Visited 5 Star Nails today to get my nails done for the first time in years. The design wasn't quite what I asked for (pics attached) and the nails don't really feel like they'll hold up, but I'm interested to see if they do. My boyfriend got the deluxe pedicure and said it was great for the price. customer service was great they are very nice and offered me water. as far as my nails.... horrible. I showed them a picture of what I wanted just a solid color pink w pink polka dots in a different color. the guy who did my nails had to keep asking Mike (the owner I believe ) how to do my nails. on top of that I had very long beautiful natural nails and asked for them just to be shaped and he cut them all down. now it is my fault for not speaking up which I need to work on but why tf do they have a man who doesn't know how to do nails doing nails lol. first time ever getting a design and I'm now traumatized and have to go to florida w horrible nails and I can't in my heart show my face in there again cause again I'm too kind and it was my fault for not speaking up. but also crazy how bad my nails turned out. Wish I could give 0 stars. Went in to have gel removed from my toes, regular paint applied, & a gel manicure. Who did my toes first, did a poor job. Paint was streaky, chunky, not painted to the cuticle. I asked who was doing my nails to just take it off. He insisted he repaint them- he did multiple coats & said it wasn't enough. I asked if it was the paint, giving the benefit of the doubt, & if I needed a different color? He said no. Went back to do my nails & he rushed. My nails hurt, multiple were bleeding, all different shapes. There is paint all over my skin. He then took the paint off my big toe to re do it for the third time. After 2.5 almost 3 hours, I couldn't stand to be here another minute so I left with my big toe unpainted. He then offered me the paint bottle & charged me full price. Best experience I've ever had. I called several places today, looking for a walk-in mani/pedi and every place was either closed or booked. I called 5 and they accepted walk ins. I showed up 5 min later and they were quietly busy. Every chair was occupied and I ended up waiting 20 min for a chair to free up. So pro tip: if you're hoping for a walk-in appt, give yourself 30 min of wiggle room. I haven't had a pedicure since I was pregnant with my son and he's about to turn 4! and this place brought back some serious sense memory. They're Korean and female run. The staff was quiet and pleasant. The woman who did my nails was the same age as my mother and had a familiar graceful demeanor. The whole experience reminded me of my 20s when I used to get my nails done bi-weekly at this Korean family owned salon in Bethesda, MD. The service was some over due mental/emotional self care and I will make it a point to come back once a month so I can feel like I'm 20 again. Another tip: tip in cash and pay before you get your nails done so you don't run the risk of scuffing your fresh paint. read more

I asked for square oval which is just a little curved which that part was fine, but she cut my left hand super short and my right hand super long. I have been here at least 15 times for both manicures and pedicures and have had a variety of different nail techs and have never been disappointed. I originally got acrylic almond shape with gel polish and then came back to refill them (only because I couldn't get in anywhere else). The nails themselves were fine the first time and much better the second, however BOTH times the different techs made me bleed with the drill. Also when I got them refilled I think she drilled my nail bed too hard because a couple of my nails won't stop hurting. amazing place to go to for simple nails for an affordable price. this used to be my normal nail salon but they don't do many designs/well at designs so i started to go to Tipton Nails (which is HIGHLY expensive). however, my sister and i returned there today and got our nails done. i got pink nudes and got them in matte and my sister got a deep wine red with a silver line design on the ring fingers. i recommend NOT going the cheap route and definitely get Gel. i got regular polish and kept ruining my nails. the lady who did then was sweet but then started to get rude, probably due to them overbooking themselves. there's 4 nails of mine that are ruined but i only brought up one to her to fix. then it got ruined again. i didn't want to deal with the attitude so i didn't say anything. only spend $28 for a regular fill, matte and a new nail put on. read more

So I went in today to get a full set. Everything was fine until the lady started getting super aggressive with what she was doing and it seriously freakin hurt. Then she preceded to tell me "don't move! you talk to much, you move to much" I was out with friends obviously then my friend was like hey is it okay if I get some of that water and she was so rude she just barley mumbled didn't even look up at her. It was like she kept saying mean ass things but while whispering so I didn't know what to do. They aren't the BEST, but they're affordable. They're not the best at following instructions, but when they do, they do well,, but they're not very polite. They always act too busy to help you or give you their full attention Once you get them though, they're pretty good. But don't DARE to show up on a busy day, or you won't get helped for at least half an hour. There have been people that come in, wait an hour, and then just leave because they haven't been helped. The ladies will tell you to pick a colour, and then ignore you. They're short and impolite with my grandmother, and I do NOT appreciate that. Good for a quick trip, though. I went in to get dip powder. I sat down and she started soaking off my old powder and told me to pick a color. They only had 12 colors of dip powder to choose from. Had I known this before they started I would've gone some where else. They didn't even have samples so i couldn't really tell what the colors looked like done. I have gotten dip powder for several months and the lady did not follow the same steps as other places I've gotten them done at. She filed my nails unevenly and several are slanted. I left and went home and just could not stand the way they looked after paying $38. I called and they said I had to come back in. I went back in and the lady argued with me while the guy working their said they looked back and he would fix them. It took over 45 minutes to soak them off because she put it on so thick. Their gel polish is really nice , new and you can tell they take the time to clean out the polishes onces they get old and aren't in good condition. The guy rushed and my nails are not even, are shaped correctly, and I still have polish on the sides of my nails from the last time I got my nails done. I wish I could give it 0 stars. I would have been perfectly fine if it had just been costumer service issues because everyone has bad days but my nails came out looking like the rocky mountains. I had random dips in the acrylics and bumps and the shape is not coffin on some nails. The lady was rude and never spoke to me but did think it was okay to cut my fingers without saying a thing abt it while filing my nails. She also yanked my arms and smacked my hands multiple times not even trying to kindly ask me to move. I tried to tip good halfway through so she would do better and fix what she had messed up on. Will not go back! I normally go to focus nails! And today I decided to go here. I walked in and asked for a manicure just like I do at focus and they asked if I wanted the gel paint and I told them yes well I sit down and the lady was VERY RUDE. She started to prep my nails and she never asked about the acrylic like they do at focus so before she got to far I said ma'am are you gonna do the acrylic and she started flipping out telling me you said manicure and I very apologetic kept saying i'm sorry I normally go somewhere else and when I say manicure that's what it is and she started huffing and puffing and didn't talk to me the whole time, and when she wanted me to put my hand down or next hand she would just slap it rudely and never said a word. And even seemed like she was rushing through it. Leaving paint on my skin around my fingers. After this I was thinking in my head the whole time i'm never coming back. Well I get to the register to pay and she charged me $45!!!!!! That's without the tip! Then 2 people I have talked to said they only paid $26 I didn't get anything extra no design nothing!
