I'm disappointed with my experience at this salon due to poor communication and pricing practices. I had an appointment scheduled with Rachel, but she canceled just a few hours before my appointment time. To her credit, she was able to arrange for another stylist, Erik to take the appointment so I would not have to reschedule. She even booked the replacement appointment on my behalf. Before the appointment, I specifically asked Rachel to have the new stylist honor the price she had quoted me. She assured me that she would pass along that information to the new stylist. When it came time to pay, I was shocked to learn that Erik charged approximately 40% more than the original quoted price. At no point before or during the appointment was I informed that his pricing was different, despite my explicit request that the original quote be honored. Had I been told upfront about the higher price, I could have made an informed decision before proceeding. Instead, I only found out after the service was completed and payment was due. The lack of transparency regarding pricing left me feeling misled and frustrated. I understand that different stylists may have different rates, but clear communication about pricing changes is essential, especially when an appointment is reassigned by the salon at the last minute. I rarely leave reviews, but I have to for this! I had an appointment with Viki at 6:30 PM, which was the earliest time available, and I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, the experience was disappointing. Viki was on her phone when I walked in and barely acknowledged me. Before the appointment, I had texted her pictures of my hair along with several Pinterest inspiration photos, but when I showed them again in person, she acted as if she had never seen them. Even though she said she could do what I wanted, her attitude was dismissive and negative throughout. She made it seem like she was doing me a favor by taking the appointment, even though that was the time her boss had scheduled. Her tone and demeanor made the entire experience uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving before the service even started. I left feeling deflated and doubting what I had originally wanted to do with my hair. It was clear she did not want to work that evening, but if that was the case, a quick text or reschedule would have saved us both time. On a positive note, when I called her boss afterward, she was very kind, apologetic, and understanding. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing encounter, especially considering how many great stylists there are in the South Bay. Try someone else at the salon who has a better attitude. read more

Been here a handful of times and Rachel D and Caitlin were great. Made an appointment and nobody was available so Stacey did my hair. I needed a root touch up for some stubborn greys and a blowout, which I scheduled. She missed all my greys, didn't give me a blowout and wouldn't explain why, and gave me a leave treatment on the house which broke me out in painful hives (I am not allergic to ANYTHING). I was on the plane to Europe with hives all over me, and only after I fully washed out everything she put on me, did it go away. The owner refunded me but wouldn't even give a discounted or free next visit, so I told her I would not be coming back. This was genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hair salon. read more

Was referred to this place by a friend of mine and was very disappointed by their work. I paid about $320 for what I believe was highlights, when I had asked for more of a balayage. I wanted dark hair with some, still dark, honey like brown colored accents. When I left the salon it was lighter than what I had asked for, which I was ok with because it didn't look too bad BUT after the FIRST wash my hair turned completely yellow! The placing of the highlights & the color was just so blatantly off! The picture I posted says and explains everything. I did reach out to the salon a couple weeks later when I couldn't stand looking at myself in the mirror and they did offer to gloss it over so I came back and my hair was glossed (aka toned/dyed to a darker color), again not what I wanted but I figured it was better than yellow and I just wanted to move on with my life! But, as many of you ladies know, our hair isn't JUST HAIR, ITS EVERYTHING! My hair is now so so damaged and I had requested a partial refund from my bank to at least use some of the money toward trimming my hair and trying to repair the damage but it was denied. I'll just have to spend even more money. Also, aside from my hair turning out badly, my sister and I had booked appts the same date and time to be able to spend time together since we live far from each other, and her stylist ended up never showing up. My sister ended up waiting for hours with me wasting time. I understand that things happen, I've called off my job before, no biggie, but what didn't sit well with us was the lies we were told. One worker told us she was on her way and was just running late and asked my sister to hang tight. Then after some time the other worker told us she woke up sick and was throwing up and wasn't going to be able to make it in today? So she was on her way here or did she wake up sick? When they realized they had different versions of a story they looked like deer caught in headlights and one of them tried to retract what she said. It would have been fine to just know the truth so my sister could have left and picked me up later. read more

The salon handled this very beautifully, They accused me that I'm a LIAR. The way they talked to me like I made stuff up, worse case is like I was a thief. Instead of contacting me directly through my inbox --which they never did, they played detective on me by looking me up to find out if I actually was there, by searching my alias name on their system. Once they never found anything, they got super defensive and were rude to my mother in law who tried to help get a refund (I used her credit card to pay for it, that's why she offered to contact them to get the refund). Yelp is a public platform where people can write their honest opinion. But seems to me like they can not handle negative feedback very well. That is why they tried to fight so hard and never sincerely admitted that they were wrong. At first when they said they would give me a refund was a lie. They never intentionally meant that. You can see in the comment they ask when I came in, that they couldn't find me in the register, to make me look like I never actually went in. Perhaps made me look like I was their competitor who made up a story to attack them. Well nah...this is a genuine opinion from a real person. Real review. Period. Also yes I edited the amount that I mistakenly wrote in my pervious comment, big deal. A reason for this? Because it was awhile ago (in March), and by the time I was writing the review in June, I forgot how much exactly I paid. I wrote it incorrectly, and it happens when you make millions of purchases in months. After finding out the exact price, I edited my comment like they said, to "suit my statement". I did not know this means so much to them. That still doesn't change the fact that they're in the wrong. And were extremely rude to me, accusing me of lying. All I can say, there are other "upscale" salons in this area, just go somewhere else. read more

She's really a hidden gem in the south bay, I've gone to so many salons and could never figure out why I wasn't happy with my balayage. Beware!!! The owner is completely unreasonable! I had been told by three people to go see Kaci at 505 salon who I am sure is absolutely amazing because she is booked solid for months out and I am so sad I could not see her! Long story: I contacted the salon to book an appt and because Kaci was booked so far out it was suggested that I see Anela. Later, I got cold feet (because she seemed fairly new) and booked an appt. with Kaci. I then called the salon to discuss further which stylist to go with because I was now considering extensions and the salon owner, Therese (aka Psycho), answered and told me she happened to have an opening the next day and to come on in! She colored my hair and ordered extensions which she applied that same week. I was happy with the results and booked another appt with her 6 weeks out and she told me she cancelled all other appointments with the other stylists. Unfortunately, 3 weeks later I was charged a "no-show" fee because she failed to cancel my appointments with her other employees. Furthermore, Therese failed to gather any of my contact info so the salon could not contact me at all, they just charged my credit card! What I anticipated would be a simple conversation regarding a small mix up ended up being a very awkward and interesting conversation with Therese where she claimed she could not have known I wanted her to cancel my appt with Anela 3 weeks after my appt with her. Considering I was now Therese's client and had already paid her over $800 for highlights, extensions, and products I was absolutely flabbergasted that this salon owner was so defensive and initially refused to reimburse me. It was not until I told her I would contact my credit card company that she agreed to reimburse me. It's unfortunate when we run into people like Therese who conduct business so poorly and treat people so inhumane. While what happened to me is terrible, I believe the worst part is she stole business from her own employees who she should be encouraging and supporting. I asked Therese if I could speak to Anela personally and she refused. Later, I received a text from Therese saying she was canceling all of my future appts, including my children's appts with another new stylist, Samantha. Now I am just mostly sad that I was never able to have my hair done by Kaci and I have these tape-in extensions that will need maintenance in a few weeks a good extension specialist is difficult to find! Take it from me, if you want a good hair stylist that is also a good person don't go to Therese De Vos!! read more

My first try was a salon that had seemingly decent reviews in Manhattan Beach, I was scared to try again and discouraged. Enter Salon 505. I am sooooo happy to have found this place! I got a fantastic cut - I have long hair and Therese added so much life to it while keeping it at a great length. Next I spruced up my color- and LOVE IT. It turned out to be such a great color! I got a partial done , I'm a brunette and Kayla did such a great job at adding beautiful honey hues that look so natural and blend perfectly. Go to Lexy Olms! Not only is she an amazing hairdresser, she is an amazing person! My mom was always my hairdresser and was educated and worked at a prestigious salon. She moved away, and I wouldn't let ANYONE touch my hair after a bad experience 4 years ago, and finally decided to give it another try with Lexy. She did an incredible job, like better than my mom! Two friends referred me to one of the hairstylists here, but she no longer does mens cuts so the salon referred me to another stylist. I came in yesterday for my appointment and told the stylist how I had been growing out my hair for over a year. I said I wanted to keep the length and overall look, I just needed a light trim to clean things up, and have the sides taken in a bit (my hair was not originally cut to grow out long so it was looking funny in places). She starts cutting, and after a few minutes, I realize she's cut off nearly 7 months of length in the back - my stomach dropped. Despite explicitly telling her I wanted to keep the length in the back, she took the shears and went to town. At that point, my hair was ruined. So then she moved to the sides and top, but proceeded to barely cut anything off there, giving me the weirdest haircut I never asked for. I told her to take the sides and top down a little more to try to salvage things and give me back the shape I was looking for, but in all honesty, I did not trust her to do a good job at that point based on how she cut the rest of my hair. When all was finished, I ended up with a male pixie cut and the most disappointment I've felt in a long time. Ultimately, I paid $80 with tip for one of the worst haircuts I've gotten in my life, all while having 7 months worth of growth gone in an instant. The only pleasant thing about this experience was the hairstylist herself; she was very, very sweet (hence the 2 stars). Men should stay away from this salon. read more

I live in Chicago and I fly to LA just so I can get my hair done by Kaci! Even in Chicago, where there are tons of salons, I just can't find anyone who gets my hair right. The level of expertise and the level of service are among the best and the prices are great too! I'm happy to pay whatever they charge because I never leave without being over the moon about my hair. LOVE THIS SALON!! Backstory... The person who had been cutting my hair moved to Vegas so I had to find someone new. I live in Torrance and found a place on Yelp with good reviews. Unfortunately, the guy who did my hair messed it up pretty bad so I was on the hunt again not only looking for a new hair stylist but also one who can correct a bad cut. I work by the Hermosa Hotel so this time around I yelped salons in Hermosa and 505 Salon popped up. They had great reviews but I was apprehensive because of the previous experience. When I called to set up the appointment the girl who answered the phone (I'm sorry I forgot her name) was very sweet and listened to my whole story without rushing me. She said she had the perfect person and booked me with Lexy. Lexy is AH-MAZING!! Not only was she able to correct the cut but she offered to add in a couple of extensions that she just so happened to have (and that happened to match my hair...what are the chances?) to fill in the hole that the previous guy had into my hair. AND she didn't even charge me for it- so nice!!! She really knows what she's doing and she's very, very sweet. The salon is also super cute and bright and happy. I was quoted for a gloss, my stylist Andrea said I did not need permanent color. She also added that gloss was cheaper and recommended it for my hair. I liked the outcome however, when I checked out she told the receptionist she did full color and charged me $250. I had the receptionist check again because she told me she did gloss and he came back saying she said to charge me for full color. She completely lied to my face, told me one thing and did another. I do not recommend this place, it's also way overpriced. What a scam! read more
