They serve wonderful food here and enjoyed dining here on my last night in Winnipeg. I ordered: Bison Spring roll; which was as simple as wrapping bison meat in a spring roll wrapper and fried. Bison is a very lean meat and I thought it would be jerky like...not so, the meat was tender and the crispiness of the wrapping made for a wonderful appetizer. For my main, I chose the crepe with shrimp and spinach with French onion soup as the side. Lots of delicious bite here and the French onion is the best I've had since my last trip to France (with my family). To top off my meal I had the lemon hazelnut tart with espresso, a perfect ending...the tartness of lemon and the coffee and chocolate notes of espresso! The combo heavenly ! I'd recommend the lemon hazelnut even without the espresso...to die for. The ambience was eclectic and bohemian, and the service made me feel looked after...a good balance of being checked in with and left alone to enjoy my meal. My only complaint is the lack of of obvious parking near the restaurant . There was construction on the street facing the restaurant, I ended up finding parking around the neighborhood. Still though the restaurant was full of people and by the time I left was accommodating more people...I guess they all lived in the area? If you're not from the area parking will probably take away from a lovely experience. read more

I heard a radio station was at this restaurant's patio, and that the food was very delicious. I figured I would give it a try, even though you know that anyone there to advertise isn't going to let you know about any negatives. There was a band playing on the patio, and were they ever Loud!! So loud we decided to eat inside. The restaurant was full, so our choices of tables were not ideal. The staff was accommodating though, and did manage to find us a table we were happy with. The food was cooked as advertised in the menu, and the servers were very familiar with the menu. I am very sensitive to too much "spicy heat" and they helped me figure out how to ensure I got a meal I liked. We both liked the food we ordered, but it was on the pricey side, with our meals being between $60 - $75 each, Each of us had one drink, and we shared a dessert. The servers were on the slow side, but they were apologetic when I had to ask to get what I requested. They had a wide selection of desserts, all very tasty looking, but again on the pricey side, about $15 to $19 each. I do think I may return, but it might only be for a special occasion. read more

Went because of the mussels. Had a waitress on more than one occasion could be nicer -abrupt with an attitude. If we return I would request a table at the front by the windows. If had the same waitress I would ask for a different table or leave. read more

We have always loved this restaurant, great service and amazing food! Sadly, tonight was a total miss. Service was horrible, food took over an hour and a half to get to our table (3 people dining, 1 entree and 1 drink each) and when it did, it was cold. The server really did nothing to make us feel better about our meal, so we skipped dessert and sadly decided this might be our last meal here! read more

Wonderful menu with so many yummy options. I had a great jalapeño margarita. We had the stuffed chicken and it was so moist and had a great sauce. My partner had the chocolate raspberry dessert with chocolate ganache. We are so glad we chose this restaurant for dinner. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted a special dining experience. I wasn't to be. The service was spotty to non existent, a forty five minute wait between courses, and the food just barely warm when it finally arrived. I had the stuffed chicken breast and it was difficult to find anything but a tiny smidge of cheese inside. The chicken was dry and flavorless, and covered with a cranberry sauce that tasted like it came straight out of a tin. A very dissapointing experience. We started with the steak tartare with the traditional egg yolk on top which was very well done (and raw). The tartar itself was not seasoned at all, but they put many seasonings on the plate. The dish was served with small oblong toasts, salt ground black pepper diced onions anchovies capers and a mustard with balsamic sauce smeared on the plate. It was delicious. read more

Regret. My wife and I finally decided to eat out after months of pandemic oppression. The dependable, go to dishes were bland. But the saddest part was the service, I was looking forward to patronizing a Winnipeg institution and from the moment we sat down the waitress was cold and uncaring. The evening was a disappointment. We understand that staff shortages slow service, our server tried his best. The food was the problem! My beef medallions were 'OK', not worth the $30 plus price, but my wife's crepe was CRAP! Any restaurant calling itself a French bistro should be able to make a simple crepe. Not here! This place is not what it used to be. Went for lunch and ordered the lunch chicken crepe with soup. The soup was supposed to be broth based vegetables and chick peas. It arrived lukewarm; full of chick peas with one minuscule piece of carrot. The crepe was burnt and dried out on top and completely soggy on the bottom. Not very tasty. I sent it back and got the lunch salad instead. It was mediocre at best. Got my bill and was charged 3$ more for the change. Good service would equate minimally, the same price. In Ferno had been recommended by locals. The outside seating looked very nice, but we had opted for inside. It was a cozy, haphazard interior of an old house, with basic Formica tables. The weather had turned very nice and they were slammed, plus down one server. Our server never made it to us, so the manager took over and did a great job. The menu was full of great, imaginative options, plus there were 3 appetizer and 8 entree specials. I had bison rolls with a dipping sauce for my starter. They were savory, and the sweet-and-sour like sauce had a real kick and was the perfect compliment. Delicious. I then had the broiled salmon special. Perfectly done and nicely presented. It was served on a corn and grain medley that was a delicious compliment. Everyone with us, including two serious food people, loved what they had, including dessert. I didn't have dessert, but the ones at our table and those displayed at the hostess stand looked fabulous. They have a nice wine list with moderately priced wines. I was hoping for more Onkanagan Valley wine as I really like them and can't get them in the US. If you're looking for a "dining experience," go elsewhere. But if you're looking for really great, interesting food, I couldn't recommend it higher. read more

Inferno's is my favorite restaurant in Winnipeg. This is one restaurant that I've been going to for awhile and actually appreciate more for what it is throughout my travels in larger cities with a wider selection of restaurants. The food is always creative and delicious. I rarely eat meaty entree's, but have had a few of theirs and they always do it right, be it lamb, chicken or beef. I like packed, casual noisy bistros and this place pulls it off. The best thing about inferno's? The prices. I have never been to a restaurant like this with such reasonable prices. It's not in a "hot spot" of Winnipeg, so stick to the Exchange Dist or Osbourne Village if that's what you're after. I sat outside, was lovely. Service was excellent. This place gets very busy during weekends so you should reserve well in advance if you want to grab a seat during peak hours. The food here can be moderately priced to quite expensive. They had quite a large list of specials that ranged from ~$20 to $45. Their menu also has a wide range of prices with some soups/salads starting around ~$6 to $8 and going up to ~$45 to which some of their entrees are priced. Portion sizes are decent. The service here is pretty good. Water was refilled just when it needed to be and servers came by just enough so that it wouldn't seem like they weren't bothering us. I ordered the Moules et Frites ($17), Provencal style as well as a La Petite Salad ($6) with a Raspberry Champagne Poppyseed Vinaigrette to start. We received a bread basket to start which consisted of three different types of bread: Classic French Bread, Tomato/Onion Bread, and Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread. At first touch, the bread was cold so that was a bit of a disappointment. However, after tasting the bread, all disappointment disappeared. The latter two of the three different kinds of breads were DIVINE. They were soft, fluffy, flavorful and SOOO good. One could only imagine how much better they would've been if warm. After the bread, the starter salad came. Now I had quite the expectation for this salad due to the sophistication of how the dressing sounded. I mean, Raspberry Champagne Poppyseed Vinaigrette? How freaking awesome does that sound? So you can imagine the utter disappointment I had when I had my first bite of the salad. It was VERY bland with almost no flavor. The pine nuts on the salad were a good textural component but they were so overpowering. When eating the salad I couldn't taste anything but the pine nuts. Very disappointing. The sole cherry tomato on the plate was very juicy and flavorful though. There was a bit of a wait before the mains came but I did not mind this much even if I had that disappointing salad because the bread basket was divine. At first glance, the portion size of the Mussels was a good healthy portion while the amount of fries they gave was just wow. The mussels were large and plump and the broth was delicious. Fries were pretty standard. I only had a few problems regarding my main, they were: A) the mussels were QUITE sandy. If I were to estimate I'd say more than 20% of the mussels had sand into them. B) the food was a bit on the oversalted side. Under normal circumstances I'd comment to the server about these things but our server sooo cute and I just didn't have the heart to say anything. It should be noted that the male servers at Inferno's are quite the lookers! Hubba Hubba! If it hadn't been for the disappointing salad, salty food, and sandy mussels I would have given this a 4 star rating. Oh well. I will be back though because the food is very flavorful and the male servers are cute. Hopefully this time it won't include sandy mussels or salty food. read more

Tonight was my first time dining at infernos on des meurons and unfortunately I will not be coming back. The service was very disappointing from the beginning just trying to get seated. Our server did not seem happy to be there and let off a very negative vibe. It was difficult to get her attention as well. The basket of bread that was brought to the table was cold and stale. The bread had some traces of sauce on it so it must have been on a previous customer's plate and then passed on to our table. The meal was sub-par. I had the fettuccini with salmon. For $20 you would think it is a fresh salmon filet. Unfortunately it was smoked salmon or lux, not sure but it was dry and in pieces. It wasn't a good match with the pasta. Went there on a Saturday night and it was quite busy! Glad we had reservations! We were seated upstairs...our table was right beside another..felt like we were having dinner with them! Wanted to reach over a few times and ask if we could try off their plates! There were numerous specials that night...both of us had the bison special and were not disappointed! It did take awhile for our food to come but it was delicious...the bison was done to medium rare and just melted in your mouth! I was in the mood for a fish dinner and the special of the day was perfect. It was a pan-seared salmon filet topped with a grapefruit, fennel, blood-orange salad and served with a stuffed baked potato and broccoli and red cabbage side. Kori, my server, immediately brought out a bread basket with house-made cornbread and focaccia and a baguette from Le Croissant down the street. In short order she also appeared with my soup of the day, also included in the special, a creamy leek, potato, and bacon soup. I was not in the mood for wine but they seemed to have a pretty good variety of bottles on hand. Once I finished my soup, Kori brought out the salmon dish and I was not disappointed with my choice. The citris salad on the salmon really blended well with the seared and seasoned fish. The salmon was also perfectly cooked to be flaky and yet juicy. The other sides were also very complimentary to the main dish and cooked to perfection. My only slight disappointment was with the stuffed potato. Although very flavorful, it was a little dry and could have used a light sauce of some sort. Chef Fern Kirouac should be proud of his creations. I observed several other dishes presented to the tables around me and each appeared to be created with the same attention to detail, both visually and with unique flavor combinations. I doubt there is anything on the menu that would disappoint anyone with tastebuds. The service was also impeccable and I felt like one of the neighborhood regulars. Very friendly and not snooty at all. Pricing is also very reasonable. My special was $22.95 and I left completely satisfied and not able to contemplate the impressive dessert menu. read more

The appetizers we shared included steak tartare, trio des pate, and something else...tartare was solid, and the pates were ok... My entree was the artic char. The service was cery slow (there weren't many people when we arrived and it was STILL slow). I think one of the owners was serving us...she seemed overwhelmed. Inferno is really good except the place is a bit small and it gets very busy and hot inside with so many people. The food is great! And if you love creme brulee you'll love their cappuccino creme brulee! Reservation is recommended and even if you have one, you'd still have to wait. They have great Bellini but they tend to run out of many of the flavors. The soft drinks cost $3 and there's no refill on them, I found out after of course so you might as well get a Bellini for $6. read more

A nice fine dining French bistro near our new place in the French area St Boniface. Staff was friendly and well versed on explaining the food. The menu is upscale and the mussels and specials we had were very good. Lively place as seemed either a few parties and families out. Dessert pies in showcase are huge. Worst customer service I have ever received! Management failed to even take my displeasure at their restaurant! The server was rude and insulting! The server told me my English accent was awful... not sure that's fair considering that English is not my first language. It's left a bad impression of the lack of quality to their serving staff. Not sure what went wrong as this used to be my favourite place to eat but recently it's just made me sick and disgusted. Probably the WORST and SLOWEST SERVICE I have ever had to endure. We waited forever for our food(could it be a tactic of theirs to sell more alchohol!?!) and we asked for more bread, as we were starving, the surly waitress slamed a basket of bread on our table with the rude retort "That will cost you extra."
