My 2018 Honda Civic kept showing "Not Ready" because I don't drive much since I work from home. Gregory patiently explained the situation and told me to drive more and come back. He was honest, knowledgeable, and never once tried to scare me into taking my car to the dealer. He said he's been doing this since 1987, and you can tell. This is the kind of old-school customer service that's hard to find these days. After my car finally passed, Gregory even gave me a complimentary car wash next door, which was such a thoughtful gesture. After the week I'd had, the little smiley-face air freshener from the car wash actually made me smile. Most people only write reviews when something goes wrong. However, last week when I went to renew my registration, I realized I had to do a smog check in order to complete the process. W H A T!?!?! I panicked because I have never gotten a smog check before AND my registration was literally due in a days. I paid for the fees and went right on to Yelp to start my search. There were many places through out the SGV and OC around me, all had very reasonable prices. However, not all of them were opened on Sundays. I was already on my way to Rowland Heights to run some errands so I decided to stop by Smog Test Only Discount Center nearby just to see if they would accept walk ins. Thank Goodness they were opened until 2pm and only had 1 customer before me. The total time spent was approximately 30 minutes and total cost was $55 (accepts Cash, CC, Zelle). Maria helped me and she was SO nice! I am not sure if I may need another smog check anytime soon, but I do plan on referring friends and family here if they ever need one. The owner stated that my diagnostic port was not working and offered to fix it. Which was odd, because I recently went and had a diagnostic test done on it. So I say okay how much would that be? he stated 10 dollars. I agreed, then he found that the fuse was missing. He then said I'll give you the fuse. I say okay great thank you. So he proceeds with the test. There is no further conversation. My truck passes then he says 50 for the test, 10 for the fuse, 3 for using Apple Pay. At this point is when things go wrong. I tell him 10 dollars for the fuse? he says no 10 dollars for the KNOW HOW. I say the know how? He says yes would you have known what fuse it was. Which is very demeaning. I take pride in knowing my vehicle and am very hands on. I let him know that I didn't need his know how as I could have just replaced the fuse myself and brought the vehicle back. I felt taken advantage of and normally would just say okay and pay but I felt that it was wrong.

I paid $58 which includes the test and certificate. Last year they offered a $10 coupon. I missed this year's coupon of $8 off which expired 2/28/26. I swung by at noon today (Friday) there were 2 customers ahead of me. My car was serviced at 12:21pm and was done at 12:28pm. I paid cash as I believe there's a small fee if you pay with a card. There's a waiting area, but I don't know if there's a restroom. ( I didn't need to use it)

When we arrived there, we didn't get a greeting in any way. We asked for a smog check and the guy (possibly the owner) stated that we will be next. While we were sitting around, I was browsing around yelp and noticed that this place offers a coupon discount on smog check. It states "must present coupon prior to service". When he pulled up with a paper for a signature, I mentioned this discount to him and he told me that I needed to show him that when I came in. It doesn't specifically state on the coupon that I needed to show the coupon when I come in. Plus, he didn't even start the service on my car yet. He was really rude about it after and told me he is losing money if he decided to give me the promotion and he can't just adjust the price after printing out the paper. There was also no apologies. If he wants to do business correctly, he needs to own what is said on the coupon and not just change it last minute. I just felt bad vibes throughout this experience and left with a sour taste in my mouth. I ended up paying almost $60 for this smog check which I could've done for cheaper at another place. The service was fast though. That was the only thing good about it. I will not be coming back to this establishment.
