We were meeting a customer and a company we work with who is located here in Winnipeg. We were told about dinner, how it's one of the nicest spots in town and they absolutely delivered. It's in a beautiful large home, but has some private dining areas and a cool bar right when you walk ins We were early for dinner so a few of us ordered drinks. I ended up having one of the best spicy margaritas ever. Craftsmanship is crucial here, and they have a broad offering of cocktails, wines and liquors. Aiden helped us get situated at the bar. Watched him and the others work as fast as possible to make sure the bar was set, also the dinner tables too. Should not have had two but how often will I be in Winnipeg? We were seated upstairs in a private room. Perfect for a business dinner. Russell was our server and he was top level. Helpful, professional and helped make good choices for our table. We had bread service, onion rings towers, and I ordered a French onion soup that knocked my socks off. I saw the people who knew the restaurant the best order mojitos and how could I say no? That was the best drink of the night, the mint smelled so fresh, like someone literally grew it outside. For dinner I had the 10 oz ribeye mid rare and with a side of cognac peppercorn sauce which was almost too delicious that I tried not to dunk my steak in it rather than so the polite thing and pour it on my plate. The table ordered potatoes gratin, lobster mac n cheese, spinach, asparagus with Bernaise sauce, and cauliflower and I'll be honest I was holding on to make sure I ate the steak so I only had some bread and a couple onion rings, then with dinner I had some cauliflower and passed on everything else. Our customer is known here, so the service and food were impeccable. Russell was funny, and gave as good as he received when trying to razz him a bit. For dessert I thought why not order a couple scoops of ice cream? In Winnipeg, a scoop is basically two in the US. Way too much ice cream but presented beautifully with gooseberries and fresh fruit, along with a sauce for each the salted caramel and the dark chocolate. An incredible set menu experience! Highly recommend the onion ring tower, beef tenderloin, mushrooms and the raspberry dark chocolate cake. We were with my mom who is elderly and has mobility issues. They did everything to accommodate and make her feel comfortable. We had to take her back after appetizers, as it was too much for her to stay for the full meal and the restaurant held our main courses until my family got back from taking her home. They could not have been nicer and more accommodating. We were so grateful! It's in a restored mansion on Wellington Crescent. The vibe and atmosphere is wonderful. Known as a Steakhouse, I tend to find I go with a favourite before going over to what's big. Now as of today I never tried the steak -- yet. The burger was good, but not worth the high price it was. I went through a steakhouse phase when I lived in Winnipeg. To this day, one of my favourite steakhouses in the world is 529 Wellington. I used to drive past this place to and from work when I worked by the airport. The restaurant's name is based on its location: 529 Wellington Crescent. It is located at a unique intersection of Winnipeg that has a Jewish synagogue, a Lutheran Church, and St. Mary's Academy (catholic). You then have this eatery completing the final corner, which is equally as special. 529 Wellington is a restored mansion. It is also known as Ashdown House, built for a hardware merchant over a century ago. The Shriners bought it years later. When they built their own temple, this mansion became a steakhouse. I have been here three times. It is an upscale steakhouse, which explains why I came here only for special occasions. It is worth shelling out for top-notch food. Tables are scattered around this mansion, which allows you to feel cozy and like you're in a private part of the restaurant. It's gorgeous inside. The server comes over and describes how each steak is prepped. It's cool the first time you are here. If you're a regular, you may want to politely ask that you skip this speech! I never have. I like that sort of thing. You basically order each item separately off the menu. We ordered a side of broccoli for $9. My steak was probably a good $30+ a decade ago. The scalloped potatoes are to-die-for delicious. They are a must! The steak is amazing here. I've had the prime rib and beef tenderloin. OMG! They melt in your mouth and are done to perfection. I have managed to squeeze in dessert after every amazing meal. I love bread pudding and this place makes it well. It will vary it with seasonal berries. I also have had something as simple as vanilla bean ice cream. It was supposed to have some topping. Our server came over and apologized that the topping was available. Instead, he asked if I was good with "chocolatey sauce" on the ice cream instead. That saying is memorable to this day. The ice cream was made in-house. It had vanilla bean specks in the ice cream. It was so creamy and good. I desperately want to return to this restaurant. It offers takeout these days. If I were in Winnipeg, I would drive over and get some. Lots of restaurants offer outdoor seating. Few in Winnipeg could deliver an experience of class, service, food, and drink like 529 Wellington. They get it. Patio dining can still be classy while being comfortable. We began with a bottle of 2016 Joseph Phelps Innisfree and a fresh and flavorful salad of fresh cut beefsteak tomatoes, red onion, and blue cheese buttermilk dressing. I chose their 10 ounce Prime New York Strip steak and added grilled foie gras. Perfect! My wife chose prosciutto wrapped scallops and a 6 ounce steak and was very pleased. This huge palace of provisions is housed in an imposing turn of the 20th Century mansion. It was built by the Ashtown Family who made their fortune in the hardware biz. Proof that a good screw has value. The interior is all wainscoting, coffered ceilings, leaded stained glass fixtures and hand carved oak furniture. It was like eating on the set of American Horror Show. I expected to see Lady Gaga descending the stairs in a sheer pink Teddy bringing a cocktail. The Vibe: Who goes there? No one. The place was deserted the night we went, except for one romantic happy couple celebrating their Anniversary and another elderly couple celebrating a Birthday, and we 7 dudes on the All Guys Fishing Trip, re-enacting the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles. The place cleared out like the Republican Guard at the sight of the first tracer. The Bar Program: There are a few beers on tap and a heroic wine list, much of which is accessible and some of which has a heroic price tag and requires a 3rd mortgage. The list is encyclopedic and is as thick as child's booster chair. You like wine? There'll be something for you, even Canadian wine (is that like Italian Tofu?). The Blue Mountain Pinot Noir 2014 was as soft and expansive as a blind date. Yes, there are cocktails. A handful of mutant concoctions, standards and classics. Stick to those. It's like drinking the Rod Stewart Great American Songbook but reliable. I had a whisky sour which was harmless but at least cool and pleasant. The Food: It's what you came for. Meat in the Manor and in the manner it should be prepared. But first because it was a party we loaded up on appetizers. Remember American tourists, you're paying in Canadian dollars, so open your wallet and belt buckle. Put a stack of cash on the table like you were playing at Binion's World Series of Poker and start ordering. The signature Onion Ring Tower was...a tower of Onion Rings. 18 inches of mega rings fried senseless to crispy crunchy and stacked on a spike where they settled before they settled around my waistline. They come with a cup of Chili Aioli (Mayo, Sriracha, and Chili Flakes). It might be more fun to serve them on a plate so you could toss them onto a spindle or your date's lap for a Teddy Bear prize. These were good, but also show up at the Yard House chain in the lower 48. The Dry Ribs were...well...long dry ribs. Salt, Pepper and Garlic Powder, then simmered and baked. They flew off the platter but then we were so hungry Alpo on a Triscuit would have disappeared. The Liver Pate was not your Bubbe's. What, no schmaltz? No Gribenes? Oye vey. And not even Mario Batali's Italian style Rustico with Pancetta and Cognac, either. Just a double disher scoop of liver pate, Cornichons, Butter Lettuce, and a few Onion shreds that escaped the Onion Tower. The standard Bar Mitzvah reception version. The Caesar Salad was a nice effort. The dressing itself was a tad weak. It should bite you back. The table side preparation was done in the bowels of the kitchen. You want table side service? St. Boniface Hospital Delivery Room (and bring your own Caesar salad). Then the curtain went up. Chris, our personable, affable and capable top quality pro server appeared with a table of stage props and performed his steak spiel ala the old Morton's schtick. A walk through the cow's lineage, along with taste and chew quotients of each cut. The 22 oz Peppered Ribsteak with Cognac Peppercorn Sauce was wonderful. I twas carved from Canadian beef of which less than 2% of Canadian cow's make the cut. Perfectly cooked, it was beefy and tender. Spot on and truly prepared as good as you can get. This could lure a Vegan to sin and debauchery. Make that de-butchery. The Special Beef Wellington also had to be ordered and was done to a Tee. (Some of it now splattered on my Tee). Pink Filet, wrapped in Puff Pastry over a layer of Wild Mushrooms and a fat Fois Gras chunk on top. Worthy of Winston Churchill. Had he ordered this creation he might have missed the Yalta Conference due to a necessary post meal nap. The Sides: Well, you should have something near your beef, right? The French Fries weren't phenomenal. The Broccoli wouldn't make former President Bush break his self imposed rule of never having it, The Wild Mushrooms were manageable. The Pontalban Potatoes were passable. There was an exceptional Twice Baked Potato as big as a Duke football and deliciously crammed with everything a potato can and should hold. The Dessert: A Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse thing with Raspberry Coulis was pretty damn good in a dense sorta way. All the house made ice creams were lovely and far, far better than waiting 45 minutes to buy some drippy mess at BDI. (Bridge Drive Inn). Need to bulk up for hockey season? Three things make 529 stand out: the historic atmosphere, the service, and the Canadian Prime steaks. You'll be greeted by incredible oak furniture, an incredible staircase leading to stained glass windows, and rich carpeting. Each room is unique and decorated elegantly - I referred to it like eating on the Titanic or in Downton Abbey. The service is equally as welcoming with their servers being incredibly knowledgeable about the various types of steaks & wines. I also appreciated their willingness to take photos for us :-) The filet that I had was cooked to perfection and seasoned incredibly. The sides were ok - nothing to write home about and quite frankly I am probably spoiled by the brussel sprouts/potatoes in Atlanta. But the steak & crème brulee dessert - amazing. Ok..so if you are thinking of a nice night out in Winnipeg, this is definitely your place...you will spend more money than you thought was humanly possible but it's worth it. It's setting is in someone's house from 1936'ish but it's beautiful. Gorgeous space with dining areas up and downstairs with a quaint bar which was once (I guess) someone's study years ago. Just a wonderful space that almost all restaurants will never have the luxury of being able to offer. So you sit down and they drop a wine menu on you that could literally bludgeon someone to death with. I've eaten at a lot of places with crazy wine lists...this is the best. Not even close...5 different Grange vintages to start and it just gets crazier from there. They then take you on a tour of meat...they bring all the cuts they are offering that evening to your table for you to gander upon before you make your choice. Nice touch... I had an amazing lobster bisque to start and a giant bone out ribeye for my main...both unbelievable...Is it the best steak I've ever had....top 5 for sure. The sides were just amazing...everything is ala cart but whatever. Candied beets were just perfect... 529 came recommended by fellow colleagues in the industry being new to town within a couple months. My wife and I made a mid evening reservation on a Thursday and arrived to find the restaurant well occupied and charming. We were sat promptly with a smile on the main floor, 5 or so table room to our liking. We started out with a glass of red zin and a cab to get our feet wet, order taking and delivered by the sommelier just prior to having been presented with the meat cuts. Our wine arrived with typical wine glasses, but mine arrived along with a little decanter, cool! We chose our meals, me, lobster bisque, wife, table side Caesar salad, prepared for her while I was in the bathroom, bad timing I guess?? Main course, small fillet each, both ordered medium rare, mine with foie, my wife's with a nice seafood medley. Prior, after getting the waiters attention we requested to see the sommelier again, we needed to order a bottle wine to pair with our meals, obviously. Meals arrived, still no wine guy, began our meals, looked around for a little while, still no sign. Ok, fine we still have a half glass left, lets make the best of it. Just as we finish our starters he makes an appearance. I told him we would have loved to have ordered a bottle, but so late in our meal, we opted for another round of the same wine. Main courses show up, (we ordered a side broccoli too, so hard its as if it was run under hot water only, saving grace, is was a 1-1/2 lbs portion, of which we ate for two days) with and immediate plop of our new wine on the table, (no decanter this time) while we still had 1/4 full glasses!! So we look idiots with four glasses of wine on the table, picture that.... In all fairness the waiter asked how our first bite was, the steak that is, was fine within a couple seconds of receiving it albeit. Anyway, my foie was so small it was unrecognizable and cooked into another dimension, on top of a 6 oz steak, my wife liked her seafood. As we continued eating I cut my steak in half as did my wife to find it blue, as in blue rare. Left it for a second, just as my waiter walked by, I looked at him, he looked at my steak and, a blank look. The cut of fillet, as well was not of the quality paraded around, I guess you have to buy $80 version for that. Regardless, I had it boxed up immediately, explained our concern's, and paid. While we asked for cab to be called the manager approached and acknowledge the fact we had concern's, his reply, but the service was ok? Right? I'm not kidding, you cant make this shit up.... Try pulling that off in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary or Montreal and see what happens... This is my only review of a restaurant and likely my last, but when you shell out the kind of money they ask and this is the result, well, I'm not an idiot! I came here for a coworker's retirement party and they gave us our own private room for about 16 people or so. I think a lot of people that are above my pay scale enjoy this place because of the atmosphere and would probably be a great anniversary place, but I'm a more down to earth person. This place is quite hidden as you basically have go through a fancy gate and walk into this really big house. It was probably someone's house a long while back. When we first walked in, they offered to check our coats too. In terms of the food, it was a good choice of food. I ordered the spinach salad, soup and while it wasn't on the menu, I asked for a vegetarian option. They ended up preparing these roasted red peppers stuffed with lentils, beans, and some other things with asparagus. It was delicious. As for the salad, it tasted nice, but I thought there was too much dressing and oil on it. It was a bit too "fancy" for me. A lot of others ordered steak and giant prawns and they all said it was delicious. Verdict: If you like your fancy food and not homemade food, this is a great place to take a special person. While I don't know the price, I'm sure it is quite expensive based on the ambiance and the high level of service. read more

It was priced like Morton's but it's nowhere near as good. Lamb was tender. Way over salted when sauced. The wild caught organic salmon turns out to be farmed Atlantic salmon. Not organic. Not wild caught. Lousy. And seriously detrimental to wild salmon stock. This place offers itself as top drawer. It is simultaneously not. It's stuffy. Pretentious. It would do week to get a new chef and lose the imposter-posh vibe. It has a great location and if it fit with great food presented simply it would be worth the price. We were visiting Winnipeg for the weekend and wanted to check this place out. Its absolutely beautiful how they turned the old mansion into a restaurant. Our party of 12 got a private room and the decor felt so classy. They also offer a meat tour with in depth explanations. Our party was all over the place so I really appreciated the server's patience. I loved the oysters, the prime rib yorkies, and salmon were all delicious. If you enjoy fine dining, and are looking for a private room to accommodate a large party I highly recommend! Will definitely be back when I visit Winnipeg. read more

We went for a casual meal and sat on the lounge side at the bar. The atmosphere in the lounge is just more laid back and a little bit more fun, so that is usually our go to. We felt like something light as opposed to the amazing (but heavy) steak dinners that tend to be the norm, so we shared the long dry ribs, a caesar salad, and the tuna tartar. All of the above were absolutely amazing as per usual. The long dry ribs are exactly as they sound, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper, and SO juicy. The caesar salad was so tangy and garlicky, with a vinaigrette style dressing, as opposed to creamy; we definitely could have had another one, and probably another after that! The tuna tartar comes with small pieces of toast, and you can just taste the high grade quality of the fish, a definite recommendation of mine! I went to 529 Wellington once again in March and had a superb experience. They hired a young Maitre 'D/Sommelier who was exquisite at his chosen profession. Because the wine list is vast, it's extremely helpful when the sommelier knows his or her stuff. I gave him my favourite region (Right Bank Bordeaux- Pomerol FYI) and my price range and he ran with it. We had a 2001 (great vintage P.S.) and it was outta-sight! Oh yeah and the steak? The Skinny: okay steak, subpar sides, same menu without much innovation (3) service is reasonable but not in keeping with the ambience (3), value - can get better for the same price (2). I've been here at least 6-7 times in the past and I'm not sure why this place gets so many accolades. The menu here hasn't changed at all since it opened which tells me that the owners have no interest in investing in innovation. The quality of the steak here is okay. Don't expect anything really high end here (say goodbye, wagyu/kobe beef.). Really all they serve here is American beef that has a higher fat content than supposedly Canadian beef. I have tried their Atlantic salmon before. It's okay. Rather bland though and overcooked generally. The starter to get is the long dry ribs that they serve. It's fall off the bone kind of good. The others which includes their smoked salmon with toast points, cheese bread, spinach salad, caesar salad, french onion soup are basically average. Nothing astounding. The sides are surprisingly underwhelming with exception of two dishes - the potatoes au gratin and the asparagus with hollandaise. These two dishes are pretty good - appropriately cheesy and delicious. But the others - pontalba potatoes, sweet mashed potato with maple syrup, mushrooms were all subpar for a steak house. The mushrooms were soggy on more than one occasion - cooked at the incorrect temperature obviously. The sweet mashed potatoes is actually yams because the texture is too mushy to be potatoes. As well, this dish was too sweet. Pontalba potatoes were not flavourful given the description. Portion sizes are very small considering the price tag. Dessert is kind of bleh. The Blueberry bread pudding is so-so and so is the cheesecake. Really wasted calories. Finally, service. The service is ok but not attentive. Don't expect to have your napkin folded for you or anything. This level of service is actually below average considering how much you pay to eat here. read more

I had a beautiful evening with a dear friend while visiting Winnipeg. I was absolutely taken with the lush greenery and flowers of the terrace. Our server was Marnie and she made the evening memorable. We started with chicken liver pate which was the best I've had. We shared a small tenderloin done to perfection, a lobster tail and a jacket potato. I tried a bite of the Maple Pecan pie which tasted divine. The Prosecco was dry and crisp and my friend enjoyed his whisky and Pinot Grigio. The service was highly personable and seemingly effortless. It's a very classic steakhouse look, dark woods and very traditional decor and leans towards a very "mature" crowd. Supposedly the best steakhouse in Winnipeg...but I was sorely disappointed. I went here for lunch and was disappointed with the food. Maybe it's a less skillful/experienced staff at lunch time? To me, nothing ruins a good piece of meat like overseasoning it. I had the 12 oz New York and it was obviously over salted as I could see the steak covered in coarse salt granules. I took a bite and all I could taste was salt! I returned the steak - something I rarely do. The second go around was a charred steak - the exterior had way too much char, so it tasted like a burnt steak even though it was cooked to a nice medium rare inside. Grilling is good, but don't char the entire surface. I didn't return the second steak because who wants to be "that" person who keeps returning meals. The sides were also very underwhelming and pedestrian. But I have to say that the patio in the back is very beautiful and tranquil. It's one of the more unique patios in Winnipeg - I'd go back to enjoy that scenery though. Now, to the lounge...it's a tiny room, with about 6 tables in there along with the bar. It's very dark in there along with the rest of the decor, and a very bright plasma TV in the corner that is very distracting due to the extremes in lighting. But, I understand that every bar/lounge needs to have at least one TV. Anyhow, despite the traditional looking lounge, I really enjoyed the ambiance. Yes, you do get distracted by the large groups walking in and out of the main dining rooms but overall, it's a comfortable room. I love the chairs, very comfy and very important in a lounge. How else would one lounge around for hours on end? They have a very extensive and expensive wine book for those who are so inclined. Numerous wines by the glasses and a plethora of hard liquor to make those stiff drinks with. The staff were really friendly and very helpful in helping us select our drinks. We also enjoyed a plate of beef carpaccio - thin slices of beef tenderloin drizzled with olive oil and with slices of Parmagiano Reggiano shavings and green onions. It was a good dish but not the best beef carpaccio I've had. I think service here is much better in the evening and I'm sure the steaks are prepared and cooked better than it is at the lunch hour. But at the prices they are charging, the quality of the food and service should be very consistent. read more

This was highly disappointing! Went here for a steak dinner with friends on Sunday as it was our last resort since we failed to make reservations for our last minute planning. Service was attentive first prior to getting our food. However, once the food was served, service deteriorated and our glasses were frequently left empty. The cleanliness of the dishes was horrendous. Three of the five plates provided for us to for the appetizers had to be sent back since they were VERY UNCLEAN! They each had leftovers either on top, side or underneath the plates and should NOT have left the kitchen. The server did apologize but the attention to details is lacking. I ordered the 6oz tenderloin medium rare with King crab. The steak was seared only on one side! As a result, the steak was more blue than medium rare. The king crab should have been called poverty crab, it was only 3 morsels of crab meat about half the size of a timbit each. The best part of the meal were the sides and desserts. Best onion rings I've had in the city. Fries were well portioned and wild mushrooms were done perfectly. The lava cake was a tad overdone but the homemade vanilla ice cream made up for it. Overall, I would say if you come for steak, avoid this place since it's overpriced for what you get. Poorly done steak, dirty dishes, and inadequate service! 529 is one of my favorite places to eat in the Peg. I've been a few times but try to save it for special occasions since you're looking at approx. 100 bucks per person to go. The restaurant itself is an old mansion on one of Winnipeg's most prestigious streets with lavish decor throughout. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and Chris, (their smellier) is friendly and knows his stuff. The first time I went, their wine list intimidated me because it's very extensive and I really didn't know that much about wine so I ordered a rum and coke. The second time I went I braved their wine folder and their smellier was able to recommend something in my price range that my husband and I ended up loving - which is extremely hard to do for most people since my husband likes a dry Merlot and I like a fruity syrah. For dinner I usually go with the fillet Mignon. Side dishes are made to share. Last time, had asparagus with hollandaise sauce and maple pecan sweet potatoes (yum). Since everything is a la carte expect your dinner service to take awhile. I'd rate this place 5/5 stars but took one away for the 3.5 hour lunch my colleagues and I had there. We didn't want to leave as we were hungry and treating with business partners but didn't really have the time to stay all afternoon for lunch either. They were short staffed and offered us free desert to share among 10 people to compensate... At those prices, I would've expected more but overall this is a fantastic restaurant! read more

529 was very nice. It was cool that it was in an old mansion. The waiter was very good and definitely knew what he was doing. However I was quite overwhelmed with the menu. Since it was our first time there, he did his thing telling us about all the cuts of meat and explaining their differences. However he talked soooo fast, it was very difficult to catch everything he was saying. We ordered the tuna tartare, which was fantastic and a bit different. But we are sushi fanatics. We like to share to we split a Caesar salad, the 25 oz new York for two and the chefs potatoes. The salad was fantastic, I could east that all the time. The steak was very good, but I wished I had gotten the ribeye, I was thinking that's what we ordered, just got confused with all the options. The potatoes were not very good though, but that was down to a personal preference. They were basically cubed boiled potatoes in gravy, which is not the way they were described, and didn't go terribly well with the steak, but again, just a personal taste preference. Overall it was a ton of food, we took home over half the steak, most of the potatoes, and has no room for dessert, which was too bad cause we both wanted the creme brulé haha. I don't know that I would go there again though, because the cost overall just didn't quite lice up to the meal, but then again, a different steak and a different side and my tune could be different. Very disappointed, not in the food and the service as it was great but for the restaurants integrity. I was charged for 2 bottles of wine when I only ordered and received one. I noticed the next day and called the restaurant .The manager Jim told me to text him a copy of my receipt and he would look into it. I did so right away. It has been 1 month and I have tried to reach out several times but have received no response. I realize that mistakes happen but you need to own up to them and correct them. I'm always completely surprised when I read a bad/mediocre review of 529. I absolutely love it. I've been multiple times and I have never had bad service or food that wasn't amazing. I went here for dinner last night. The mansion was beautifully decorated for Christmas and our server was top notch. Best customer service experience I've ever had in a restaurant. We were considering booking our small wedding reception dinner here, and wanted to try it out first. First impression exceeded our expectations. We were already sold on this being 'THE' venue. Unfortunately, I ordered my steak medium well and got a medium rare. It was surprising because the waiter asked me "so just a little tiny bit of pink in the center?" and what I got was blood running on the plate, red throughout, I would say bordering raw in the center. (I gave that part to my fiance lol.) We will have to book with the Keg, which isn't nearly as beautiful inside, but my steak has always been cooked perfectly (love their seasoning) and sides are included with your meal. read more

Took my wife and bosses there for a combined Birthday and celebration. It was out first time there, but we found it easy to make reservations in advance through Yelp. The decor is immaculate and very quiet. Everything is kept to its own so you never feel like you're being party to someone else's evening. The appetizers were absolutely incredible and their wine list is nothing short of mind blowing. While we chose to save Wine for another day, the server was more then happy to find us the perfect pairing for us novices and fanciers (my bosses) equally. The steak was absolute heaven!! The fact they even were willing to do or medium rare was astounding as most places won't even do it that low! Mac, cheese, truffles, broccoli!? Oh heck yeah ! Considering the quality of the food, the prices fall in fair balance. While it will be pricey if you're not expecting it, $60 a person before Wine for an unexpectedly delightful meal is about right and totally worth the visit. Definitely need to make reservations, but the experience is something to live at least once in your life. read more

This was a fantastic old school steakhouse experience. The quality of the steak was very good and cooked perfectly. They used some sort of light seasoning, however I found that one of the spices was a little dominating. This is a personal preference that I like a little salt and even less cracked pepper on my steak not any extra seasoning. Next time in town will definitely visit here again and ask to hold on the seasoning. The service was very friendly and took time at your table if this is something you are open to. I never found that the waiter crossed a personal line yet was very conversational, this is truly a talent in the service industry. The pricing for the salads were high especially considering that the crescent salad (wedge salad) was not very well done. The Caprese salad was well prepared and tasted good but was a little pricey for for two slices of tomato and buffalo mozzarella. The cocktail menu was extensive and had high hopes however was disappointed with the sazerac. Typically I enjoy chilled neat however was loaded with bar ice and tasted off. I think they either went really light on or didn't have peychaud bitters which is critical for this cocktail. Finally and almost more impressive than the steak quality was the actual venue itself. It has a ton of character and history to enhance the experience. read more
