My neighbor was watching TV loudly until 5 am. 4) Stolen Amazon packages 5) Not-delivered USPS mails, several times, causing huge penalty and loss 6) Turning on/off the fan for heat MANUALLY, I must wake up several times during the night. Leasing office told me turn on the fan and open the window and sleep. 7) If you leave in the second day of month after your lease, you must pay for entire month, NOT prorated, NOT mentioned in lease! 8) VERY very loud music from neighboring buildings!!!! Even at midnight 9) Several polis presences in tower for arrest or investigation 10) One elevator was out-of-order 3 month in Summer, a few days both elevators broken 11) Dangerous neighborhood, I could not go out in nights. 12) HVAC is very old and cannot cool. 13) Hospital in other side of street, a lot of ambulance noise. 14) Boiler noise for 5 months of year, even for high floors. read more

We had a pleasurable experience living in the building. All the amenities were there under one roof. Maintenance staff kept up with keeping all the common areas clean. Location is great too. We had to move out of the area because of work but if we go back we will definitely consider renting here again. read more

I've lived here for 3 years now with my fiancé and we are so comfortable and content. The property management team is super responsive and genuinely cares about their residents, unlike many others I've experienced in the past. The cleanliness and upkeep of common areas is also a huge thing for us and management does a great job at keeping things clean and in tact. I truly would recommend Park View to couples looking to start their lives together or families who are looking for a comfortable, clean and safe place to raise their children. living in this building for two years now has been a phenomenal experience. everything is always quick and easy, and moving in was always being looked over and assisted by staff. i appreciate the cleanliness that has a consistent schedule in the building, and i have never had one complaint. I've been living here for almost a year now, and I've had no problems. Management is very nice and helpful. I live in the studio apartment, and it's a perfect size for me. I think the price is worth it for how close to downtown I am. I've never seen any bugs, or had any issues with that. I really enjoy living here. read more

I came here to check out an apartment. I thought everything was great, even though this is an old place. I believe the one issue was roaches, which I know many places in these areas of Hartford are commonplace for rodents and other pests. However, I was almost sold on getting an apartment here until I found out the parking situation..... They said "gated parking." hahahahahahaahahahahaha! You know what that meant? You know those long, wooden things that go up and down to let cars in and out? Yeah.....THAT is what they meant! lol. People told me about thefts around there, so I was all set. For the money it's a gem in the middle of crappy Hartford. I've lived here for about 2 years, any complaints I've had have been addresses in a timely manner. The parking situation can get out of hand at times. The idiot in the adjoining lot stickered my roommates car which he pays $50 a month for the privilege. And I'm sure there are the low class who park there without getting a guest pass making it even more difficult. If they organized and policed the parking better, banned the annoying little dogs allowed in the building, I could recommend it even further. They only have studios and one bed rooms, so I'll move out at some point, but the pool, gym, and on site laundry has always been nice. I had a new carpet, and a breakfast bar put in before I moved in, so overall I have no real complaints. Good for single professionals and college students. read more

Lived here for 2 years during grad school and I couldn't have been happier. The management was always very accommodative and understanding with various circumstances that arose while I lived there, in order to make my stay as stress-free as possible. If I ever needed repairs, I would go down to the front desk, tell them what I needed and by the end of the day or next, the maintenance guys would be knocking on my door to take care of it. Even when I needed an AC unit during the first summer I was there, within an hour of my request they came up to install a new one. As for the area, while I had heard it could be rough and somewhere I'd have to get used to since I had never lived in the city before, I never felt unsafe or had any issues. Asylum Ave could be a tad loud at times, but I just felt safer living on a main street vs a side street. Having the laundry room in the basement was really convenient and I miss it now that the place I live in doesn't have that. Location was awesome being kind of on the edge of Hartford and West Hartford. Made it really convenient and easy getting anywhere. My only critique would be the interior of the lobby is a bit dated and the hallways could use some new carpeting. But really these things aren't that important once you get to and from your room. I was in a studio apartment that was far more space than I needed and the price was far better than anywhere else I could find. Also, after moving in and talking to my classmates, it was definitely better than anything they were able to find as well. As for potential noise from people next door I never really heard them. Conclusion: Definitely, the best bang for your buck and would highly recommend living here. If I hadn't moved out of state I would be still there. read more

I loved this place. I lived there for about 4 years and it was great. The rent was cheap. There's a pool. No problem with neighbors. The maintenance was good about fixing anything that broke -- only had a couple problems with my stove. And when I was moving out, there were very helpful by letting me stay month-to-month for about 3 months as I was preparing to move out of state. Highly recommended. I have no idea why people pay so much to live downtown...this is much, much better. read more

I lived here for a year and I have had nothing but a good experience. I live in a large studio and this is the first time I have ever lived on my own. When I first inquired about an apartment, the staff was incredibly friendly and answered any and all questions that I had. I was also given a tour of each of the vacant units and was given an idea of potential layouts that others had used in the past. Management has been and continues to be great. Whenever you need something fixed or looked at in your apartment, they are there the same day. The Tennant's are also rather friendly and respectful of others. I've never had a problem with loud music or parties. The grounds men also do a very good job of taking out the trash daily and vacuuming the hallways floors weekly. PVT gets a 4/5 simply because One of the elevators stalls every other day. Management has had someone come out to fix it repeatedly but it still stops working. Another issue is the parking lot during the winter. They plow religiously but I do think they could be better about salting it better. I've almost slipped a couple of times. read more

I've lived here almost a year now, and there aren't any recent reviews, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm an actual tenant and i moved to Hartford for work. This building's about a 15-20 min walk from downtown Hartford and a 3-5 minute drive. While it's not as flashy as the buildings downtown, you get a lot more for less money and it's obviously well taken care of despite the dated style. I'm in a large studio, which I turned into a one bedroom with a walk-in closet with the help of a bookshelf and some curtains. Tons of closet space, and the apartment is about 500sqft. The maintenance and front desk staff couldn't be sweeter; they know my name and apartment number, respond quickly to maintenance requests (which I only had immediately after moving in and when I needed my AC put back in for summer), and always say hello when they see you. I wasn't thrilled about the almost white wall to wall carpeting when I moved in, but they steam cleaned it TWICE before I moved in because I mentioned off hand that I had allergies. AND they installed a new toilet seat in my apartment before I moved in; odd, but a nice touch. All utilities except electric are included in rent (and rent is super cheap comparatively), and a window AC comes with all apartments. And for those of you who think utilities included means crappy utilities, think again: you can control the heat in your apartment up to 90 degrees in winter once they turn it on and water is steaming hot seconds after turning on the faucet. I actually had to put a sign on my bathroom sink so visitors wouldn't burn themselves. And I know there are some ratings sites out there that claim this place has a pest problem, but in my experience, that's completely false. Management has a pest control company come in twice a year to check each apartment and seal up any cracks/problem areas that could let creepy crawlers in, and they empty the trash rooms on each floor multiple times a week before they have a chance to build up. are there downsides? well, some, but they're all really minor. the parking situation can get annoying with the number of cars in the lot, but it's a huge lot so you'll get a spot, even if it's not in your favorite section. access to the pool is erratic sometimes because if someone closes the door, then management has to be found to open it BUT I don't know of any apartments downtown with a pool. I do wish the apartment was closer to downtown so getting home after late nights wouldn't be as far, but due to the lower rents, I have more money to spend downtown. One thing, it is across from St. Francis Hospital and there's a firehouse around the corner. I'm a city girl, so the noise of sirens doesn't bother me and I find it comforting to have those things close by, but it's something to consider for those who want quiet. The walls aren't too thick either (I've heard my neighbor singing and sneezing before), but I don't mind that too much. All in all, I think it's an option to definitely check out before ditching Hartford for West Hartford or Manchester (unless you want more suburban living). read more

I lived in Parkview Tower Apartments for about 3 years before recently moving out, first in a large studio and then in a one-bedroom. First, the good: -Management is usually friendly and helpful. -Maintenance always came within a day or two whenever I had something that needed to be fixed. -The building is kept clean. -Parking lot, pool, laundry room, and fitness center on site. -Walking distance to downtown Hartford, and close to West Hartford center. -Heat, hot water, and cooking gas included in rent. -Good size apartments for the price. -Residents seem friendly, for the most part. -New windows were put in recently, and are a huge improvement over the old ones. Second, the bad: -My floor ALWAYS smelled like garbage. There's 1 trash room on every floor with 2 garbage cans for 17 apartments. -The stairwells made me feel like I was in prison. -Fitness center leaves a lot to be desired, but to be fair they did attempt to improve it during my time there. -No change machine in the laundry room. -St. Francis Hospital is across the street, so you'll hear sirens a lot. -Plumbing seems to be the least-maintained thing in the building. My shower was constantly clogging every week or two, and the basement floods in heavy rains. -Thin walls, especially in the bathroom. -Pool only gets sun for about 3 hours a day, so it's always freezing cold. -My mail was constantly getting sent back to the sender with an "address doesn't exist" label. Office said it was an issue with USPS, USPS said it was an issue with the building office. I would also get mail intended for 4 other people, who I assume lived there before me, even though management makes it clear that you won't get your mail without your name on the mailbox. -The outlets in my apartments were very loose. I could hardly ever get a two-prong plug to stay in the outlet. Finally, the ugly: -THE PARKING LOT. By far, the worst part of living in this building is the parking. You get one parking pass no matter how many people live in your apartment or how many cars you have. People just park wherever they want, including in the middle of the lot (where there are no parking spaces). Apparently, they have hired a towing company to try to fix this, but I have never seen a single tow truck in the lot, and people continue to park anywhere. The security is a joke. Although it technically is a gated lot, the gate is broken all the time, and when it does work, it's up most of the day. You can also easily walk right around it. Plus, the advertised 24-hour CCTV surveillance is a gimmick. I know this because my car was broken into in the parking lot, and when I asked for the security footage, they said the cameras are just for show and don't actually work. The lot is also shared with St. Francis employees, so there's almost never anywhere to park close to the building. I have no problem walking a little farther, but the back part of the lot is sketchy and poorly lit. If there's a snow storm, it's even worse. You would think living in New England they would be prepared for snow, but it takes a long time for it to be plowed. Overall, I give Parkview Towers 3/5. Decent for the price, but not great. read more

I lived in these apartments for three years and overall had a great experience. The place is clean, doesn't have roach or rodent problems (at least since I moved in in 2010), largely very quiet and definitely affordable. I never had the rent raised on me, staff is friendly and helpful, and there's a pool, gym and laundry room onsite. Every once in a while you'll hear your neighbors, but if you live in an apartment building that's pretty much unavoidable. I only had to call management once (again I reiterate, I lived there for three years) for a clogged drain that I couldn't unclog myself and they came to fix it the very next day. Parking can be an issue, but it seems that they've recognized the problem and hired an outside company to help police the situation. Noise outside, as someone previously mentioned, can be a nuisance since the hospital and firehouse are right around the corner. I can sleep through pretty much anything, so it wasn't a problem for me. My largest complaint (and it's pretty silly) is that there isn't a change machine in the laundry room. You have to either collect your quarters or buy a $10 roll at stop and shop. The only reason I moved out was because A. I took a job in New Haven and B. the BF, cat and I couldn't all live in a studio together. read more

Very bad and unsafe apartment building. My car wheels got stolen in the parking lot. Also the management will increase the rent every year without any reason. Alveolars always not working, not to mention the 24/7 pot smell. Also, there is always something wrong with the hot water in the morning. Pool just is just to show off because it's only open for 2 months during the summer. Moreover, it's only for tenants "they asked my girlfriend to leave the pool area even though I was with her". What ever they called fitness room in the basement!!! It's a real joke and it's from 80's nothing works in it, because the flooded after each havy rain that happened in the basement. Recently, the mangment rented it out half of the parking lot for sant Frances's hospital and start sharging the tenants $5 per day for visitor parking pass "used to be free". In short the manger "George" and his staff will be nice to you until you sign the rental contract then they will suck the money out of your pocket.
