We also had someone on the roof to install a vent for a water heater and he noted severe rotting under our three dormers that should have been taken care of with the roof. We ended up fixing these ourselves. No, I wouldn't recommend them because they didn't complete the job to our satisfaction. Does anyone care about giving the customer good service anymore?

Edit after comment from owner: The owner's response contains accusations that I strongly dispute. My roof was completely replaced about one year before this inspection and is still under warranty. The paint he refers to was part of normal exterior maintenance performed several years earlier, not an attempt to conceal roof damage. I also obtained an independent roofing inspection after this report. That roofer concluded that my one-year-old Class 4 roof was in good condition and did not require full replacement. The inspector also found that the metal roof components were not damaged, which is inconsistent with the recommendation to replace the entire roof due to hail damage. My concern with this report is that it contained serious accusations about the homeowner and presented a dramatically different assessment from the independent inspection I later obtained. I encourage anyone facing an expensive roof replacement recommendation to avoid this contractor. We had a great experience using Lon Smith to replace our roof after a hail storm. We initially had…read moreanother company come out and look at our roof and once we filed our claim they would not provide us with a quote unless we told them how much the insurance company was going to give us. I thought this was very shady and decided to try another roofing company "Lon Smith" that was recommended by a friend. Trent came out for the initial inspection of the roof and he spent a solid hour to write everything up to make sure it was all documented. Once the insurance company came out and told us how much they would pay for the roof replacement, Lon Smith worked on my behalf to negotiating with the insurance company on why the replacement of the roof was more then originally quoted by the insurance company. It was nice to not have to do this part on my own. Trent did let us know that our roof did not have adequate ventilation according to today's standards/code. At no cost to us, they installed more ventilation and also upgrade the previous ventilation that was used. The actual replacement of the roof went as well as I would think a roof replacement could go. They showed up right on time in the morning, and began bright and early. I went to work, while my wife stayed home during the installation, and by the time I returned from work at 5 they were completely done. They did a wonderful job laying out tarps to catch nails and debris. They also performed a thorough cleanup. One thing that separated Lon Smith from the rest besides everything that I previously mentioned was, they have an employee come by a few days later to inspect the work that was completed to make sure everything was installed correctly. They also asked if we had any concerns, which we mentioned a few minor things like we could see some finger prints on the siding of the house, which he took care of. So to sum it up, I would say it was a pleasure to work with Lon Smith, and they really did a great job on our roof.

I couldn't be more pleased with his professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile. I chose Superior One even though their estimate was higher than others. I preferred the roofing material brand and available color options. He even climbed up to the roof and placed the sample shingles down so that I was better able to see how it would actually look. He made sure the scheduling of different crews went smoothly and he came by every day to check on the progress which included the old gutter and roof removal, new roof and gutter installation, and even the power-washing and staining of my privacy fence.
