Over all this new section call Pier 6 is not at all complete; I'm disappointed but the four themed playgrounds are completed and it is FABULOUS. Yelper who have young child or are parents if you did not take your child ( 2 to 12 years) to these playgrounds they will miss a opportunity of a life time. These four playgrounds are like a mini-amusement park for free. If you take a child there they will love forever and ever until they become teenagers. Five stars for the design and builder of these playgrounds. This place is a child's dream to be able to play in this fantastic public playground! I being a geek can't help loving this place but how do I describe them? I think it is best through pictures and a quick description to start you: 1) Slide Mountain- the slides are wonder and fun. There a several that are at different heights. I even saw adults sneak down the slides and screaming like their child. 2) Sandbox Village- great for smaller kids; the wooden choo-choo train is so cute and there are several mini-bungalows for the kids to play in. 3) Water Lab- you will get wet, you want to get wet and it is so must fun. 4) Swing valley- fantastic landscaping and banked walls but don't let the little ones run into the moving swings.

It starts getting crowded around 4-7 pm in the spring and summer. There's lots of bikers and skateboards and a few scooters. It can get rowdy and accidents do happen so so wear a helmet and pads! The park can be divided into two sections- One side is spacious with 45 degree ramps, concave ramps, and such. The other side is steeper - a half pipe sort of thing. On a cold winter weekend, my commute from here to Queens on two buses and a train came a total of 2…read morehours. Why would I do such a thing? Because the Parks Department holds a bunch of free classes and events all over this city, and some of the really cool ones are in its more remote locations! I signed up for a compass reading and orienteering class. I was the only one who showed up, so I got a private ranger led tour of the park by two handsome bearded park rangers, Teddy and Patrick. You're freaking missing out! You can sign up for a by-borough weekly newsletter from the Parks Department about these tours and classes (like camp cooking, fire making, tree identification, etc.). I can see why this park doesn't do it for some people, but I'm going to share why I love it. For one thing, it packs a lot into a small space. A skate park, two large playgrounds, a bike/jogging lane, multiple ball fields and basketball courts, the largest series of workout stations I've ever seen (including some that are handicap accessible- in fact the whole park is), clean bathrooms, more trash cans than I've seen in any park, and a more wild area that leads off to a beach where you get a wide expanse of water and sky. If you close your eyes, the din of cars on the Belt Parkway almost sounds like waves. Other than that, the planes are all you hear, but the remoteness is still worth experiencing even with those city sounds. For another, the park contains marshland that helps protect NYC from flooding during storms. Much like New Orleans, we need this land too, even though a lot of people don't think of swampy places with much fondness. The restoration of this site honors the land for what it is and the job it's doing, and has paths around the marshland so you can see the wildlife that thrive there. We saw geese, crows, sparrows, ducks, a praying mantis nest, oak trees, Kentucky Coffee trees, Hawthorne trees (they look like Christmas holly!), and something I kept calling "pink lemonade trees" because apparently that's what their berries taste like. Finally, it's quiet, at least in the cold. All afternoon on a Saturday, the skate park was the most active place. The playgrounds and ball fields were quiet, a few dog walkers and roller bladers here and there but for the most part I had the place to myself. In the summer I hear a lot of people come out to BBQ. The whole neighborhood was quiet, very family oriented. Get out and explore your city! :)

I wanted to check it out to see if we wanted to do my daughter's birthday here. It's $13 for 2 hours of play for kids under 2 years old which was reasonable and I liked that they give you 4 tokens to play an arcade game. The pricing seems to change depending on the kids' ages. The playground had a big ball pit, 3 big slides, a trampoline, arcade games, and other fun toys/ activities. The arcade games looked fun. The playground was well kept for the most part. There was an area where you can see dust balls. It's funny, I didn't notice them until my daughter pointed them out to me. They need to vacuum that. They do have birthday party packages. The party room looked nice. It was smaller than the other playgrounds we've been to but looks fun still. I think I need to wait for a few more months before I bring daughter back so she can fully enjoy this place.

There are some things I have noticed that either need repair or have been replaced with cheaper alternatives making me feel a bit sad that the upkeep is not consistent. The staff are incredibly friendly and they always give us an additional 10 minutes of playtime. My son loves the ride on arcade games and there is a token exchange machine if you have cash readily available I hope they will replace the cheap Lego blocks with the ones they had before.

Pokemon Day Out event at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 was so fun! I never been to this pier until…read morethe event. We went on Sunday which was the last day of the event. The event was organized for the most part. But we didn't have issue going through the entrance since we had tickets. The map and the way they set up was explanatory. The staffs were friendly for the most part. We did see one or two looks like they were done for the day (no smile or enthusiasm energy). There were a lot of fun interactive games such as coloring station, tossing beans bags, matching tiles, and fishing game. You and your family can freely wonder around. There were lived performances of Pokemon characters dancing with children on stages at some point. There were photo booths where family and friends can take photos and print them out. The point epic experience for me was the "Meet and Greet" booth. I got to meet Snorlax and Quaxly! I had so much fun meeting them and taking photos with them. They are so cute! This event definitely brings me back to my inner childhood. Everyone at the event seemed to be very happy. Though sadly, we didn't get a pack of fun cards at the end of the event. They ran out of the cards. We ended getting an Pokemon eraser which is still something better than nothing. Overall, it was pretty fun and would love to see these kind of events happen again soon!

If you're looking for a climbing facility where kids decide what they want and don't want to do, this place is perfect. Booking & Check-In: The online process was seamless--purchasing tickets, selecting a time slot, and completing the waiver form all happened smoothly. Pro tip: fill out the waiver online when you buy tickets to save time at check-in. There was a line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. Safety & Orientation: All kids in our time slot gathered in a separate room for harness fitting and a thorough safety video. Since each harness must be fitted individually by an instructor, this takes some time--hence the 20-minute early arrival recommendation. It's time well spent for peace of mind. The Facility: The climbing courses are fantastic, with plenty of variety across different difficulty levels. The auto-belay system lets kids climb independently while staying securely connected at all times. With colorful themed walls, vertical challenges, and ropes courses reaching 26 feet high, there's no shortage of excitement. Everything feels extremely safe, with staff members consistently available throughout. There's also a play structure for younger children (4 feet and under). Entry was free (unheard of in this day and age!) and skate rentals were only $20+tax. Believe me when I say the energy of all the skaters, employees and DJ were off the charts! Everyone was positive, enthusiastic, supportive and friendly! There were impromptu conga lines, electric slide dances and smiles aplenty. I must have skated for about 3 hours with only the occasional 3 minute break to catch my breath. In case you got hungry or thirsty, there were small mom n pop food and drink vendors by the entrance charging very reasonable prices. The best part was being amongst such talented skaters! I've only been skating three times now but I feel like I leveled up just by watching others here.
