    Dessert by Jonathan Byrd's Catering

I recently attended a conference at 502 East. For Carmel-ites, this used to be The Fountains, and it's gotten quite the upgrade. Signs in the spacious lobby pointed me to the correct ballroom. The room was conducive for presentations, with round tables set up in half moons so no guest had to awkwardly twist around in their chair to see. The lunch provided by Jonathan Byrd's Catering was top notch (build your own Asian noodle salad along with trio of dessert options). My complaints are that the room was FREEZING (to the point that in the afternoon it was really bothersome) and the lack of natural light/windows in this particular ballroom. When I'm inside a room for a conference all day, I prefer (if possible) to see the light of day - which I know isn't always feasible with different arrangements. Other than that, I thought 502 was a solid venue.

Nice venue! Big rooms with plenty of parking. Clean and I like that it's not so big that you can't find your way

There were a lot of people in the event center, but it didn't feel obscenely crowded.

There is a lot of natural light which is nice. I think the space may have been sectioned off so I couldn't quite get a sense of the entire venue. It's pretty from what I did see and a nice place to host an event.

In case you're like me and didn't even know this place existed until you visited it: This is an event venue located in central Carmel, right off Keystone Parkway. I visited this venue for a community Iftar, which is a Muslim fast-breaking meal during Ramadan. I'm not Muslim, but I love learning about other people's cultures and beliefs, so when I was invited to attend this special meal, I was excited. Yay for delicious Middle Eastern food in a beautiful space! The event was amazing, and even though there were a lot of people in the room, it didn't feel crowded at all because there were lots of windows bringing in natural light, and lots of space to move around. I kept looking around and thinking how lovely the space was, with the twinkle lights on the ceiling and the long wooden tables. As a guest, I thought Bash was a great space to have a big event. There was lots of parking, too, which is always good.

    Coxhall Mansion - The Mansion

It's probably not surprising that Coxhall Mansion is within the Coxhall Gardens location in Carmel…read more Both are event venues exclusive to Ritz Charles, though they fall under the Hamilton County Parks leadership. I stumbled across it today while out driving around and waiting for an event I was attending. The mansion is a historic mansion that was inspired by the Governor's Mansion in Williamsburg, VA. It has multiple options for several events and has been updated by Hamilton County Parks. From the looks of things, those updates continue to be implemented. As a historic mansion, accessibility isn't perfect. Things have been made as accessible as possible - Hamilton County, in general, tries to do that. Event space on the main floor has space for 80 people for a sit-down event. If the patio is included, you could have 100 sit-down or 120 standing. There's also a third-floor music room that has space for 40 sit-down. If you need a larger space, Coxhall Gardens has several other options including an amphitheatre. It's super weird to think that this was a home. The land started with the John Williams family (No, not the Star Wars composer). They were early Hamilton County settlers and moved here in 1855. 10 years later, they built the Victorian home that still stands. Bricks were even made on-site. In 1958, a 40-year-old Jesse Cox and his wife would make a bid on the property - it was initially denied, however, a year later the property was still for sale. Finally, they were able to acquire it. In 1999, they donated it to Hamilton County Parks. Due to its historic nature, the mansion is often viewed separately from the rest of the gardens. This entire complex is pretty mesmerizing, however, Carmel has a long history of weaving together luxury, history, and practicality and this mansion is a great example.
