I heard a lot of people saying this garage was safe due to the police station next door. As I was pulling into the garage, a squad car was leaving the garage. This was reassuring to see and brought me peace of mind. I parked here for 8 hours on a weekday and there was no issues with my car. BEWARE of the tight turns. That was my only issue. We parked on the 3rd floor and boy oh boy was it an experience to travel up and down those turns. Crooked Lombard Street was a way smoother drive compared to the turns here. As you make the tight turns, you can't help but see all the scratch marks on the walls from all the other cars that were not as successful making these turns. Overall, this garage brings you safety, good value in San Francisco, and conveniently located in Chinatown with easy access to public transportation and the historic cable cars.

My secret go to place to park in SF secure and easy what else do you want. Walking distance to north beach, Broadway and China town

Safe (across the street from a police station!), well-lit, 24/7 access, automated payment that works, what's not to like. Best of all, the aphorisms stenciled on the floor adorning each parking space; essentially choosing a space is like cracking open a fortune cookie and pulling out the wisdom inside :)

Easy in and out. No problem finding a parking spot large enough to handle our Ford Expedition.

Good place to park while in SF for the morning. Easy in and out. Affordable. And I'm glad it wasn't super busy.

It's a good spot to keep your car safe while you are in Chinatown or the North Beach.

If you plan on hanging around North Beach this is the place to park. Pay before you get to your car and easy exit.

Great parking lot across the street from the police station, I will say the lot isn't for a new driver. The turns are sharp

I also have a dash cam which shows me parking.. my own car at the spot he directed to. Drove in at around 12pm on a Tuesday.. Parked in many parking garage already in the past. Ticket at kiosk before entering structure. (Paper) Goes in and one of the works points at a spot so I park into it. He asked me to give him my ticket (the one from the kiosk). Then he says "leave the keys in the car" so I get out and say "ok is that it?" He goes "how long are you going to park here? me: 20-40 mins" And hes like ok go so I leave. I get back and try to pay for the parking and the guy asked for my ticket receipt. Well I don't have it because I never got one.. And so charged max price for the ticket 25$ for like 45 minutes.. Back and forth with cashier "How did you not get a ticket we wouldn't have parked your car otherwise?" Well its so strange.. because I parked the car... and I left the keys in the car when the guy asked me to. The ticket receipt is also a massive card thats thick I definitely did not get one.. How can I get a 25$ charge when they have when I entered. Look at the enter and paid time.. It's a piece of paper too not some fob or keycard that's magnetic so it would make sense to charge the max. What kind of parking garage has a system where a person is responsible for even giving you a charge receipt when every OTHER garage in just takes a ticket and that's the thing you pay to get out with. Maybe just a SF thing.. But here we have a ticket at the kiosk to then hand to someone else to give you a separate ticket??? TLDR Just use any other parking garage in the finical district.. Or I guess make sure you get the ticket. Also there are no instructions for this place which I guess is a no brainer what kind of parking garage has a system like this that would require instructions.

One of the best rates you'll find since the downtown parking shortage began in 2010 with the demolition of the Transbay Terminal for construction of the Transbay Transit Center. I guess life will be better when they finally complete construction in 2017... Until then it's a daily struggle for parking with "Lot Full" signs everywhere you look. Here's how to find 500 Howard Street for cheap parking...as of October 2011. Usually you'd enter Natoma heading north on 2nd Street. Usually, but no more! Now, heading south on 1st street after Mission, make a right into the alley-like street, Natoma. Helmeted construction workers/flaggers will direct you. Turn left into the first building for bargain parking. If you want to try to enjoy the construction, I think the only bet is the construction cam. Everything else about it sucks! http://transbaycenter.org/construction-updates/construction-cameras/mission-camera
