This review for Brittany and Salon Del Mar is WAY overdue! I heard about the salon and Brittany in particular from Yelp reviews, so it's only right that I leave my own. The salon location/view is lovely. Very relaxing vibe. Brittany herself was so easy to talk to, and understood exactly what I was going for without me even needing to show any pictures. She was thorough and I could tell she is really experienced. I felt very comfortable putting my hair in her hands. I remember going in that day for the first time feeling like I wasn't in a very social mood. But I ended up having such a pleasant and effortless conversation with Brittany! My hair looked amazing when I left, and everyone around me commented that it looked so much healthier in the days and weeks afterwards. I've tried several salons in the South Bay over the years but I definitely want to stick with Brittany at Salon Del Mar! read more

I was timid on my first cut, so he gave me beautiful long layers that lasted 5 months. When I came back, I completely trusted him, so we went with a more advanced cut. I called Salon Del Mar frantic as I only had this set aside time for my hair appointment. They were so gracious to take me in as a walk in only 20 minutes later. I am one picky person when it comes to my hair.. my hair is very gray (sad face - not even 40yrs old yet) and grows quickly so maintainance is a must! maybe this is stereotypical female speaking but my hair is my intro to my day and everyone who sees me.. Brittany is the savior of my hair. She is honest (thank you Brittany!), straightforward and is an amazing colorist. I absolutely love going to Salon Del Mar. It's a small salon that feels cozy, is extremely clean and well-maintained - and I even have an ocean view from the chair! I love it because there's not a ton of people scrambling around all over or super loud blow-dryer chaos ... it's just very warm and friendly and relaxing ... a great place to get pretty! All of the stylists seem really great, but Brittany is the absolute best. I love her style and she's so knowledgeable about everything, that I know I can leave it all up to her and I will look great. Aside from her wonderful work ethics, she is genuinely a beautiful soul inside and out (very thoughtful and caring). I now get my haircut by Kevin. Stephanie is great but she was busy to book because she is awesome! So anyway Stephanie recommend I try Kevin. He kills it. Kevin is newer at cutting hair but not new to attention to detail and laser focus. He even noticed I had a stray long hair coming out from the side of my ear. Like a blonde fine hair I had never seen and I look at myself every day :). I would say if you want to have the best haircut of all the guys at the office or the bar then it is simple. Just go to Kevin. Where I work I notice other guys hair now and they often have a haircut that looks like a haircut. Mine looks sculpted. My hair looks like it grows perfect. Even as it grows in it looks solid. I am getting it cut soon and already excited that I will come out looking and feeling all man. Also they have free parking right out front. read more

Had an amazing experience at Salon Del Mar! Glaucia was awesome and very experienced in Brazilian blow outs. I recently moved to the area and had gone to five other salons to inquire about this straightening treatment with no luck. Thankfully I was able to come across a Groupon for Glaucia! I have been getting this procedure done for about 10 years so I did have very high standards and expectations on what products were used and the final "look". I have very curly and unruly hair and Glaucia gave that extra attention and effort that is needed for more difficult hair types. I absolutely LOVE the outcome, my hair has been transformed and looks super healthy and shiny. The Brazilian blow out will make my new life in sunny California much easier for the next few months. Annie from England is AWESOME!! She did a Keratin hair treatment for me today and I couldn't be happier! I've had tight curly hair all my life, always pining for straight, soft, NOT frizzy hair. Annie can through for me with flying colors. She also does hair feathers (one of the only ones in the area), snazzy up do's (many of an Oscar attendee has sat in her chair!) and fantastic cuts, color and treatments. So I am really picky when it comes to my hair, and I hate trusting new people to cut my hair. I have curly hair, but wear it straight and I also Iike my hair cut dry. So my girlfriend at work recommended I try out her hairstyles Stephanie, so I called and Stephanie managed to squeeze me in her very busy schedule. So I pull up and it is in the most beautiful location EVER! You have a great view of the ocean and the salon was so nice. Great music and the atmosphere was so welcoming. As for my hair cut....... I have never been more happy with a haircut! I LOVE LOVE IT! I already have a follow up scheduled. I would have to second Rikki as an awesome hair stylist. She has an amazing way of determining your hair type and facial structure for a great look. I have really really thick hair and Rikki always manages to get the bulk out and I come out with an awesome style. She is a perfectionist when it comes to color as well and I constantly get compliments on my hair color and most think it is natural. Her prices are very reasonable and she is so flexible with scheduling. I have to say I also really love the salon. Its tall ceilings with the ocean breeze coming in off the patio upstairs, ocean view and the cute little flower boxes make it a real treat to get my hair done by Rikki. I used to have the owner Stephanie cut my hair. The haircuts are okay but she has a bad attitude and I will no longer deal with being disrespected as a client. Last time I had an appointment and she asked to change it for a different time which I agreed to immediately. Then, I ran a few minutes late and she notified me that i was too late because she had another more important appointment with another client who is always punctual. I ended up just getting a half a cut and left upset. Funny thing is he was a few minutes late but and she argued again about this. I had a new appointment for this Wednesday Dec 30th and she just cancelled it leaving me with little time to get cleaned up before an event I'm attending for New Year's day. read more

The Salon is basically steps to the sand in Hermosa Beach and you will enjoy a panoramic view of the sand and surf, as well as the gorgeous sunsets, (depending on the time of day) while at the same time getting a terrific hair style. Stephanie, the owner, has been my husband's and my stylist for more than 20 years. Not only is she a tremendous stylist, but she continues to keep up with the trends in the business, going to various hair shows and educational seminars. Additionally, as the owner, she hires other amazing stylists that are both personable and knowledgeable about the latest styles in the industry. In addition to Stephanie (does everything and I personally love her attention to detail and her knowledge of color techniques), I would also highly recommend Brittany (adorable, a complete joy and is highly adept at the latest in male and female styles) and Van (does great men cuts and has a wonderful flair for color). Annie is the best cutter ever! My husband just walked in one day and Annie gave him such a cute haircut that i had to check her out myself. I'm use to paying crazy amounts in SF and in LA, and she's really well-price and she's able cut it in a way that suits your face, she's very intuitive. I have very fine straight hair and somehow she made it seem a bit wavy. I tried other stylist since i moved near Santa Barbara 3 years ago but no one been able to match her cut. So every 3-4 months, I trek back to my old hood to get a cut and a beer at Sidedoor. It's crazy, but i also bring my girlfriends from here and meet another one from San Diego and they also get their hair cut and colored with her. I thought I went the distance but now my girlfriend from Solano Beach drives the furthest to get her awesome cuts. My girlfriend has the opposite problem as I, very thick hair and wavy and Annie make her mane look stylishly tamed. read more
