First time customer after my former hairdresser of 6 years moved out of state. Booked with Rick M and was quite nervous. I was warmly greeted by a few folks. The salon is lovely, clean and open (not crowded with stations). Rick took me to his station, asked what I wanted and shampooed my hair and then... he started to clip away. He told me what each tool was for and in the time it took my hair to dry (no dryer) I had the cutest short cut I've had in a long time! He put some Redken texture paste in his hands and rubbed it into to my thin head of hair and it perked up and looked perfect and smelled so clean and fresh! I'm a customer for life! It has already been pre-recognition that my dyed hair. She gave a choice of the two,  I would choose 2nd option as her recommendation. I was willing to less damage for the hair . The result was extreme damaged burn capillus through the end part . The curl perm not come out all, either. she was loath to admit his mistake. For all of your hair dyeing/bleaching needs, I definitely recommend Mayu! I found her on Yelp when she was at another salon, and since then I've followed her to Rooted Hair Design. The salon is clean and is definitely an upgrade from the previous salon. I've seen her twice now and each time she listens to what I want for my new hair color and explains how she will execute it and what the outcome will be for me, based on my hair type, length, and previous color. Bleaching and coloring asian hair is no easy task, but Mayu transformed my hair in only one day to this amazing balayage/highlighted titanium grey color. Mayu is so knowledgeable about bleaching hair and custom mixes bleach when she bleached my hair, especially because I came in with 1/2 blonde1/2 black, LOL. Since she's able to figure out the proportions and what volume of developer to use for different parts of the head, so I only needed to bleach once and the color was lifted with no damage! To blend the roots to the bleached portions, she applied a dark root shadow color, and then applies a toner all throughout the hair. The first time I got my hair done by Mayu, she fixed my uneven box dye color and this time, she bleached and toned my hair. To this day, I know a lot more about hair care and color because of her. At the end of the session, she removed all the yellow tones and did my roots perfectly! I honestly can't recommend her enough -- she is pleasant to talk to and so welcoming and attentive to details. I had a great cut with Jade this weekend! I have a LOT of wavy hair that can be difficult to cut and manage and Jade made it look easy. She took the time to ask questions about how I wear my hair and what my routine looked like so she could give me the right cut for my lifestyle. My last hair experience was a nightmare, so I was looking for a new place close to my home that was also affordable and Jade hit all the boxes. Dawn has been my stylist for the past 4 years now and I'm super excited that she has opened her new salon! Dawn is experienced in giving me beautiful color and highlights. She's thoughtful and patient and listens to your needs. The salon itself is beautiful with a very zen vibe. Lots of space between the stations so you don't feel crowded. Overall it has an ultra clean rustic modern feel to it. All the stylists are super friendly and you get a welcoming feel as soon as you walk in the door. On a wing and a prayer I placed a call to Rooted. The owner called me back the same day and recommended Jeffrey Banks as my stylist. I had no idea that I'd just won the jackpot! I spoke to Jeffrey the next day and made an appointment to see him in a week or so. He is so talented & I left with knockout cut & color! I've been going back for more for 2 years straight. Jeffrey has never let me down. Not only is he a very experienced professional but he is a delight to work with. He's honest & no bs when it comes to communication. I constantly get compliments on my hair. Jeffrey is a treasure and so is this salon. It's so spotless & the atmosphere is easy-going and accommodating. Such a pleasant surprise! I swear to god, Jade can read my mind. I've been seeing her for creative color for about 10 months now and every idea I've had she's executed even better than I imagined. Also, the cuts are FANTASTIC. I have naturally pretty curly, thick hair that I blow out and my shape/cut of my hair looks professionally styled even when I do it myself. There's only been one time I wasn't in love with the cut at first but the way my hair grew out and once I learned to style it it was perfect (she offered to redo it but I didn't take her up). It's so hard finding a hairdresser you can trust but I trust her unconditionally. She has an unbelievably loyal customer base. I'd follow her anywhere. Also, she's a great conversationalist if you want, or she's cool just being quiet and doing her thing if that's what you want. I was looking for a new hairdresser after moving to the area recently and wanted someone who could do balayages and cuts on Asian hair well. Ask for Lisa. My best friend and I did a day-date here today. We both went in for a haircut which of course include a wash and a blow out. The place is super clean and professional. The service here was so great. Everyone is so friendly and genuinely cares about their clients. They use the best products for your hair but don't try to sell you anything like most hair salons where you spend more on products than the service. They offer coffee and water as well. Lisa made us feel right at home. She's so easy going and really helps you figure out EXACTLY what you want to do with your hair. It is not a guessing game at all.
