Michael is a nasty, nasty vile SOB. My general contractor almost punched him out because of his attitude.   I wanted to punch his teeth out bc of his attitude, but I have self control.  My entire interaction with him was recorded, so if you want to judge for yourself before you spend thousands of dollars and hire him, Ill send you the recordings.  You'll hear his distinctive and unmistakable voice on the other end.  I was smart enough to record when I confronted him because you will notice that he makes a habit of responding to other negative reviews by claiming that he has no idea who the reviewer is and never worked for such a person.  So, please, dont hesitate to bother me for the recordings if youre on the fence about him because it will be my greatest pleasure to have this guy's very own words destroy his opportunity to get future work.  Once you hear his vile attitude, you will know you dont want any part of him.  Michael was hired to enlarge my single-file driveway at 361 Broadway Lawrence, NY.  The purpose of the extension was to build a larger paved area at the end of the driveway so we could have space to turn the car around and drive out head first (instead of backing out) onto our impossibly busy street.  Michael installed an asphalt extension even though he for sure knew, because he is the asphalt expert, that asphalt was the COMPLETELY WRONG surface for the project.  As Michael instructed, we waited 7 full days to let the asphalt cure after he initially laid it.  But after a few days of use, 20 or so deep fissures developed in the asphalt. So I called in 3 other blacktop companies to independently assess his work.  They all said that no asphalt-only company in their right mind would ever accept such a job because concrete or pavers were the only surfaces durable enough to handle sharp wheel turns while the car is stationary.  These sharp wheel turns are necessary to pivot the cars into position  because the extension is only 15 feet wide.   When I confronted Michael and told him I demand a total and complete refund, he told me that he warned us not to drive on the extension for FOUR MONTHS.  Um does anyone think 7 days could ever be confused with 4 months?  And do you think anyone would spend thousands of dollars to build a driveway that couldnt be used for nearly half a year?  Obviously, Michael never ever issued such a warning because no person in their right mind would do this.   Michael will say anything to get the job and make a quick buck.   When things go awry, he will lie,shirk responsibility and fail to stand behind his work.  Hiring him should be a hard NO. read more

Update - 9.13.20 Two days after posting my review, the owner Tom showed up at my house unannounced on a Sunday morning. I was watering my grass in the backyard, looked up, and he was standing on my property in front of me. Like, wtf - I was so thrown off! Me: Tom, what are you doing here?? Tom: Amber, I read your review - why didn't you tell me you were unhappy with the work? You should've said something. I would've come back and fixed it if I knew you were unhappy. I explained to him my frustrations and why I was uncomfortable following up with him, and then I even apologized for not calling him first to give him the opportunity to correct things before I decided to post a Yelp review. He said, "Amber, don't worry. I'm gonna send one of my guys over this week to clean up all the glue and fill in the spacing/holes/cracks that are in the stone" Me: Thanks Tom, I appreciate it, and I'm sorry again for not calling you first, but you also can't be popping up at my house like this unannounced. Him: Amber, I just called you this morning and you didn't pick up. Me: I don't have my phone on me, I'm watering the grass! When I checked my phone later, I saw that he had called twice back to back just a few moments before he appeared in my backyard, which means he was sitting in front of my house already when he called, smh. Conclusion: It's been two weeks and I haven't heard from him since. He never came back, never called, and he never sent a worker to come and make things right. It was all just talk. Clearly he just wanted to confront me about my Yelp review. Tom, if you're reading this - please don't pop up at my house again unannounced. If so, my husband will be waiting. UPDATE! My husband and I have just returned from a long day of worship on our sabbath and we received a call at 9:40pm from an IRATE Tom from 5 Star Paving about my initial review. He is angry because I posted the review that he says will destroy his business. Tom did not need our review to destroy his business. He single-handedly destroyed this business relationship and our job. When prompted by my husband, he could not mention one thing I wrote in the review that was incorrect or not factual. During the call, he quit the job he botched, rescinded the warranty for the work and told us to sue him. Mike from 5 Star Paving and Masnory was supposed to give us pavers that we had paid for, for a job that he had messed up. We exchanged a number of text messages where he promised to deliver the paid for pavers. He then went to ground. We tried to send him a letter with a Return Receipt Requested to the address on the contract in Deer Parkand it came back Attempted Not Known. The address is a privare house in Deer Park and the Hicksville address is an office building and they are not listed as a tenant. Mike has developed a good way to disapear and not live up to his promises and his companies obligations. Tony M. read more

There has been lots of rainfall sine installation in July, 2018 and all the water drains to the street through the expert installation and grading of my patio and driveway.
