Picture a loooooong flight from JFK. After we land, now we need to get our bags, hail a cab in Italy and after all the hustling we arrived at this beautiful hotel, it was a Godsend. The 47 Boutique hotel doesn't have a grand spacious entrance, there are steps leading up to the lobby. Once inside, it feels like you're nestled in an Italian made quilt. The hotel quickly welcomed us and took care of our check in. I looked and noticed there's an outdoor plaza to the hotel, very European. Once we entered the elevator to our floor, we opened the door to a large spacious room. The hotel gave us a bottle of Italian wine with two glasses, I bought it up to the rooftop restaurant which overlooks Rome, that's in my next review. As an American traveling abroad, I know to bring 110/220 electric converters for our iStuffs. *ladies, the Shark/Dyson hair driers do not work. Sorry. Man do I love a bidet. The room has one to keep my twig & berries clean. Clean everything I say! The bed was very comfortable, no complaints. The bathroom was large and had items Americans aren't used to like towel warmers? Oh so chic. Stepping into the shower was a little tricky with the high tub. Not a big deal in my opinion. Breakfast the next day was fantastic. Every morning I started with a bottle of Pellegrino and a single espresso. The buffet had everything you need for breakfast, it was the highlight for us every morning. After our day was done, we opened a bottle of wine and sat in the courtyard. It was truly magical. If you're looking for an elegant hotel, this is not for you. This is a boutique hotel that's walking distance to all the great spots. We stayed at 47 Boutique Hotel at the end of October 2024 and it was amazing experience! Our room was a beautiful suite on the 4th floor with a wrap-around patio with a fabulous view of the southern view of Rome. Arriving from California on Friday afternoon, we were tired and took advantage of the steam sauna Friday evening. What a treat. The next morning, the (included) breakfast was very nice - with full compliment of eggs, meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, pastries, etc. The location is optimal- we walked a nice morning walk to the colosseum (15mins), and were also 15mins from major shopping areas and right across the river (12mins) from the Jewish Ghetto /Trastevere District. However, the best part was our dinner the day before we left! The rooftop restaurant is really fabulous. We went up for an "easy dinner" closeby and were treated to a full wine-pairing experience by Dario, the sommelier. He was absolutely amazing ! His passion and knowledge for wine and dynamic personality are rare! Thank you for making our stay a memorable one! read more

This hotel is overpriced and awful. I would strongly recommend not staying here. You can get a much better hotel room for the same price or less. We booked months in advanced and reserved a room with a balcony. Our travel agent called twice to confirm a room with a balcony. I emailed them before leaving to confirm. When we arrived, no room with a balcony, and they didn't even care and didn't refund us or offer us anything. Instead they very rudely said we should be happy with the nice room we have. Later they even threaten to sue me if I write bad reviews about my stay. Just insane!! The room was like a Best Western. The TV only had around 3 channels and we couldn't hook up our fire TV stick either and all we wanted to do was relax and chill. When I called to get help to hook the fireTV up to the internet, once again they didn't care and rudely told me to hotspot and use my expensive data. They clearly hated Americans. The Distain was all over their faces. We chatted Rome, France, Spain on this trip and this was the only time we felt anyone treat us badly. Room Cons - The fridge was broken - The sink was broken - hot, air wasn't working - cheap motel 6 breakfast - TV didn't work - horrible internet service - gym/spa is laughable it's so bad - staff is rude to an extreme level Room Pros - location - views The breakfast was like a motel 6 breakfast. For this price it should have been a lot better Overall the staff, the rooms and the service will ensure I never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone. Aleph Rome is so much better for the same cost. Many hotels are way better for even less cost. The room also smelled of smoke and then they accused us of smoking and we have never smoked ever. A really great hotel find in the chaotic, yet marvelous city of Rome! After doing some thorough research, I decided to go with the Fortyseven Hotel and was not disappointed. Upon arriving (super early around noon), the receptionist greeted us, promptly checked us in, said our room was ready, and even gave us a slight upgrade! The staff and service people were all very friendly and helpful the entire stay! The room itself was very nice, big enough for two travelers to comfortably relax in. There's a nice, large closet where you can put your luggage in and even a cool electronic shutter system in the room to make it very dark for those early mornings you want to sleep in. The location of the hotel is great, close to everything you'd want to see: Coliseum, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain (all walking distance = 10-20 mins each way). The Vatican is a little far though, so you'd might want to take a taxi which would cost about $15 Euro. The breakfast each day was ok... not as wonderful as I would have had expected, but still probably better than most places in Rome. It's more of an upgraded version of a typical continental breakfast: a few pastries (croissants), fruits, and cheeses. Nothing to write home about, but it's free and you feel a bit special with the breakfast staff attending to your needs. I wish the WiFi worked better. It was in and out all day and night, never really a strong signal to do work or steam anything. Overall, I had a great time staying here and would recommend it to anyone coming to Rome! 4.5 stars!!! read more

What a fantastic find for our Rome vacation. Hotel 47 was accommodating in every way. Location: located right across the street from the "bocca de la verità." Less than 10 minute walk to Piazza Venezia and the Roman Forum. The staff are all friendly and accommodating. The front desk was very helpful mapping out how to get to our destinations and also gave us great recommendations for dinner. The hotel itself is modern with no amenity skipped. Rooms are luxurious and spacious. You can enjoy a drink on their roof top bar/ restaurant during the day and take in amazing views of Rome.( which i highly recommend). I had one of my best meals of the trip on the rooftop. (Bucatini alla Amatriciana Pasta). Will definitely return when back in Rome! read more

We had an absolutely gorgeous view of the ruins on the 5th floor. It's very conveniently located and the concierge helps call a cab whenever you need. They have a pretty good continental breakfast too for only $15 Euro with an adorable courtyard seating area. This was actually one of the hotels I was very excited about staying in during my several weeks in Italy. It turned out to be the most disappointing. I was excited about the view from the room, spending extra money to have a room on the fifth floor with a balcony. (Just under €1300 for 3 nights). However this came at a cost. We were underneath the bar/restaurant which made an extreme amount of noise from early in the morning until past 1am. I'm not talking about music, or chatter/noise from the guests. I mean constant dragging of tables, banging & slamming things. It almost sounded like there was a free weights gym above us. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was VERY loud. For reference, we were in room 507. When I mentioned this to the hotel reception, they said they would mention it to the restaurant staff to see if they could do something to make less noise (they did not ever make less noise) but she advised us to change our room to a lower floor with NO balcony. We paid for a balcony and chose this Hotel for the balcony with a view (which was a small balcony with a lovely view). If noise is not an issue for you, there were other pros for this hotel. -PROS: The check in was very easy and our room was ready a few hours early. The room was modern, spacious, and very clean. It had an espresso machine which was restocked every day. They did also give complimentary waters daily and a bottle of wine (not sure if the wine is just one of our Expedia VIP perks, though). The bed was a king size, very comfortable, but the pillows were not. Breakfast was included for us and was a good spread of options. We also as Expedia VIP got a complimentary 6 course dinner at the rooftop restaurant. Unfortunately we could not attend due to evening tours, so we cannot rate the rooftop restaurant. One thing I loved was this is an eco friendly hotel. Meaning they wash towels and change linens when easily requested by placing a card on the bed. The toiletries are refillable dispensers and they use high quality spa products here. I did use the gym and it has towels, showers, and plenty of equipment. The best part of everything is location. The hotel is perfectly located between the two sides of the city. Easily accessible to everything with a 15-20 minute walk in every direction. It is right across the River from our favorite neighborhood, Trastevere, which is great for food and drinks or just a nice stroll around a fun neighborhood. -CONS: the noise was the biggest issue for me here and I wouldn't pay for a balcony room because of it. If the prices were lower, I may stay in a lower level room because of the location of the hotel. But the noise I had to deal with at the price I paid for the balcony was simply not worth it. Also, The room had an extremely foul odor for at least half of our stay. The odor was a sewer or wet, moldy smell and it smelt up the entire room. Unsure if it came from the drains or the outside. It usually occurred during the day, so when we would come home at night the room would smell very bad. Being it 10 or 11pm, we were too tired to change rooms to possibly have the same issue in another room on this floor. Lastly, there is no food or room service after 10:30 pm and no food options within a 5 minute walk around the hotel at night. And during the week no food options/lunch at the hotel from 10:30 am to 7pm. So if you get in late or sleep in, food is not an option at the hotel. Lastly, the gym has a lot of equipment but is very crowded. Too much equipment. The bathrooms in the gym were not clean and had no soap to wash your hands. The gym had nothing to wipe down and clean the equipment. read more

Beautiful views!! Someone built this super modern, chic, all white, luxurious hotel elsewhere and dropped it right in the middle of the Forum! Aka the Roman forum! Next to Platin! From outside its just a white building but inside is all swanky and pretty. Stayed here last month for several days before visiting my families there. The views here can't be beat! Love ~ The views!!! Ahmazingggg stunning views!! Like~ the room! My room was so luxuriously comfortable! The bed was amazing! The custom curtains/blinds are stunning and really blocks that Roman sun! A ok ~ breakfast. Most Italian hotels come with breakfast. And this place isn't cheap. For the price that you're paying, breakfast should be a little more better. All they had was mediocre scramble eggs, bread, greasy bacon and a ton of carb heavy cereals and pastries. I would've proffered more fruits , egg, cured meat/ cheese offering. Also, seems pretty cramped! The place was busy after all! I enjoyed my cappuccino and some bread! Dislike ~ the steam/ sauna room! Ok well my fault maybe but still. They have free gym, steam room and saunas down stairs! Mind you, this is a boutique hotel! So it's still pretty small. You can ask front desk to turn the steam on half hour before you go! And off I went! The whole downstairs was steamed up! And the steam room was steamy!! And impossible to see. I enjoyed it for about five minutes before getting my leg burnt!! A second degree burn from accidentally walking by the steam pipe! Because I can't see Jack!! It's all fun and games till someone get burnt! In this case, that one person was me :/ Minus that debacle ( and a massive scar it left on my leg), I enjoy this place! Granted, September is still an expensive time to come to Rome but I've been here countless times. And I know a lot of hotels, apartments and of course my families amazing places! Chose this mainly based on the shows we were going to and also for the close proximity to the Forum. I prefer the via Del corso much better but this was nice. Nice views! Prices should be a little lower for what you get! Service was efficient. They all speak English after all! Nothing too memorable in my books except that view is amazing! We loved the FortySeven - the hotel was very clean with great bathrooms. Very modern rooms with firm beds and blackout shades which was a plus for us. The service was great - the hotel staff is happy to give directions, make recommendations, etc. Breakfast was a good European style buffet with some eggs and bacon as well. Via Petroselli is busy but the auto shades in the room block most of the noise - if you are sensitive, just pop in some earplugs. The bar is cozy - drinks are expensive but are served with cute little snack plates. The hotel is very close to everything - the farthest "sight" is the Vatican at about 1m - we walked there along the river in about 20 minutes. The Forum, Palantine, Capitoline and Collesium are 5-10 minutes away, and Piazza Navona and the Pantheon are 10-15 minutes walk. The hotel is in the middle of the Foro Bario area with many less-visited ruins and churches. San Nicola on Via Petroselli will let you down into the grottos with ruins from 3 temples for a small fee. Wear good shoes - Roma is hard on the feet! For good restaurants, the hotel is just across the river from Trastevre - we liked Pizzerie Ivo, off Piazza S Maria and Pizzerie Marmi on Via Trastevre. We also had great luck eating in the Ghetto on Via Portico Ottavia - it's a real neighborhood with few tourists, at least this time of year. There are also good restaurants on the quiet streets and piazzas north of the Ghetto but south of Campo de Fiori - try the wine bar on Piazza Margana. Overall, a great hotel in a very convenient area for sightseeing - we would stay there again without any hesitation. read more

Ultimate convenience, friendliness and clean, large rooms (even by American standards) make this a winner. This was my first time in Rome so of course we *HAD* to stay somewhere close by to the first-time-to-Rome sights: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, et al. And for those purposes, Fortyseven Hotel was perfect. It's literally right around the corner from the Colosseum, and just a 10-15 minute hike to the Roman Forums. It's on the edge of the River Tiber and you can SEE Trastavere and Isola Tiberina from the upper floors of the hotel. I booked directly at their website and received bus tickets as part of the package; these were useful for taking the 81 bus to the Vatican and that particular line stops literally 50 paces from the front door of the hotel and drop you off at a square in between the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Square. We ate at the Circus Restaurant the first night -- due to a bit of jet lag -- and while it was a bit pricey (completely expected for a hotel restaurant) the view was amazing. Imagine enjoying the sun set on the Eternal City while sipping wine and eating good food. Then book yourself a room here and you won't have to imagine. The "American" breakfast was downstairs and again included with our particular package, otherwise it's like 29 Euro per person, per day. They had a good selection of hot foods like scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and cold foods like cold cuts, mozzarella on tomatoes, various cereals and breads, juices and coffee or tea. Great way to fuel up before doing the touristy stuff. The gym is small but satisfactory with 2 treadmills -- 1 was out of commission when we were there --, some Cybex-type weight machines for upper body, a seated leg press, selection of dumb bell free weights, and flat bench with plates totaling up to about 100 kgs. The minor things, like 2 elevators in the relatively small hotel, a nice courtyard downstairs, housekeeping with nightly turn-down, external Roman shades (to block out the noise and light) ALONGSIDE blackout shades, all contributed to a really nice stay and a way to escape the constant noise of traffic going over the cobblestoned streets outside. We had an early, 5AM checkout so the front-desk arranged for a taxi to Fiumicino for 45E (instead of the 40E), AND put together 2 bags with water, juice and packaged breads so that we would have a bit of breakfast! That was a very nice touch. I would recommend emailing them directly as they may have packages like ours that include the breakfast, BIT bus tickets, and wifi access, all for a cost comparable to Expedia/Hotels.com/Orbitz. Be warned that it's a little more archaic for hotels in general, especially in Europe, so you may have to email your actual credit card details to reserve the package. I picked a credit card I never use so that I could monitor any fraudulent activity and then switched to my rewards credit card on check-out. We also chose the Deluxe room which was a little bit larger and allowed us to spread out. Try to request a room on the higher floors - 4th is probably as high up as you can go with a standard or deluxe room as I think 5th is all the "suites and the 6th floor is the restaurant. read more

The only bad thing I can say about the 47 is that the shower soap has the consistency of elmers glue. Spent 10 days in room 509 (larger room). To actually have king size pillows on a king sized bed was worth the price. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on (100+ hotel nights a yr experience) and the AC, even in Nov., worked well to lower the humidity. When looking at hotels and locations, consider that the farthest you will likely walk in one direction is ~ 2 miles (considering the core "tourist area"). Most of that can be covered by bus (81 - stop is 50 ft away from hotel) or the Metro quite easily from wherever you say. One of the complains I had read about this hotel was lack of restaurants nearby. Yes, that is true if you consider ~200 yards nearby. The Jewish getto is ~ 250 yrds away (~10 options) and Trasterverde (30+ options) are only double that (~10 minutes to walk) - so don't let that scare you away. The walk will do you good in wearing the pasta off... We did eat at the restaurant on the roof as well - actually had some of the better food of the trip up there. Staff was very willing to help out with anything we needed. Breakfast was good with typical Continental choices + eggs/bacon/sausage. Free wifi, Lots of tv (only a few in English though). Overall, I was completely satisfied with my choice - made with the recommendations of the reviews out here! read more

I try to review every hotel I stay in, and for the first time, I'm really torn about what to say. We spent a week in Tuscany with a night in Rome on each end. Our first night was at Hotel Piccolo Maison and our last night, our splurge night, was at the Forty Seven. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday. A bellman greeted us on the street and helped get our bags out of the cab. But our reception in the hotel was pretty frosty. We weren't greeted, heck, we were barely acknowledged at all. Our bags disappeared somewhere and we just stood there while both women in the reception ignored us. Finally, one of them lifted her head towards me. I said I had a reservation and she quickly told me that check in is at 2pm. I really wanted to freshen up before our lunch reservation, but oh well, that's how it goes. She did agree to confirm my lunch reservation which was good because I'd forgotten the time. She pointed us to the restrooms where we changed our clothes before hitting the streets. We returned after lunch and received keys to the room. No explanation of amenities, no information about the hotel bar and restaurant. (Many of the nicer hotels in Rome have spectacular roof decks where the restaurant is located). Nothing. She couldn't get rid of us fast enough. The room, however, was really nice and quite large by European standards. Wood floors, nice bathroom with great amenities and a large window overlooking a courtyard and part of the street. We were on a low floor, but the window was well insulated and we didn't hear a thing when it was closed. The hotel information book seemed sorely out of date (as well as being quite dirty with stained pages). We decided to check out the turkish bath in the gym, but it appeared to be broken or out of service. Then we decided to find the bar and have a drink, only to be told it was closed for a private event. Now I understand that things like that happen, but it really sucked to be shut out of a large part of the hotel. I think the least they could have done was offer an alternative to guests who were not part of this private event...maybe a free drink in the (much less appealing) first floor area? Something that showed they appreciated their (other) guests and realized that they were being inconvenienced!! The room was nice, but the service was not friendly at all. Both internet terminals in the lounge were offline and you'd think I asked for the moon the way the receptionist responded when I asked for the wifi code (and the hotel advertises free wifi in the public areas). Was it worth almost $400 to stay here for less than 24 hours? No. read more

It seemed like a lot given the fact it was not peak season, the rooftop patio was closed, and there was a lot of construction going on during our stay. Walls are kind of thin too. This hotel is quite simply a life saver. Stayed here many times over the summer - once with a million bags I needed to store for a couple of days and once with a broken leg. The staff acted as if it was all totally normal and treated me with such respect and kindness. The hotel is fresh and fun - the restaurant upstairs is one of the nicest locations in all of Rome. The beds are comfy and bathrooms spacious and clean. Overall cannot say enough good things about this hotel. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. read more

Great staff, who are very helpful, nice, and attentive. Really great included breakfast with good fruits and meats. Great location, although you end up walking the same routes a lot. Nice rooftop bar too. The room was nice with the only downside of a somewhat complicated electricity system that shuts off when the room key is removed. One american socket was a nice touch. The Forty Seven was a welcome oasis right in the heart of Rome. Walkable to the Pantheon and Forum. We would just leave the hotel on a rambling walk and run across ruins excavated and "left there", the "not famous ones". That's the great thing about this location! read more

Cute hotel with attentive service, located near the Piazza della Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth). Spent a few days here while in Rome. The hotel was clean. The hotel bar had great roof top views. The included breakfast buffet was pretty nice in comparison to what you generally get for free in Italy/France/Spain. The front desk was happy to help us make dinner reservations and catch a cab to the airport. They also packed us a breakfast box when we had an early morning flight. Really cool to be staying near all of the ruins. Easy walk across the Tiber River for the restaurants in the Trastevere. read more

We had a very nice stay here at Fortyseven. The rooms are very well-decorated and the staff was especially helpful. The breakfast was good and the location is fine. We had a problem with our room and they took care of us immediately by moving us and giving us a nice note and a bottle of wine for our trouble. My family & I recently stayed for 3 days in May at the Hotel Fortyseven in Rome at the time of our 45th Wedding Anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by such friendly staff that couldn't do enough to make our stay as wonderful as possible. LOCATION & STAFF, it doesn't get much better than this! Our rooms were absolutely beautiful, clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful & beautifully displayed with a wide variety of choices. On the night of our wedding anniversary on May 16th, we had dinner at their truly gorgeous roof-top restaurant. Talk about having Rome at your feet! The entire wait-staff was fantastic and there was so much to choose from on their dinner menu. The chef personally brought out a beautiful anniversary cake for us which topped off our evening! We would most definitely return to Hotel FortySeven on our next trip to Rome & highly recommend this fine place to anyone looking for an exceptional hotel experience, well within walking distance to the center of ancient Rome! I JUST came back from an amazing trip all throughout Italy with my family. Rome was stop #1 and FortySeven was recommended by my travel agent. The hotel was adorable and the LOCATION could not get any better- steps away from everything. The staff all try really hard at the hotel to make your stay a memorable one (shout out to Massimo!!). It was my parents 45th anniversary and they sent this artwork worthy dessert to our table. It was so wonderful. If you've never been to Italy you may not know that breakfast is not a big deal there- it's basically a chocolate croissant, espresso and you're done. Americans look for a solid breakfast. What was so refreshing is this hotel actually offers one every morning.- keep in mind it has a bit of an Italian twist on on it, lol, BUT you can get your eggs, juice, bread and the most amazing american coffee (if you prefer it over a delicious cappuccino).
