Got 3 coffees and a can of soda. The soda was good. I couldn't say there was actually any coffee in the cups

I can't tell you if it was good---I never can tell if regular coffee is good by coffee-lover standards. It was just OK to me. We shared an apple fritter and a cream-filled donut. The fritter was light and airy, which was a nice change from the dense, heavy fritters I've grown accustomed to. The filled donut was adequate. White fluff-filled donuts are my go-to, but the cream didn't quite strike the right chord with me. Whatever it was I didn't like about it, that's what my husband raved about! This review suddenly doesn't feel very helpful. If you want a hometown coffee shop with cute decor, decent coffee, and assorted baked goods, this fits the bill! The staff was friendly and helpful, as well. That means a lot! Seating is limited---maybe 20-25 seats in all---so just be prepared.

It still feels like playing roulette everywhere I go, so I prefer to make my own at home. I just cannot do caffeine. I mostly go to shops like this to feel like a human out doing something. The coffee tastes good, but 'm docking a star because even as I type this after leaving, I can feel the not fun effects of caffeine. It can be hit or miss with consistency of what constitutes a large and how milky your drink is, the prices seem to vary from visit to visit, and I often don't recognize the employees. High turnover? There is no public restroom which can be an issue whilst consuming beverages. Aroma also charges a fee if you pay with plastic, so I try to carry cash. I recall being charged for a cup of ice for my herbal tea in the past. Sometimes the tables aren't so clean and the baked goods case can have flies in it. It's looked better this summer. The wooden chairs can be wobbly. Overall it has decent atmosphere. It smells good like caramel when you walk in. There are two metal tables with cafe chairs as well as a bench outside, weather permitting. Rat Pack & classical outside. When music is on inside it's a different genre. The hours can be funky especially in winter or even be unexpectedly closed, but they are never open past 5 PM. Peru rolls the sidewalks up pretty early. I do like that they offer plant milk and have decaf without a weird lecture like the place around the corner... They usually have soy and almond. No coconut, but I usually go with soy lately anyway. Raw sugar, stevia for Lydia, and at least one decaffeinated tea. The baristas I've had recently were pretty pleasant. They have an array of baked goods including bagels and some other food and drink things in a refrigerated case. I've not ever tried the food myself though it looks good. I'm assuming it's local artwork which I've seen for sale on the walls along with handmade jewelry, mugs. They have a sandwich board for a donation program where you can buy a coffee for someone in need. Aroma has loyalty punch cards as well. You can enter the bakery next door through an adjoining door. Walking past I saw the case next door had cupcakes and heard a cake order being taken. So, while Aroma has flaws and I've been to better in other towns, the prices are pretty reasonable for this century and the atmosphere is alright. Cozy and on the Bohemian side. I don't go running there with excitement, but it's alright to sit and chat, especially when it's not crowded, which it often isn't. I like the downtown location.

I was initially excited to try Blended. I was tired of the other small handful of downtown…read morebusinesses which serve beverages. I'd heard of this place through an acquaintance and her posts online even when it had a different owner and another name but was also a "nutrition" shop. Most seem to take things to-go here. There are some stools where you can sit at a "bar," but it's lacking in ambience and decor. Unfinished might be the right word. The turquoise stools with backs are the most comfortable but aren't always available. Those are more functional and cuter than the backless black stools which don't match. It's not much of a hangout but has potential. I made more than several regular visits here. Jenny was particularly friendly. My stamp card is almost full. I'm disappointed though because I explained my dietary needs more than once and didn't realize until I bought a product for home use that I was consuming things that I not only don't want to ingest but also give me health issues. While I was able to bring it in for a refund from the individual person whom sold it to me, (Kayla?) I had to go through that particular lady. She was more apologetic and sympathetic than the owner. The lemonade mix contained gelatin, dairy, and was labeled bio engineerd. The girls had done a good job steering me away from caffeine, but these other ingredients were bothersome. The aloe "shots" which were the only vegan item at the time, it turned out, also contain artificial sweetener, the same chemical in Splenda. While I had fun here for a while, enjoyed the drinks, and the proprietor said they expected to get vegan items in around Saint Paddy's Day, I'm not too thrilled about returning anytime soon if ever now. I could get past the drinks not being consistently made depending on who was available. Ingredients were also sometimes out, such as the graham cracker stuff that goes in the bottom of the blueberry cheesecake protein shake, which was my favorite along with the berry lemonade, and mango aloe. I can't get past not properly being informed of what the drinks contained. Considering the pretty high prices, I didn't feel valued in the end after all my visits. While I have no issues with multilevel marketing per se, it has a bit of a shady feeling as to how it's not really openly talked about here. I'd found out it was an Herbalife MLM online. It's also why I had to deal with an individual for my home product refund. The owner was going to take my bag and leave it for that person with a note, but I chose to take it with me and return another day because it felt odd. The interaction lacked any customer care. This is yet another business in downtown Peru which sells beverages but offers no public restroom to customers. This and the early closing hours of this business like many others nearby is odd to me still. I'd also asked if it was okay to leave some of my business cards on one of my last visits and was told it was absolutely fine. The next time I was in, they were all tossed out and no longer next to all the others. I'm not sure if it was someone at the business or a competitor. I didn't even ask at that point after my discovery about the ingredients when I bought that lemonade and saw the label at home before I opened it because I'd become uncomfortable being there. Lesson learned on asking to see labels and not just ask, to be more informed on what is in consumables. This review would have had quite a different outcome and amount of stars back in the beginning. I'm not sure how nutritional this all was in the end. Again, lesson learned. I just wanted to support what I thought was a fun local business and regretted this one. The shop also has protein balls and fitness classes, neither of which I tried myself.

They still have the goofy hours closing at three. It felt dark & dingy. Pieces of trash on floor runners as walked to our seats. Pieces of napkin? The cloth seats of the booths are stained. Although it's always been overpriced, it's gone up even more, and it's just not pleasant now. Three women at the front hostess desk didn't acknowledge my party right away, and when one did, she seemed annoyed we were there. Our server wasn't any more welcoming nor friendly. Worse, actually. I received a large mug of decaf. No non-dairy options and given bowl of individual cups of half-and-half. While it proved to actually be devoid of caffeine, the coffee didn't taste good at all. Not sure what brand they must be using. No refills offered for our table, but I couldn't even finish this cup. $3.00 for this crap. Soft drinks are nearly $4, juice almost $3 and $4 depending on the size... Everything here is extremely overpriced. The portion of hash browns I was given was huge, but they were not good either. I normally have trouble with undercooked hash browns with no color when I go out. These were overcooked and too crunchy to get on a fork. Greasy. Rye toast okay. I'm sure real dairy butter. I didn't bother to ask... I'm glad they offer mushrooms. However, I could tell they came from a can. I also like that tomato juice is an option, but I didn't get that this time. Rye bread is a welcomed sight. Given checks before we were finished. No drink refills offered. I was never brought the straw the server said she owed me. She only had one on hand. You must take your check up front to pay. As annoyed as they seemed to have us come in the doors, you'd think they would have checked us out sooner. My two sides ala carte with coffee came to over $11 before tip. Not pictured, a lady at my table paid even more for a fountain drink and their granola and yogurt parfait with fruit. It looked good, but good Lord. $12 and change?? Just really unenthusiastic attitudes. Food quality and atmosphere went WAYYY down. I feel like I need a shower and to put my clothes in the wash from feeling greasy and having that oily smell cling to my shirt which was fresh when I went in. I don't know how this place is still in business other than the fact that it's one of the only restaurant options in this awful little town, so you don't have much choice if you want to go somewhere to sit down... I don't plan to return. The staff won't ever have to be inconvenienced by me again. You had one job...
