We bought a new dining table and decided to put a glass top on it so as to protect the wood surface. The table is 54" X 54". We came across the 55 Glass website and found more than enough information to make a decision on what to purchase. We compared the information we found with other sites and found that most of what we already read on the 55 Glass website was scattered in bits and pieces of other websites. In other words, 55 Glass is very thorough in helping the customer. We decided on a 54" X 54" 3/8" glass with a pencil finish around the edges. Funny thing about the pencil finish is that a different glass shop that I had called previously said that the pencil finish is usually on round glass and to put it on a square piece would be custom and would cost extra and will most likely take more time to have made. 55 Glass gave me a really good price and said it would be finished in a few days. I ordered the glass over the phone with 55 Glass, which was a very quick process. The glass was ready in about a week. When we went to pick up the glass, the staff was very helpful in loading it into the Odyssey. I'm keeping this place in mind for all of my future glass needs. PRO: The overall experience was very straight forward and very smooth like any consumer transaction should be. I have to agree with all the good reviews here!!I purchased three computer desks in white color, so it is super easy to get dirts or stains on them. Just like any other wood products, these are definitely NOT water resistant. So I decided to buy some glass protector tops to keep them nice and neat. I did quite a bit of research and 55 glass had the best reviews. So I made a call, Dean was very friendly and helpful, it only took 5 mins to complete the order. Just like the other yelper said, do your own measurement in order to get the right tops! I am glad that Dean asked me to measure it myself. My desk says 48" x 24" from the factory, but when I measured it, it turned out to be 47 3/4" x 23 3/4". 1/4" can make a big difference when placing on top of the desk!!!!! So make sure you listen to Dean! I ordered it on Monday and received a call from another very nice person Cindy on Friday morning telling me my order was ready to pick up. Upon arrival, the staffs at the will call station came to me immediately to assist me, just as nice as Dean and Cindy. I live a bit far from 55 glass, took me 40 mins to get there and almost an hour to drive home because of the Friday traffic. But it was worth the drive because they have excellent service and the best price too!!! Initially there was a mixup with the finish date due to a holiday being sandwiched in the week. I had a party planned and was counting on my table being finished and it was but not until 2 hours before the party started and right before 55 closed. I was upset but Dean's response blew me away. Instead of having to wait until the next day or drive down during rush hour traffic and not make it back before the party was supposed to start, he offered to drive the glass up and meet me halfway. Great sales staff! They were very helpful and knowledgeable both times I've ordered from them. I had a 8' x 18" x 3/8" table topper made with clear tempered glass and it was precisely perfect. Tempering was a very small amount more, and well worth it IMO. See the photos! I also ordered a mirror for a Tansu style leaning mirror I built. The mirror is completely clean, with no visible distortions. Their prices are pretty good, I guess, but I don't have much experience ordering custom glass for my projects.
