Don't park here. Sutter Stockton garage is one block away! The entire office I work in moved to monthly passes JUST to avoid dealing with the staff. Yes, not only is this one of the most expensive parking garages I've ever used, it is also staffed with the rudest people! OIt is convenient as ever, but that is the only positive aspect of parking here. Honestly, I would continue paying this higher rate only because of how convenient it is. It's a shame that I (and some coworkers) are going to be telling everybody we know to use a different parking garage solely based on the attitudes of the employees. Update: came in a different vehicle today and was harassed by the staff and made to wait till they could verify the vehicle had a permit (which is blatantly obvious hanging from my rear view mirror). I never thought I'd be reviewing a parking garage. But this was a novel experience so I had to. I've never parked my car in downtown SF overnight so this was new to me. I was staying in the Hotel des Arts which was just a block away. The hotel and the parking garage have an association so I was told to park in this garage. You get a discount for overnight parking. The parking garage is valet ONLY. I am always iffy about using valet parking since I don't really need to pay someone to drive and park my car. Additionally, the driver might steal something in my car! I did put my valuable (iPod, sunglasses, coin purse) in the trunk before I let my car be driven. I also should've left only the key to the car, and not my whole keychain in the ignition. Be sure to do this just in case something happens. Anyway, it turned out to be a good experience. My car was safe in a shaded, protected garage. The workers were friendly and helpful. Nothing was stolen and got my car back easily. I recommend this garage if you want to park overnight. 4 stars because it doesn't look that nice inside and when I parked at first it seemed fishy and the attendant didn't look friendly. read more

We had an issue with our hotel who decided to change garages in the middle of our stay. Alan, the boss, was flexible and gave us a discount and let us stay instead of moving our car. He also helped us navigate through stalled traffic on our way out. And all of this with a nice sense of humor. The other workers there help you park your car. The worst customer service ever! Nick the "manager" couldn't resolve our problem. When I arrived at this place to park my car I wasn't given the ticket bc the valet guy wasn't able to scan my VIN number and he said I was fine cuz he would leave this ticket with someone at the hotel I was staying for the next couple days (they do business with this hotel called Palihotel). Later Nick charged me an extra fee for losing my ticked (I didn't have any ticket ). He was extremely RUDE. The lady from the hotel I was staying helped me out. She called this old bold guy to see what was going on. Well, they talked for a couple minutes and she said the bold guy is gonna give me next overnight for free. Well, the next day during morning shift I picked my car up (nick wasn't there). When I come back the bold guy was there and barked. Where is the TICKET? I said I don't have any you know that. This guy said "I dropped it off at the hotel" Any employee from the hotel gave the when I left. It because he dropped it off while I was out. He was verbally aggressive again for no reason. This review of the garage staff, Alan in particular, is long overdue... I'm at 450 Sutter a few times a month for various appointments and have been for many years. Alan is always cheerful, professional, friendly, and takes excellent care of both me and my car! One example, when my remote battery was very weak, he offered to replace it for me while I was getting my teeth cleaned! When I came down from my appointment, the battery was replaced and my remote was magically working as it should. If I could give more than five stars, Alan would get 10! read more

While I was getting my wisdom teeth extracted, the valet guys were helping themselves to things in my car. I didn't remember to bring the valet key this morning. I came back to my car with my glove compartment unlocked. And the area between the front seats, everything was rearranged. The passenger seat was moved much further back to what I had it set to. As far as I know, nothing is missing. This is the one thing I hate about valet parking. People stealing (not in this case that I know of) and touching my shit when they're not supposed to. This garage is so pricey. That's cuz you're paying for valet guys to park your car and riffle/steal your belongings. Can you believe I had to tip these guys? URGH! From now on, I am parking across the street at the Sutter/Stockton garage. I called the garage to inform them of this. The guy wanted our license plate number to see who parked our car. I didn't feel comfortable giving him my license. He was of no help and said "without a license plate, I can't talk to the guy." So you can't have an all staff meeting with them? Give everyone a heads up that their fellow colleague did this and there will be consequences?" Fucking bullshit. I bet they're all in on it. read more

DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR HERE! When we parked here we didn't have any issues but when we were leaving there were mud prints on my car on the passenger side and the drivers side. When we brought this to the employees attention he asked if we'd like to file a report and we said yes. He calls his manager and has a sarcastic tone and says, "they want to file a report for a foot print" he smirked and didn't even care that they slightly damaged our car. Granted the damaged weren't super bad, the very fact that it wasn't taken care of was an issue. In the end he wiped it off and we were on our way. I park here a lot due to my doctors being in the building and around. Today, twice. Second time, this happened: One hour parking. Pay at 2.43pm, car is not delivered.. waiting.. waiting.. 10 minutes go past.. people arrive after me come and go.. I ask "WTF?" no one does anything.. This senior before me gets a car delivered that is not his and is told it is his car and to take it. He refuses to take it. End result: Paid at 2.43pm Got car at 3.05pm after complaining and asking 4 times WTF is my car??? Was late to pick up my 20 month old daughter from her daycare stuck in traffic. No apology, no nothing. What I was told when I was finally handed my car? "I was supposed to clock out at 3 lady, I had to search for your car to get it to you." Can you believe that? I read all of the reviews of parking garages in the Union Square area and got the impression that my car was going to be broken into and vandalized by homeless people or the staff. The hotel that we stayed in said this was an extremely safe and secure lot and it was. Additionally, the service was good, the people were very friendly and it was half the rate of the hotel's valet service which uses as the doorman at my hotel told me, a less secure lot. For people who work at the building or are there for a couple of hours, I have no idea if it's a bargain, but for overnight at a hotel, I highly recommend it. read more

I'm a spoiled brat. I don't' like to walk around alot and I don't like circling for parking. With that said, this garage is perfect for me if I don't want to deal with the largeness of the Sutter Stockton Garage and my destination isn't as close to the other garage where I normally park. Valet service pretty much: pull in, give them the car, and they park it for you. Of course it's not cheap, but as my father says, at this age, we can afford to treat ourselves. Though he probably didn't mean for me to apply it to me, as I'm not as aged as he is. Still it saved my feet, they were pleasant and quick, and I would gladly sacrifice a drink or two at a bar to have such a convenience when going downtown. read more

I have worked at the 450 Sutter Building for more than 5 years. I drive in from Eastbay and work 12-13 hour days as an executive in a medical practice. Despite the horrendous, inconsistent treatment I have experienced by their Manager Nick and most of their parking attendants, I remain respectful, pleasant and even tip the drivers after I pay astronomical fees. I learned and confirmed by Nick that my coworkers are charged different rates between $13-$30 per day (me being the most). They've flatlined my tires twice (including my brand new Mercedes just purchased this weekend and I parked there yesterday), and they scratched the paint on the bumper of my new car, I found the scratch this morning! They were caught on camera a year ago leaning down at car tires doing Lord knows what! Help! #unacceptable read more

Pricey, but very accessible. None of this parking and circling going on... You pull in, trade the valet your keys for a ticket, and head on your way. Damage: $7 for slightly over an hour, but the all-day rates are $19 if you're in by 11, out by 8, and for hotels they have a $30 all-day pass where you have 24hr in and out access. The price is the only reason they're 4 instead of 5 stars. Pretty good if you have an expense account and/or don't want to deal with the hassle of street parking. By the way, the valets there are incredibly nice and take great care of your car-- they always put the seat back in position, etc. read more

I parked here for 3.5 hours while my wife had an outpatient surgery in the building. I read recent Yelp reviews and saw recent pictures displaying an "early bird" rate of $21, so we arrived at 6pm with that expectation. I don't have sky-high expectations for customer service in a parking garage. When I picked up our car, the man at the cashier's desk rudely barked "$35" without looking at me. I asked about the early bird rate, he looked at me like I had four heads and laughed. When he calmed down, he told me the early bird rate is old. He again barked "$35," snatched the credit card out of my hand, passed me a receipt, and said "sign." Then, he pointed around the corner and just said "go." Again, I'm not expecting to be woo'd by the parking garage cashier, but for $35 I'd love to feel like I'm not at the whim of a jerk. Skip it! It was my first time parking my car at sutter garage, and when I picked up my car I asked ' where is my car key' the staff terribly looked at me and got in my car and started my engine and said ' your car is working it means your key is inside'.
