After 2 weeks he thought he had a place secured only to be notified less than 24 hours to move-in that he now needed 3 letters of reference before he could move in. I went into Mama Bear mode and started making calls. Laurie was super helpful and understanding of the situation and went to work quickly. So I applied for this apartment roughly 3 years ago. The communication between me and the property manager that was helping me fill out my documents in order for me to move in was 100% open until I made my security deposit and it was time for me to sign my lease, he said that he would email me my lease agreement on Monday. Monday and I did not receive my lease agreement so I texted him no response I said OK maybe a busy day so Tuesday I call a text no response this went on for a whole week. I was supposed to move in the Friday prior, I was scream upset because I was banking on moving into this apartment. The professionalism was pathetic. I demanded my security deposit back and then he continue to ignore me. This was during the height of Covid, so I ended up having to come down to their office and demand my security deposit back there he met me with no viable excuse as to why he ignored me and tried to convince me to go ahead and move in. For 55 Trumbull, if you like to be stuck in the snow all day, no one to come clear it, then yes come live here. It is noon on a work day, and no one has come by, yet across the street it is clear as day, i could sleep on the concrete ground thats how clear it is over there at LAZ Parking. Yet here at 55 Trumbull street, the snow is up to my upper thigh! They do not care! if you call, they wont pick up. Not to mention there is no security guard, they come when they want to, so dont worry about being safe because its not! The property manager is non existent, the parking lot is never plowed, the security guard comes when they want, the doors are frequently unlocked so anyone can walk in. RUN FOREST RUN! read more

I Love my apartment! Lived here for 6 years and still can't get over the amazing views of Bushnell Park, the crazy high ceilings, and all the light that pours through the huge windows. I know what you're thinking: "Awesome! 55 On The Park is so much more affordable than most of the other downtown Hartford apartments! Wow! It's right on the park! The leasing agent seems so nice! Where do I sign!?". Reader, I was once like you. I lived down the street on Ann Uccello Street. Had a nice corner unit. Very quiet. But.....it didn't get much natural light and was $200 more. Maybe the first harbinger of things to come was when I started searching for the gym after moving in and a new neighbor interrogated me on whether I really belonged there. There are no strangers here, just grand inquisitors you haven't met yet. Then I saw the water fountains had gross stuff just left in there which no one seemed interested in cleaning. Next: "Oh, so, I have a 22 percent chance of finding a washer and dryer that is operational? So you're telling me there's a chance.............!?". My apt was an upgrade in sunlight but a major downgrade in size. A glorified studio which was worse than a studio because the wall which separated the bedroom destroyed any sense of open space. My leasing guy told me it was "780 square feet". Yeah no. Not sure what kind of new math they employ, but if it was 780 square feet, I'm a 6'11" NBA power forward. Now some problems were just bad luck. I moved into a small apartment 3 months before the pandemic. Covid wasn't PMC's fault (or was it?) but this made downgrading in size a massive miscalculation. Then there's the walls.........do you like your walls like Elon Musk likes his supermodels? White and paper thin? You're in luck! You're basically playing Russian roulette that you will get a decent neighbor. I had quiet neighbors until about 8 months into living there. Then my new neighbor's German Shepherd moved next door. I love dogs, but Cujo over there barked ferociously 24/7. But his owners weren't exactly mousey little wallflowers either. They CRANKED music and movies all hours of the night. One night they even left he music blasting when they weren't even home--the cops had no luck when they knocked on the door--and didn't turn it down till the next morning. My lease ended at the end of 2020. But we were in the pre-vax Covid world and in the middle of a massive surge so I got cold feet over leaving Hartford and taking the bus to work--I'm legally blind so don't drive. So I made the regrettable decision to renew my lease--for just six months--in a larger unit one floor down. Then spring came and I was stressing out over getting vaccinated (I worry too much) so when I got my lease renewal letter I put it aside thinking I can't stress out over moving issues. One thing at a time. In May I emailed management and said I was not planning to sign a new lease but could I possibly go month to month after June 30th since the place I wanted to move to didn't have current availability? No response. I tried again. Lost in cyberspace? Finally the assistant property manager replied and told me that since I didn't respond with my plans 60 days before the expiration of my lease, they had auto-renewed me for another year. I've lived in several different apartments and never before had anyone been so by the book about this. I pleaded with them. I asked if they could just let me go month to month for two months after June 30th. That would give them their 60 day notice and give them plenty of time to find a new tenant for my unit. Wasn't that a fair compromise for all of us? Crickets. Not up for discussion. Looking over the lease renewal letter, it did say at the bottom of page 2 that if I didn't respond within 60 days, my lease would be auto renewed. Buried. Just baiting people to miss the fine print (especially visually impaired residents) and get trapped into an auto renewed lease. Also after I had moved out of my first unit, they I owed 11 days of additional rent. I said but I moved on January 1st and moved into my new unit on the floor below. You know this. And I left the keys on the counter in my old unit-- also done in previous apts without issue.. They said it didn't matter. I didn't drop the keys off in the mail slot on Pearl Street so talk to the hand. Also, when I moved out of the first unit they said I owed $83.11 for my final electric bill. I said I already paid it. I wrote a check to the leasing guy on the day I signed the lease for my new unit--New Year's Eve . I then checked their own online portal and it showed a payment for $83.21 processed on January 3rd and labelled "final electric bill". I pointed this out to office staff. She said, "No, it's not saying what you think it is". "Well, what is saying?". No answer this writer could fathom. Finally I said, "You're saying it's a total coincidence that I paid $83.21 and there's a separate charge of $83.21 also labelled "final electric bill" in the portal?". She said, "Yes". Reader, she said yes. TLDR: if you can get past the thievery, entrapment, lying, gaslighting, and negligence, PMC isn't half bad! read more

My front door didn't close quite right--probably because this is an old restored building and the season is changing--But they came and shaved off a little of the door and it's perfect. I'm a current resident here, and I'm extremely unhappy with this management team. While the apartments themselves are very nice & spacious, there are many flaws within the building that haven't been addressed in the two years I've lived here. The biggest issue here is the laundry. I will give credit where its due and recognize new washing machines were installed within the last few months. With that said, the old washing machines, while not great, still worked. The dryers, on the other hand, never work. They stop halfway through and then you have to restart machine (and pay again) in order to finish drying your clothes. Therefore, it costs you double what you thought it would in drying. It may not seem like a lot at first, but it certainly adds up over the course of a month or year. We have called management about this issue time and time again and they never address our concerns or call back. Honestly, they should give each resident a monthly credit until these dryers are replaced. Next, snow removal is not great. I know the maintenance staff works really hard, so I hate to pin this on them. It's really a staffing issue more than lack of effort from their current staff. A few weeks ago, we had an ice storm, the sidewalks around the building were completely ice covered for days. It was very challenging to bring in groceries or take out our dog without falling. Almost a week ago we got a large snow storm, the back sidewalk & steps are still completely snow covered. Either management doesn't know, because they can't walk the two streets over from their office, or they simply do not care. Either way, it's a shame. Another fun thing that happened just last night was a pipe burst that left all residents standing outside in the cold from 11:15pm-12:00am with zero idea of what was going on. Once we were allowed back in, we were greeted by the fire alarm going off for another 10 minutes. I realize pipe bursts happen, but if they actually heated the hallways/stairwells, this likely could have been avoided. read more

Run as fast as you can! This property management in charge of this building and a couple other PMC Properties are the biggest crooks you will encounter in your life. You expect horror stories only in movies, but it becomes reality when you deal with PMC. No matter how nice the sales agents may seem, or the high ceilings and downtown location, none of these are worth the potential headaches and legal battles you may find yourself in. This company management lies about tenants owing them $, thus placing you in a position to either pay them or spend more $ on a lawyer. They also never refund deposits. They also begged me not to sue them for numerous privacy violations (yes they enter your apartment without permission when you're not home, make sure you set up a hidden camera if you decide to live there). read more

We are on our third year as a tenant. Our agreement ends in July 2017 and we are very much done. Each time we wanted to review this place in the past we told ourselves to wait and give another (99th) chance. The management is beyond repair. They are rude and don't get anything done. AC, the dishwasher, windows, and a lot of electrical problems, every time we made maintenance request we rarely get a response (and when we do its usually after multiple phone calls and in person pleading). Our last request (emergency) haven't got any response and two months are passing and we have made multiple calls. We usually have to find our own solution, its baffling. The only thing kept us this far was the location (close to Bushnell park, our daughter love it) and I love the high ceiling. THE WORST PROPERTY OFFICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!!!!!! I can't even begin to explain the horrendous service you will receive. They never answer any of the office phones and I have called 5-10 times to ask about getting a charge on my account that was wrong taken off. Still haven't called me back or fixed it. The maintenance company is great but the RUDE TERRIBLE people that work in the office ruin the entire company for me. An absolute nightmare. No heat for two weeks, no hot water for a week and a half, appliances were never fixed (2 of four burners didn't work, dishwasher didn't work at all, and dryer didn't dry our clothes), and the office staff ignored our calls or were incredibly rude if we tried to complain. It got so bad that we felt forced to file a complaint with the city of Hartford (of which they were found guilty and were fined). When we got our security deposit back- even though I spent an entire afternoon scrubbing everything and took pictures of how everything was left incredibly clean- $150 fee was still taken from our security deposit for cleaning they claimed they had to do! Not to mention the neighborhood is really dangerous. I got my tires stolen and car windows were smashed and my fiance was mugged! DON'T LIVE HERE!!! read more

I had the pleasure of living at 55 On the Park for about a year and a half before having to move out of state for work on very short notice. My favorite part about the apartment is that it always felt unique, and never cookie cutter. Some features of my apartment included an open concept floor plan, nearly 20-foot ceilings, a kitchen island, a large living space (plenty of room for my 6 foot+ couch and 60-inch TV), a large bedroom (plenty of room for a king size bed, and desk that allowed me to work comfortably from home). It is also worth mentioning that due to the high ceilings in the building, my sixth floor apartment was equivalent to the 10th story of many of the surrounding buildings in Hartford. In addition to the space, the amount of natural light and views were incredible. I looked out over Bushnell Park, could hear the fountain when I opened my windows, and could also see the Capital Building. I always felt safe in the building and the neighborhood and had nothing but pleasant interactions with the other tenants. The parking lot attached to the building (you get a discount as a resident if you park there) has an attendant present 24 hours a day and the lobby of 55 has a security guard present in the evening/late night - both provided peace of mind if returning home at night. The building improved tremendously while I was a resident. The hallways were renovated and now look like you're walking through a nice hotel on your way to your apartment. As for the management, I always had quick responses and action when submitting my requests online. In particular, they replaced my hot water heater with a brand new model one day after attempting to fix my older model. The gentlemen who take care of maintenance are very friendly and work hard. I would highly recommend contacting Eriq Johnson if you are interested in renting at 55. He is friendly, knowledgeable and really knows the building and the neighborhood. Eriq was a big factor in me renting as he took the time to explain what it's like living in the Bushnell Park neighborhood. He clearly has a passion for his work and made the process about as easy as possible. After deciding on 55, I was in my apartment in a matter of days. Eriq was also the person I chatted with to make sure I had all my ducks in a row before having to move on short notice. This wasn't his obligation, but rather something he was happy to do to make sure I had a good experience start to finish. My final note about 55 On the Park is that the rent is incredibly reasonable. Especially when you consider: park views, central air, proximity to restaurants, bars, theater and baseball games. You'll also be about a 5 minute walk from Amtrak and a short Uber ride to Bradley International Airport. Having grown up here, I hope more people will give Hartford a chance. Lived here for two years. Electricity was always 65-100 a month. Recent bill October to November was 600! When inquired the management said they "changed the meters" bc they were broken. Who discovered this I asked? The electric company who is the only electric company that services PMC properties. When I called the "electric company" the person was rude, hostile and condescending. Basically said, PMC changed the meters. PMC of course will send my complaint to their "main office." Feels like a case of price gouging and have contacted the Mayor and Senator Blumenthal and have filed a complaint with the Department of consumer protection. I think this "meter swap" was a way for PMC to increase their percentage of revenue from the electric company who they probably have a deal with. If you are a current tenant and had the same experience please contact the Department of Consumer Protection. This is a typical PMC Property Group building. The management company is based out of Philly, so if you rent here, you'll only have access to the leasing agents who are impossible to work with. They'll do everything they can to get you into the apartment, and come across very helpful. However, once you're in, and they have their commission, they won't give you the time of day. Both leasing agents, Salena and Paul, live in the building, and are just rude. Don't expect a hello, a smile, or even eye contact when you pass them in the lobby. A prime example of the poor management and facilities of the building would be the elevators. There are two working elevators in the building. Periodically, one will break and the whole building will be relying on the sole working elevator, which is fine and understandable when it happens once in a while. However, this past winter, one broke for close to 6 months. Management never gave an update on the status of the broken one, when it would be fixed, if anyone was looking into it, etc. Then of course, with people moving in and out of the building, the one elevator would periodically break as well leaving the tenants to walk up and down the flights of stairs (2 flights per floor due to the high ceilings.) This was bad enough after a day of work, or a night out on the town. But if you had a pet that needed walking, or you yourself were handicapped or disabled, there was very little assistance. This happened multiple times, and sometimes for multiple days. Also, the apartments look nice, but the appliances are as cheap as they get. And the community washers rarely work properly. You pay to use them, so it gets irritating watching the timer tick away your money without the machines doing anything. This of course was not PMCs responsibility for some reason, so there was no help. Everyone in the building fought to use the half dozen washers and dryers that were most reliable. Then, when you finally move out, good luck getting your deposit back. It takes at least a month, and it's like pulling teeth. You can certainly contact them via email to get the status of your refund, but expect to email them at least 3 times to get one response back. The one silver lining was maintenance. All the maintenance staff are very friendly and responsive if you have any issues. The building may look nice from the outside, and the apartments are large and spacious, but the lack of amenities, cheap appliances, and worthless management aren't worth the hassle. There are better options out there in the area, steer clear of the PMC properties. read more

terrible management!!!!!!!! stay away. had an a/c leak with standing water for 10 days and mold- management wanted to do nothing about this. they offered for me to 'pay to have my carpet redone'. a typical example of the lengths this management goes to help with problems. don't waste your time or money. building has mold in the mail room, elevators break often, washing machines never work. 777 main and front st. are better bets by far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
