I couldn't possibly be more happy with 495 Home Services. My first experience with this company was a few weeks ago for the installation of a flat screen TV for my company. Alex was fast, efficient and cleaned up after his work leaving me a spotless room and a perfectly mounted TV. After such great service, I hired 495 Home Services a second time to hang a giant banner on the side of my company's building. There were a few structural challenges with mounting the banner, and Alex and Julio troubleshooted every issue that came up and within a couple hours had this banner mounted securely, perfectly centered and level. (And on the hottest and most miserably humid day of the summer, they did it with smiles on their faces.) After the banner I had one more job for 495 Home Services. Very impressed with this company. Most companies you will call them and they can't come out for another 2 weeks plus. However after reading multiple Yelp reviews and sending a private message to a customer and receiving her feedback, I decided to call the company to get an estimate on some projects. Alex immediately emailed me to confirm a day to conduct the estimation and also provided his cellphone number, by texting me. Alex and his staff were very professional and I am super happy with the outcome. I wanted to surprise my parents with renovating their home and I told Alex the timeline. He worked with me to ensure that everything would be completed on time. He is also very knowledgeable, so if you are unsure as to how something would look etc, he will give you an honest opinion. I also felt comfortable working with him because he was easy to get in contact with and very trustworthy. Several projects his team worked on (i've attached pictures) included building a small roof with shingles for the patio area, organizing/ boxing/ moving items into a storage area, landscaping, installing blinds, power washing etc. I would definitely recommend this company since it is quite difficult to find people who you can trust and will work closely with you within budget to accomplish your goals. read more

I ordered a ladder shelf, the bookshelves that lean against the wall like a ladder, that arrived at my office in a flat pack with a gazillion pieces and parts and wooden dowels and camlocks and directions that made my head hurt. Rather than torture myself by putting it together, I decided to save my sanity and time and instead, hire a handyman to come to my office and assemble it. Based on yelp reviews, I called 495 Services today before lunch and spoke with Nate. Since other reviewers had nice things to say about Alex, I asked if Alex was available. Long story a bit shorter, Nate said Alex could come TODAY at 3 PM. Who does same-day appointments anymore?? It gets better -- Alex arrived at my office at 3 PM today. On. The. Dot. He looked at the gazillion pieces, he looked at the directions, and said he should be done in about 20-30 minutes. And of course he was done by then. He cleaned up all the little plastic wrapping and the Styrofoam bits. His smart phone takes credit cards, and I received the receipt via email. Same day service with a smile. Competent. Punctual. Personable. Professional. Reasonably priced. Sound too good to be true? Next time you have a project you don't want to tackle yourself, call 495 Services, speak to Nate, ask for Alex, and find the truth for yourself. read more

They called after being a half hour late and let me know he didn't yet have the materials needed for the job (that we spoke about in our first call), so it would take another hour to go and buy them. between being unprepared, late and not picking up the office phone when I attempted to call when they were already 20 minutes late, I just think there is a high level of disorganization and unprofessionalism. I wouldn't recommend this company. A person assigned to my project cam in late by 2 hours - he did give me a call beforehand but right on the time I was actually expecting him. It took him 3 hours to assembly one dresser and one small baby book shelf plus screwing legs to one chair. They charge an arm and leg too. In comparison, I hired another company to finish my projects and took them twice less time for similar size job. Please shop around before your make your decision. read more

Alex's team were simply fantastic. We were preparing our home for sale and had a broad assortment of tasks to manage. This included replacing rotted wood, painting, replacing dry wall, fixing leaks in windows, inside and outside painting, landscaping, powerwashing house and decks, trim work, he even got the racoon out of the attic- what a time to have a racoon take up residence. The house is in DC and we are mostly in CA. I developed such trust in his services, I would just call him from CA - give him another list amd send payment. Really first rate work. Alex is a very capable handyman that got the job done well. We had a window whose bottom wooden frame was rotting. Alex replaced the wood, caulked it, and painted it to a high standard. He also patched a ceiling crack in the bathroom. He charges a minimum of two hours, even if your project will take less time than that: your job has to be worth the time for them to come out to your house. So have some extra jobs ready if the original job will take less than two hours. There were some problems. He said that he would bring an additional handyman with him, which costs $10/hour extra. He justified this by saying that, as he was getting the job done at the house, his partner could go to the hardware store to buy the supplies needed. When he came to do the job, he did not bring an additional handyman. Alex still had to go to the hardware store as anticipated, so he took extra time to do the job. He also took that time to buy other supplies for other jobs. We thought this was not appropriate: we are paying for his time to do our job, not other jobs. He did not charge us for two handyman, only one. Overall, he got the jobs done, even if it took longer, and did not charge for the extra time. Good job overall. read more

I'm not typically one to publicly post disparaging remarks about people or companies, but I feel compelled to warn anyone who may be considering 495 for any projects. I don't want anyone else to be cheated out of their hard earned money the way I was. Reading all of these other reviews I can hardly believe they hired the same company I had the misfortune of working with... but indeed 495 was a nightmare to do business with. I made the mistake of hiring them for a move-out cleaning plus any basic touch ups that the house would need in order to be put on the market. Walking through the house after they supposedly did two days worth of work, it looked almost as if the place hadn't even been touched. Yes, some painting had been done as requested, but otherwise I have no idea what $4,000 of services went into. Something as simple removing nails and studs from the walls wasn't even done. The fireplace still had ashes in it. The surfaces were completely filthy, coming up with tons of dirt when I ran a cloth over them. They claimed to have vacuumed and shampooed the carpets, yet there were still insects and very visible fuzz all along the edges. I asked for landscaping to make the yard look presentable - they left roots and skeletons of old plants sticking out of the ground. They painted over an outlet, which will be an issue during a home inspection and needs to be replaced. Awful, just awful. And these are only a few examples of the shoddy work done there. When I contacted the company with my concerns, Nate offered either a 15% discount or that they could go back and do the work again. I was trying to get my house on the market as soon as possible, didn't have the luxury of time, and had no confidence that they would do any better of a job if they were to return. And 15% refunded for an almost $4,000 job that was barely done at all hardly seems fair to me. It's criminal, in fact. I honestly feel like I would have been better off flushing my money straight down the toilet. Save your money and use someone else. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would have. Don't use them. They promise more than they deliver and the quality of their work is absolutely horrific (painting, handyman projects, house cleaning and landscaping). We used them to help get our house ready for sale and we were royally ripped off. We regret our decision to use their services and will now have to pay another contractor to redo what 495 charged us a small fortune to do. Alex was great to work with all around. We contacted a few handyman companies, and no one else was willing to add us to their schedule in less than two weeks even though the work needed to be done immediately. Alex added us into his schedule within one week. The first visit he inspected the room, and gave us a full estimate including materials and labor, that was within our budget. The day before the work started he confirmed with us the project and time of arrival... and he was on time the next morning! He communicated to us through the whole process, even sending us pictures when he was finished of stages of the project from start to finish to make sure everything looked OK prior to leaving the premises. Within two days he was able to completely redo the flooring in a bedroom and closet: demo-ing the original floor, putting hardwood in the closet and carpet in the bedroom (padding & all). Additionally he painted the closet and replaced the closet doors at a fraction of the cost another company would have charged. The final project fit his original estimate exactly, and we received final invoices and receipts promptly. His work and customer service were excellent. We would absolutely recommend his services to anyone in the area. read more

The basement in the home I just bought was finished very poorly and it needed to be gutted so I could get some work completed on my electrical and prepare to refinish it properly. I hired 495 Home Services to do the demolition and I couldn't be happier. The price was fair, the work was completed in one day, the guys were polite and friendly, and most importantly my basement is clean. Alex returned my call within 1 hour and gave me an estimate on the same day. Julio, Francisco and Alex spent two days at my house doing a variety of projects: plumbing, electrical, fence repair, carpentry, TV mounting. These people are really awesome. They removed two satellite dish antennas from my roof and I noticed that 2 of the roof shingles were moved. Luis came back and fixed them, free of charge, even though it turned out it was not their fault. Great customer service and very reasonable prices. read more

I called the guys to fix 8 holes in my kitchen ceiling from a previous leak. I called on Thursday they were out the following Monday and had the job done in 2 hours. The drywall repairs look perfect with minimal follow up sanding being needed. Reasonable priced, on time, and courteous. Terrific service. I called about installing some dog doors and got a return call within an hour, set up an appointment for the next day. They arrived when they said they would and started work on the dog doors. Meanwhile our kitchen sink had clogged, so we asked if they could look at that as well. It turned out to be a massive job, a clog about 35 feet from the drain! They had to go back to their facility for longer and better snakes a couple of times, but persistence won out in the end. It was terrific that they took the time to deal with an extra problem without us needed to set up another appointment. I will definitely call them again. read more

Alex and team arrived on time (amazing!) to do many small "fix it" projects in our home. They were polite and more than capable to tackle each task, from ceiling repair to light fixture installations, door frame repair to window screen replacement. Upon their arrival, we even threw in that we needed our sump pump replaced, no questions asked & it was done. Within less than the time frame scheduled, they even trimmed trees away from our house.
