NOTE: The new management company, called Eagle Rock, is way worse than Westgate! Just don't, you…read morewill regret it.... I don't recommend this place at all, here's a just a few reasons why... There is an inch wide crack all the way around the doors to the hallway and the wind whistles through the door all night in addition to letting in the hallway light and all the hallway smells. The hallway always smells terrible, both from people living in the building with incontinence issues and the laundry room vents into the hall. Bugs enter the apartment through the hallway door, spiders, stink bugs, earwigs... The windows do not shut tight we and the wind whistles through the windows. The windows leak water into the apartment during a rain storms. Birds live in air conditioner and wake you at 4 AM. Outdoor lights in the courtyard never go off so they shine in all night. KITCHEN: The kitchen sink was installed with very cheap fixtures that lacked gaskets so water leaked down under the sink. The dishwasher leaves debris on the dishes so every load needs to be rinsed off. The garbage disposals are ancient and don't grind. If your unit has a washer/dryer... the washer tears your clothes and the dryer vents INSIDE causing massive dust in the apartment. The stove also vents inside, putting grease everywhere. Other people have said this -- they raise the rent - a LOT, every lease renewal!

Westgate was the first apartment I lived in when I moved to the area, or should really say, first…read moreplace I lived on my own. I lived in a studio from 2007-2011, which had a hallway, huge closets, and a humongous bathroom. The grounds were kept immaculately and the location was sheer perfection. Maintenance were very friendly gentlemen. When my fridge stopped working, they were quick to replace it with a newer one. When the ceiling fell out in the kitchen, they fixed it too. I used to walk to Stop and Shop, CVS, Dunkin' Donuts, and Boston Market all the time. The Chinese restaurant, Tasty, was a delicious convenience for me. They would throw two parties a year; a holiday and a summer cookout! The leasing office for the most part was very nice to me, except when I tried to negotiate the price. A bus stop is in front of the complex in case you don't have a car. The one-star deduction was for the price. These are very, very expensive apartments. The starting price for the studio is about two hundred dollars more per month than my last year rent. For the price, they should include a hot tub in the pool area and built a gym in the basement. Though I felt like I had no disposable income when I lived there, I felt it was worth living in a safe, convenient and beautiful place. I moved out solely because I could not afford (and I had decidedly to move in with my boyfriend). I do recommend Westgate if you make lots of $$$$$, but don't want the commitment of home ownership. Westgate was a wonderful experience for me.

What's made my experience…read moreliving here such a bad experience already is poor customer experience from the property management. Delphi literally now ignores emails on concerns with making this living experience here peaceful for everyone. The problem with this building outside of how nice it may look from the outside is poor installation which means if you have noise from neighbors above or below you. That's not so bad if we all respect the neighbors around however, when you have neighbors that like to run stomp scream and play loud music you will have no peace in your own home that you pay rent. Does management care... absolutely not by actions. They will send a generic message to all neighbors just to make it look as though they care but instead of directly reaching out that specific tenant they start ignoring emails forcing you to then get law enforcement involved. Before signing a lease here please be aware you may experience neighbors that don't care about anyone but themselves and choose to disrupt the neighbors around and nothing will be done. Forcing you to take legal action because no one is going to be force to live daily in disrupt and pay rent. Management doesn't care they just care about occupying the units. You have been warned and I wish I had this same warming prior.

AVOID THIS PLACE. I may not have complained if this place was $900-1000 a month but for $1500 and…read morestill a mile from WH center it's a complete ripoff. My wife moved into the place after only having a video tour of the apartment. While there are a few nice things about the apartment (nice hardwood floors, good refrigerator), the majority of the place is a dump. The photos they show on their website are dressed up and misleading. The website touts its 1920s charm...yeah that means nothing outside of the units has been fixed since 1920. They also only highlight two buildings (built in the 20s) but there is a third as well built in the 60s or 70s which is your typical brick building with no "charm". The building reeks inside. The hallways stink like feet sometimes and a dirty diaper other times. The entire apartment smelled like stale cigarettes. We couldn't open a cabinet in the entire place without being smacked in the face with a cloud of cigarette stink. We had a wash every item of clothing once leaving. Likely mold as well. Ran a mold test because one of us is allergic and within 4 hours the test started growing mold. The flooring in the bathroom and kitchen and the cabinets are the cheapest stuff you can buy. There was trim missing. The windows were old and leaked anytime it rained. The one AC unit in the place was insufficient to cool more than 40% of the apartment and there was no way a window unit could be put in. When we got to our apartment we found the door without a deadbolt and a lock that barely kept the door closed. They promptly fixed that but that didn't even mention the 2 inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor so light was streaming in at night. Oh and we couldn't close our bedroom door because it was too hot to do so. I can't speak for the other apartments in other buildings but their upkeep was suspect at best. The hallways were dirty, musty and smelly. In one of the buildings pieces of the building had literally fallen off and landed on the entrance roof below. They also list garages and a parking structure but there is only a parking structure so I don't know why you would lie about that. Seriously rent at your own risk. You will be extremely disappointed.

I was looking around for a place to move in for March 2014 and found this place as I was driving around the West Hartford center. The placement of this apt community is such a big benefit considering the neighborhood, shops, restaurants and everything. That is what caught my experience. But my experience was so bitter and I wish no one else go thru this. My roommate & I felt so discriminated and the property manager gave us a feel that she did not want us to get an apt in that community. It is all about the location that wanted me to submit an application. Even without seeing an apt and just looking at the floor plan my roommate & I decided to submit an application here. We gave all the documents + a check with a holding deposit for $100.00. The next day the lady from the leasing office called and said my application is rejected as the back ground check came back with criminal hits. That surprised me and my roommate. A couple of days later we get the rejecting latter from the management with the details. We took the letter and went to the police stations and the superior courts from 4 different towns as the back ground verification reports stated the crime were done in 4 towns (Hartford, New Britain, Middletown & Meridian). We spent almost $24 - $40 at each of the superior courts to gain the report to show that it was not either of us that was being referenced in the back ground verification report provided by Brooksyde Apartments. After a few days I call the leasing office and mention the same to the agent and she tells me that yes it is not us and there was a human error with the company that performed the back ground verification. W.T.F!! so much for customer care and future residents. This was the most ridiculous that I have EVER been treated in this country. Added to all this, when I had initially submitted the application, the rent quoted to me for a 2BR apt was $1,250 and a 2BR townhouse was $1,350. So after all the drama about the human error with the back ground check, I asked the leasing officer regarding resubmitting the application and she tells me that the prices have gone up from $1,250 and $1,350 to $1,450 and $1,550 or something and when I mentioned that these were not the prices that were quoted to me when I initially submitted the application. For no fault of mine and for an error that the apartment committed, I said they should acknowledge the old prices that I was quoted. The leasing officer upright declined and said she cannot honor that. She was so freakin rude and all through our conversations she gave me and my roommate a feel that she did not want to rent us an apt and we felt very discriminated. In a way I am grateful that I did not get this apt as I cannot imagine how would it be after one moves in here and have to call for any maintenance help. Based on my personal experience, PLEASE STAY AWAY from this community. Read the other reviews on this community in other websites and none have anything good to say other than the location.
