This week was my second time going to Rikki at Tangles. I found the salon because I was unhappy with my current situation with hairdressers (far, expensive) and realized my boyfriend always talks about how happy he is with the hairdresser who cuts his hair. Rikki! I have tried quite a few different hairdressers since moving to Los Angeles 2 and a half years ago and have either found them way to expensive or not good at accomplishing what I want. I have past the shoulder lengths hair and usually get natural but bright looking blonde highlights. Rikki has found the perfect blond for my hair and she listens to what I want with my cut. The salon is clean, nice, and everyone I have met has been extremely friendly. This fall I will be trusting Rikki to take my hair darker! I've been getting my hair cut by Lyn at Tangles for quite a while now and I've always been pleased with the results. I just tell Lyn to "do it how you think looks best". I always get compliments after I've had it cut. One time, I got home and my neighbor said "Wow! What a great haircut!". And he's a macho surfer dude. Lynn H. is my stylist and I couldn't be happier; her precision and professional honestly is what keeps me going back. She scissor and hand razor cuts my hair, even taking timeout to trim my eyebrows. I absolutely LOVE the Coppola Keratin Complex I got from Lyn at Tangles! I had heard that this treatment is actually healthy for your hair, and that it can work on any type of hair, so I took the plunge. I have to say, this treatment has been absolutely life changing! I can now have good looking hair when I wake-up, during humid weather or even after a sweaty workout! I am also able to go out for a couple of days without washing it, which I wasn't able to do before. My hair was fine and thin, yet I had cowlicks and waves which made my hair go everywhere! I always used to wear a baseball cap while working out. Now, I can forego the baseball cap and have noticed I am getting more volume out of my hair on top of my head! It is amazing. Have it done by Lyn though. Her meticulous way of performing this treatment lasts me 5 to 6 months, so it is really worth the money. This was my first time at Tangles and it was great. Berit was amazing and really calmed me down about fixing my hair. I had a bad experience with a different hair stylist a couple months prior and was able to tell her how that experience had me freaking out and my confidence was quite low. I am one of those people that believe my hair is one of my best features, so to have it messed up was a total bummer. Walking into the salon in the morning I was warmly greeted by the smell of coffee that was brewing near the doorway. Looking to the receptionist desk I received a warm greeting from a young girl who apparently works there during the summer. I made an appointment with Juli, the owner of the salon, who, while busy, was able to "squeeze me in" between some other appointments. (I was rather rushed that day.) While the atmosphere was soothing, there was also a bit of hype among the energetic workers. In fact, I witnessed them dancing to the music that was playing over the radio. Despite the enjoyable environment, I have been completely satisfied by the cut that I received. Although the energy in the salon is playful, the stylists do a wonderful job. Rikki has been doing my hair for 2 years and I could not be happier. When I started going to her I lived around the corner from the salon, now I live in the valley and I make the drive just to see Rikki. My hair is naturally very dark and Rikki makes me look like a natural blond. I often get the comment "I see where she got her blond hair" when I am out and about with my 20 month old who has beautiful baby blond hair. Even though I have been in college in nyc for the past 4 years, I always get my hair done by Ricky when I come home to Manhattan Beach. During these four years I have died my natural strawberry- blond hair the following colors: blond, platinum, and chocolate brown. I've gone to other hairdressers in new york and even in tokyo, who have always managed to screw it up somehow. However, I came to Ricky a year ago with almost black hair, and told her I wanted to go back to my natural color. She warned me that it wasn't going to be pretty during the transition. However, she proved both of us wrong. After stripping the color and adding some more Ricky magic, the color was pretty close to my roots. After a year it looks 100% natural, you can't tell the difference between the real and color treated hair, and its HEALTHY. I just went back to Ricky last week, and she did a wonderful touch up cut.
