeds from the garden. It was a nice touch, and we were all very appreciative of the hard work and attention to detail that went into the food. This was a really good night! The food was excellent and the staff were welcoming and attentive, but not needy. The building has a real rustic charm to it, and my only regret was that we couldn't go out to see the outdoors as it was dark and freezing. I'm looking forward to coming here for breakfast or lunch some time and see the place during daylight hours.

She gave 5 days notice to cancel breakfast due circumstances out of her control. Topiary would not have been out of pocket, being a special occasion this table would've been snapped up. We have supported this Topiary for many years and always enjoyed meeting family and friends for special occasions. It does make me think twice whether to return anytime soon Karen J

I got my coffee ok which tasted great. I had to wait longer for the pancakes. I noticed the owner leaving the shop then later coming back into the shop with a yellow and red packet in his hand and I was already on alert as I recognized the package. 5 minutes later my 'freshly made' pancakes arrive and after the first look, then taste, it was obviously Golden pancakes from Woolworths supermarket. I went to the counter and said that my coffee was lovely but I was upset that they would serve pancakes from the supermarket. The owner just looked at me, shrugged and said 'sorry', nothing else, just 'sorry'. I think she was just saying sorry that I found them out. That's it... no real apology, no offer of an excuse or refund, nothing. My family and friends won't be eating there again as they obviously don't care about customer service or quality. Just thought I would let you know that I have shared this on social media as this was a deception. I hate being lied to and being misled. The description was 'freshly made' pancakes. I am just sorry that they are ruining the brand name. I am very disappointed and angry even now which is 9 hours later.

Nev's Supa Deli has - over the years - turned into a lunch bar, a coffee shop, a lotto stop, a cafe…read moreand a small grocery all rolled into one. What makes it better is the great family feel to the place and the keen and helpful service. The Milky family run this place and they get to know you and your order as you come in. The same family that owns Argos on the Parade, they have a great range of sandwiches and lunch options (including gluten free sandwiches and lunches), desserts and pies and pastries. They make a great coffee and have pretty much all of the essentials you might urgently need in the kitchen. This deli is open all of the time, from about 7am until about 7pm every day - including Christmas day, which has come in SO handy. There are tables and chairs and they encourage people to dine in the shop to create more of a cafe atmosphere - and they're succeeding. In the past few years, I have seen business increase to such an extent that I avoid going there during weekday lunch hours, where all the local tradies and council workers come for lunch, and somehow - the people serving manage to keep track of all of their names, orders and stories.

They know all customers by name and always have a smile. Food is amazing, borderline gourmet without the big prices. They even went as far as specially ordering my craving item when I was pregnant!!
